Lemoyne outlaw
hi everyone this is something i have been thinking about. also there are spoilers. so we know there were two brothers in the van der linde gang. one was davey and the other was mac. they both died shortly after the failed blackwater heist. davey got shot and was slowly dying while the gang fled. and mac was injured too and milton killed him.so i was thinking what if davey had survived? mac still dies. and davey has his own redemption. charles had said that both callanders where mean and vicious.so what if throughout the story davey redeems himself and behaves better. or have him kill milton. either way i dont exactly know what he would do in the story. but it would have been nice to have one of the callanders alive. what do you think? Nulla Lex Ink.
I've been thinking about what Davey and Mac must have been like. Maybe it's just the allure of obscurity doing it, but from what little info about them we're given I feel like they would have been interesting characters to get to know. Davey is the only gang member whose death Micah responds to with "That's a shame," instead of something snarky, and then he goes on to say both of the Callander boys were fighters. Of all the gang members, those are the only two he truly says something good about, outside of Dutch. The fact that Micah likes them makes me think they have to be a certain type of trash ball, like his other friends, but then you have Bill and Uncle reminiscing about Mac, with Bill saying "He was the kind of guy you'd love to rob with," and Uncle talking about the time he beat fifteen men in a bar fight. The worst thing we hear about them comes from Charles, and he's not even saying it to be disparaging, when he calls them a "vicious pair of bastards." All that being said, basically, I imagine the two of them being about like Micah, except with some redeeming qualities. Crazy guys who love to fight and kill but that you can count on to watch your back and not lose their cool until necessary. Whenever they joined, they made an effort to ingratiate themselves into the gang, getting to know all of the other members and becoming friendly with them. I see them as the type of dudes who would have a random event that consisted of them fighting in the middle of the camp, and then after a few seconds hugging it out. Maybe they'd tease other members of the camp, but it'd always be done with the understanding that they were just joking, and without a hint of legitimate malice. If it ever did seem serious, they'd start laughing and say something like "Got you going there, didn't I?" Once again, a couple of likeable Micah's. As far as if Davey should have survived? Well, I could see it being pretty neat, having a character around that Micah seems to enjoy being around and working with. Might have been neat to have a mission where Davey tries going after the Pinkertons, and the gang has to save him. I don't see him having a big impact though. Worst case scenario he provides another member death before Chapter 5's end, best case he makes it to the final chapter and dies at some point during that. I could see him going down with his death being a play on that "heroic sacrifice" staple in stories like this. Except instead of him telling the guys "Go, I'll hold them off" and holding ground, he rushes head first into the danger like a lunatic. Ultimately, it would have been neat, but I don't think the story really suffered from his absence. Though if some prequel DLC is made, I'd like one of the brothers to be the guy we control. Gray-Hand
I imagine them as being like the ‘bad’ version of Arthur. Vicious, ruthless and maybe pretty abrasive, but loyal and ultimately dependable. I don’t think the game would have been any better if they had a bigger role. The cast of chararacters is already pretty big, and covers a lot of personality types. Several of the characters were already pretty under-utilised (Javier for example). Including the Callander brothers wouldn’t really add anything to Arthur’s story. McAgent and Non Funkable Token
roe
I don't think any of them were really needed as the cast was already pretty big and diverse, but I have said before that I think they should've dragged Davey's death out a bit so it actually meant to something to the player/viewer. Davey dying right at the start was a bit "oh, ok" because we had no real idea of the context, when it could've been "oh sh*t, these guys are in big trouble" if they'd just waited a little longer before he did. CrimsonFolo
tbh i barely noticed the Davey guy dying really nor did i care really because all that was said about him was a few lines and that's it. I don't even think Arthur interacted with him or said anything about him
jje1000
I would love to take a look at Davey's model (and Mac & Jenny's if they exist) when the PC version comes out and people start digging into the files. As of now he basically looks like another Micah from the brief glimpse we get of him. Edited December 31, 2018 by jje1000 McAgent
