Player Assassination Stranger Missions

right d-pad-->quick join-->mission - Pulled my posse member and I into a story mission.

Damn, why did I not think of that? I guess I just panicked when I realized we'd been targeted and that my friend was afk. Starting up a mission would've saved us both, of course. 😒 Now I feel stupid, and rightfully so.

Well, at least now I know how to do it the next time someone's afk and we're being targeted. If we're all actively playing however, I actually think it's quite fun to try and escape or even more; fight off the attackers. But I can see why people don't like that too.

I like the assassination missions. Whenever I'm targeted I find a place to hold up and fight it out, because whenever I'm on the other end of it, they run for the hills and I don't want to be like that. My only gripe is they should do something to discourage running. Maybe give a decent payout for each attacker you take out before they have a chance to kill you. I can understand though if people just aren't in the mood to fight. It definitely needs tweaking.

Was targeted with a friend a few nights back.

We dashed to the saloon in Armadillo and camped out there, double shotgunned both attackers multiple times whenever they came in.

Was great fun, when the mission ended and we won, those guys kept on coming for us.

Really pissed them off I guess lol

I love being targeted. Its one of the few exciting things that can happen in free roam.

Leaving the session because it disturbes your grinding.. what are you grinding for anyway? You clearly don't wanna play the game, so what do you need your fancy horses and weapons for?

Its not about the destination, but the journey if you ask me.

I'd have to be grinding for that to disrupt it, surely. Lol.

That's a large part of why I refuse it though. Folk just don't move on after they get that kill. Something compelled them to just go on and on. Rather boring, so I look to move on. That simple really.

Don't understand sorry. You need to grind to not be assassinated?

You assumed the players avoiding that crap are grinding and even asked what we/they grind for. I look to avoid this crap but don't grind at all. Just hang with buddies or play my game of it. So as I said, I'd have to be grinding in the first place for your assumption to be correct.

Basically, it's a wrong assumption. :)

Also, there seems to be no direct correlation between getting targeted and your honor level. I've been squeaky clean for almost the entire time and still get targeted. It would seem to me that if you have some rampaging, low honor roaming the map, he/she should be the one targeted. Just seems like common sense.

Right? My honor level is maxed out positive and I'm getting targeted?

Did I tag you or anyone else..? no. I wasn't assuming anything about you. Didn't even know you existed before you quoted me.

Some people in this thread has stated that they can't be bothered with the mission because they had better things to do; earn money.

Edit. But if the hat fits.. you said yourself you'd leave the session to go back to hunting. You just hunting for sport?

Bit of both really, well 3 reasons. Sport, cash, and food as I enjoy the survival approach. But alas, I knew you were just talking in general, and I just assumed you read the thread and noticed I, among others, have said we prefer to avoid this crappy gameplay is all.

My bad there, sh*t happens.

No worries I didn't read the whole thread I'm lazy.

As said I like the mission.. well I like the concept of it.

It shouldn't mean you risking to lose your hours worth of hunting, but really that only happens because of the buggy ass horse system. Your horse shouldn't reset because you die.

And the reward needs to be higher. That goes for all missions.

Yeah, definitely agree with you there, hopefully next year we'll see far more improvements. But until then, happy holidays. :)

The only real fun anymore after like 20 hours of online is the assasination missions. The other stranger missions all a bore.

I like to think myself as a hitman it's the only legit one imo cause it warns the target also so they know unlike a lot of wagon ones and such where I think a dude friendly and he blows up my cart with dynamite. And i dislike shooting people on sight just incase cause I've been the guy trying to just get to butcher gunned down by someone doing cart mission just cause i was too close.

Honestly, it should be like One on One DM in GTA Online. If the target goes too far away, it ends.

I just quit if I get tasked with hunting a player as they suddenly lose their balls and run for the hills

I never take these missions, I think it's really unfair to other players that might be hunting or minding their own business exploring the map or something. You shouldn't be forced into engaging in any PvP missions, espcailly if you're currenlty in the middle of doing something else.  I just swap sessions after they waste a few minutes trying to get close to me.

