Please no arabian talk here. Had enough about the endless praising of this sad excuse of a horse.

Stamina seems like the most important factor here. I've had no trouble managing my red Arabian's temperament and they're supposedly the least manageable so whatever, I suppose there's nowhere to go but up. Health is nice but I don't see it as a major selling feature. Higher overall quality horses seem to have a good amount of it in any case. The one thing that's been noticeably limiting my capabilities is the stamina pool. Even with proper use of the tap-in-time feature to reduce drain, I'm still finding myself needing to either slow down or pop stamina medicine during missions that require a lot of fast, long distance travel. The longer I can maintain top speed, the better, so stamina will be my #1 priority when it finally comes time to upgrade my red Arabian.

The Fox Trotter has about 90/95% Stamina at Bonding Tier 4.

THAT being said, the horse will complain and start to fight the rider when there is 30-35% stamina remaining. You have to spam the button to calm your horse to keep them going and at about 15-20% stamina the Fox Trotter will usually just buck you off from my experience.

The only way to avoid this, dope your horse with tonics and ride like the wind.

Horse Health is actually very important online as it seems hostile NPCs always want to target your horse, way more than in SP. Definitely something Rockstar programmed into Online to make it so you spend more money on horse insurance or recovery.

Never had my horse shot by npc's. So not important for me.

My turk never bucks me off and stamina isnt an issue ever

I'm gonna go with the turkoman. Still got 6 ranks to go unfortunately, but gonna buy the brindle thoroughbred at 51 for pure racing. Its basically an adult version of the arabian, only with more speed and less ptsd

Pressure Drop

Turkoman for me, looks better IMO. The Arabian is overrated, and far too small for my liking. I would take any horse in the multi class over the Arabian, any day.

Ugh i cant wait to get one of these. At rank 46 right now. I win like 85% of the races I participate in - my record is 7 in a row! - with my bay Thoroughbred (her name is Regina George, Rachel Mcadams character from Mean Girls lol. Yes, i let my gf name my horses.) I cant wait to pull out that sexy ass MFT and dominate on some '01 Shaq ish haha.

Any other high level racers out there? Looking for a challenge when I get back from vacay! If you havent given them a shot just a PSA that its currently the only game mode with lock on disabled!

I bought the brindle thoroughbred at rank 51. Currently i'm 52 and waiting for the brown turkoman.

I had the brindle in sp as well. Definitely my favorite race horse. Saddled it up with a improved mother hobard (or something) saddle with the best stirups that isn't fully closed around the toes. I'm pretty sure i can keep it at full stam if I keep calming it while racing with this setup.

So, i know about the stats of the Turk and the Trotter and i currently own both, but... why do i have the impression that the Turkoman is faster? Is he more agile or something? Or am i under some placebo effect because of all the good things people said about the Turk in this here topic? lol

I dont think any horse is faster in free roam at moment they all have the same speed, Diff stamina works but speed is broken at moment

I really find it difficult to choose between these two horses. Not that I’m anywhere near the required rank to buy any of them yet, but I will be fairly soon and I’m usually quite selective with my purchases and I like to plan ahead.

I’m leaning towards the Turkoman much because I’m often shooting while on the horse and I really want a horse that’ll keep it’s cool in most situations. I’m on the Arabian now simply because it’s the fastest horse I could get early on - I don’t want to buy semi-good horses but rather save up and buy a really good one when the time comes. But yeah, anyway, the Arabian sh*ts its pants every time a frog jumps past and so it’s getting on my nerves...

The differences in speed, health and stamina don’t really seem too big.

At the moment, I’m leaning towards the Turkoman because it seems fast enough and has got plenty of stamina, and it’s more war-oriented. Plus, everyone seems to dislike the gold one so I might just go for that. I like being different.

Do I seem to be on the right track (ignore what I said about the Gold though)?

Im in the same boat and thinking of getting both BUT listen up here I started the game with the red Arabian and that one is next to useless in a gunfight and also anywhere near predator animals it sh*ts itsen so i purchased the Apoloosa (whitish silver with black spots level 43)  for 18 gold if i remember its as fast as the Arabian and is rock solid with upto 4 wolves around only throws me if there are more and im shooting instead of trying to calm him.

I understand the Turkoman has a similar temperament  so that should be the better horse when the speeds are corrected, as at the moment in free roam all have same top speed just different stamina and temperament

Update.

I've bought the turkoman since i started this thread. Got it to level 4 bonding yesterday. Its health is a whole full circle now, it doesn't care about gunshots and not much about predators.

I think my hungarian has a bit better temperement, but much worse stats. I bought the improved mother hobbard saddle and the best stirrups. With this setup, my turkomans 3/4 stam is always plenty for all situations.

The thing is an absolute beast and now my favorite horse. When I get the money and rank I'll buy the Fox trotter as well

Don't know if the stats differ from SP to MP but I've tried every top tier horse in SP and my favorite was definitely the Dark Bay Turkoman.

Full health and almost full stamina, fast, reliable in battle and a beautiful horse.

In RDO I've stick with the free Arabian as I don't want to grind for the Turkoman just yet.

Turkomans are faster in the deep snow around Colter. The only other horses that keep up are Arabians. It usually takes about 30 seconds of heavy spurring to overcome the extra drag of the deep snow, but after that they're off to the races.

Is it just me, but they definitely made the MFT smaller at some point?  I remember it being not too much smaller than the Turkoman and now it looks like a pony

IMHO, the Turkoman was the best combination of good qualities in the game. Stupidly fast, fearless, damn-near limitless stamina, and healthy health bar.

Sounds like the Turkoman (level 60 unlock?) is the horse I need.

I'm fed up with my red Arabian ditching me in front of alligators and crashing into what seems like every bl**dy little thing.

And how! Lately (at measley level 37), I've been walking more often because of how useless that red thing is. Seriously.

I would have shot it and sold it to a glue factory by now if the game would just let me.

Mmm ill stick with my Steel grey Breton named "Bad News" its a tank ! fast, full stamina and almost full health.

eats bullets for breakfast and takes a while before it gets agitated around predators.

Maybe ill try a Turk sometime...

Dunno what your Bounty Hunter rank is, but the Bretton is comparable. If I'm being honest, I prefer it over my Turkoman under most circumstances. Only the Ardennes is more courageous, in my experience.

The Criollo is a great option if you want a small(er) horse that's good.

I think it’s been resized as well. It used to be taller. The only horses worth getting now are Shire, Ardennes and Belgian.

Oh, the new top tier Norfolk is great.  It's the size of the Turkoman and has the speed of the MFT.  I like it quite a bit.
