I was obviously kidding 😛

lol But oddly enough, there is a real condition called "Depersonalization" that's probably the closest thing to it IRL.

As the saying goes, "Truth is [often] stranger than fiction."

Back on topic: FWIW, I finally saw the "full event" accompanying the crashed/abandoned wagon north of Blackwater; it's an NPC that asks you to watch his wagon while he goes for help.

Meanwhile, you loot the money and other items while he staggers off, slightly inebriated:

I waited for him, both in single player and online, though not for very long online.  🙂

He doesn't come back, I waited over 12 game hours in single player, no sign of him.

Thought that there might be a reward if you're found still guarding the wagon, or maybe bandits come along and you have to defend the goods...nope.

It's silly, another lost opportunity for more interesting gameplay.

lol I was wondering if I rode my horse near him whether he'd ask for a ride to wherever he was going--I overheard him mentioning something about having to walk.

I followed that fellow as he walked a circle around Big Valley, getting run over and hurt by riders along the way. Made it all the way to Hanging Dog Ranch without spawning bears or wolves. When I looked away for a second the server despawned him.

Story mode but meh. The Man With No Name poncho is actually already in Red Dead 2.

But instead of us getting this in Online, we get sh*t.

I waited for a bit, got bored, took the money and the bottles that I could, and rode by him on the road to Strawberry. Nope, didn't even stop.

lol I'm surprised that he hadn't despawned before then! NPCs can often despawn the second they're out of your sight...

^^ There's only one two pamphlets (with qualifying rank), and it lets you craft explosive ammo for all your guns (rifles, shotguns, repeaters, revolvers, pistols, etc.)

IMO, shotgun and sniping rifle are the most useful; probably repeater as well.

thanks for the quickness, but the fence offers two different pamphlets:

1. express-explosive, I think thats the on eyou mentioned, and

2. explosive shotgun

^^ Sorry about that, and yes; you're right--there's also the "Explosive Slug" pamphlet.

I would buy both, as I use them for defending against griefers. They're not cheap, but money is pretty easy to make in RDO.

That's where low level griefers usually fail: they don't have the explosive ammo and most traders do, but they usually do have dynamite arrows.

Thrown dynamite at a moving target is VERY inaccurate, luckily.

They have to use those arrows sparingly though. I forget what level you need to be to be able to make those things but the real low ones only have the ones that were R* gifts. I'd also bet that if you're able to make them and you keep using them once they run out they'll cry that you're cheating. You gotta love the kids.

I think it's rank 60 or thereabouts.

Even more funny is that the dynamite will knock you off the wagon and kill you, but won't actually destroy the wagon, they have to set fire to it to wreck the wagon apparently.

I saw some griefers try this on a live streamer once and they were surprised that the wagon was fine, they blew off the driver then they got wrecked by the streamer's posse, very amusing to watch.

I didn't realize dynamite didn't destroy the wagon.

When I used to play on PS, we had a group of about 20 people that would often play at the same time, so we would all join the same lobby even though we weren't in posses, or if we were they were separate ones. If a griefer started up the person or posse involved would keep them occupied and notify the others of what was going on thru a chat app on our phone so the entire group got the message at once and before you knew it, the griefer was surrounded by 20 players. I don't know why, but they disappeared pretty fast.🤣

Wish they all played on PC to bring those days back.

Yeah, many griefers don't know the thing about dynamite at first either, it's funny to watch them fail.

The streamer I watch most has a full posse plus at least 2 or 3 extras that can't get in the posse and often they tag along for sales, it's a big surprise for griefers to instantly face a full squad and more as soon as they attack.

lol.

When I first started I joined a posse that had so many members they had set up 4 offshoot posses that could be opened whenever the others were full in the session. It was nice being with people who had my back when I was a rank 11 player. Of course, even while with the group, with all of us right there, people would still come after me. I guess they figured I wasn't in a posse. 🤷‍♂️ But it was funny watching their reaction when they found out.

I still get people trying to lassoo me over and over while I'm in defensive. I just keep walking along listening to the sound of the rope and laughing my butt off. I wonder how many reported me for cheating.

This is one of the reasons I miss more ppl in the lobbies, everytime a guy try to lasso me I use the laugh emote, most of them get angry and attack me opening the oportunity to kill them at least two times without losing the defensive :).

Very handy when crafting toxic moonshine or a horse meal (horse care item) for a quick daily! 😉

Crafting split points while you slowly amble down main street on horseback looks extremely badass.

is there another use of the CRUSHED VALERIAN ROOT, instead for the crafted sedative rounds?

I see i have a full amount of 30 pieces, but cant use or sell  them.

I would buy this sedative pamphlet, if its not garbage....

Or charging at you doing that little fist shake thing showing they are trying to tackle you? Still makes me laugh.

If you have lots of money, it's good for when you know Harriet is going to spray you or you're far away from her and need to fill up a bit on ammo.

You do tend to loot quite a few of those, and alternately you can pick prairie poppies to make sedative rounds as well.

You can buy both from Madam, the poppies cost $1 each, but the roots cost $10 each.

That's probably why you can't sell them, they're apparently worth a lot!

$10 to make 1 round vs. 80 cents for a box of 20. I don't care where I am, if I need more ammo I'll wait with that price difference. I do make the reviver. $2.50 for a bottle of horse reviver vs $5 for a bottle of animal reviver from Harriet. Not sure who came up with the root price but it's a bit overboard. lol

I've bought poppies from Madam quite a few times back before they nerfed the frequency of getting sprayed, and often when I was around Blackwater, there's lots of poppies so it's easy to craft a bunch of rounds.

I've hit over $250,000, I pick up plenty of collectibles while doing other things, money's not a big deal, so buying poppies is just easier some times than waiting.

It may even take as much time to pick the poppies or buy them then craft the rounds compared to waiting until you can buy them from Harriet, it's just easier to take because I'm doing something rather than waiting or having to find something to do that doesn't take me too far away.

Waiting out timers is the thing I hate about R* online games.

It's fake, it feels completely artificial, there is no reasonable justification in context of immersion, so most of the time I'll take any other option than submitting to another timer.

R* loves delay and diversion, getting around that in any way feels like a small victory of a sort.

I just want to play the game my way, leaving out as much of the artificial bullsh*t as possible.

That's why it's so funny when people use the "playing the game as intended" bullsh*t excuse, I don't give a rat's ass what R* intends, it's my time and I'll use it the way I want.

End of rant.