A week/2 weeks ago I got the mission from Anthony Freeman at rank 9(or)10 to kill a player rank 29 in the swamps. I rolled in and killed the player and complete the mission.. The player respawn right next to me and killed me and that was it.

Yesterday, Saint Denis and Rhodes filled with players and few posses battling... I’m in blackwater, enter th general store, flipping through pages and it backs me out, notification “you have been targeted for assassination” I think it also show the players ID and the players dot on map was like all stranger mission icons and I got f*cking stuck in this half frozen turn body from the game backing me out while I was browsing general store catalog... I couldn’t even interact with anything or my own weapon wheel, I had leave the lobby. Couldn’t even run or fight and the player coming to assassinate me was ridin’ like a cocaine cowboy on the train rails from Rhodes. It sucked, couldn’t even battle or run, mind you... all the pelts and corpse I lost from this f*ck up... cheers c*nts.

The only thing you ever need to remember if you ever become the target of a player assassination mission is this:

RUN.

Which works great, assuming the guy that got the mission isn't a half block down the street.

Ive had a great time with these tbh and i hate pvp.

I had one where i chased the guys from basically valentine to saint denis, realized they were a posse on a train.

Dude at the back of the train tried to kill my horse, had my bolt action out though and dead eyed to paint his forehead black (and red).

Rode up alongside the train, pulled my pump shotty off the horse and jumped on.

Crouched and began working my way up, knowing that most likely the dude driving the train was my target.

Before i got to the front of the train, i pulled out a molotov, and launched it into the conductors car - i killed someone, just wasnt my target - there were two of them at the front of the train! My target hopped up onto the coal pile and pointed his revolver at me. I leapt to the side, pulled my pump action back out, blew his head off, and hopped into the conductors seat, and sped off, gritting my teeth as i accelerated through my 2nd degree burns.

They definitely need to improve it, but theres no denying it allows for some really fun, dynamic scenarios.

pretty easy money if you get targeted, people can rarely get to me in time if i ride away. especially if my poses are about to distract them.

would be nice if you could opt out though

I never accepted any of these, I don't want to kill some random guy who was just minding his business, maybe he was collecting herbs, hunting stuff, or just enjoying the scenery, having fun alright. This is pretty damn sick design to interfer with others experience randomly, and I am usually trigger happy but not against other players, unless provoked.

I think R* should rethink this and maybe only target players who currently have a bounty (I hope bounties come back) or them who are actively wanted by the law. That would make sense at least.

But, yeah I been targeted for the first time yesterday, he was level 12 not knowing what he was getting into obviously, he just came right at me hauled, his ass down all the way from Armadillo while I was at Fort Mercer clearing the hideout. So, I rode all the way down to Gaptooth and... he never catched up before time ran out. Then he was just left stranded there, all alone, idling, maybe regretting ever having accepted the job lol.

Edit: Perhaps make it a posse vs posse thing alltogether, what @Stretch188 described sounded like fun if both parties priorly agreed to it.

My ps4 always stops recording after every 15 minutes and i always forget to turn it back on/think its on when its not lol, so sadly i dont think i have video of that one.

I Think i recorded the time our target and his posse rode for fort wallace, and proceded to mow down my entire posse from the tower as we approached.

Im the worst shot in most of the servers I play in (free aim for lyfeee lool), and I wasnt gonna be able to waltz up there to use my shotgun, so i booked it for the wall right underneath the window they were sniping us from, eliminating any shooting angles, and proceeded to lob a stick of dynamite through the window (Kobe!)

100% recorded the time a legendary wolf tackled my deputy and i rushed in with a knife and saved his life with a few swift stabs though lol.

He doesnt have a mic, so he just stood up after, a bloody mess, intestines hanging out, and gave me a thumbs up lol. I knew right then I had earned his loyalty haha. Im out of town but ill post it when Im back home.

P.S: see how much more excitement, variance and strategy there is without auto aim? "That time i pulled out my varmint rifle and headshotted 5 ppl in 4 seconds" doesnt have quite the same ring to it does it lol.

I'm a lone ranger and had to assassinate a posse of 4. No chance.

You only need to kill everybody once and if you get killed thats no problem. If they chose to fight it shouldnt  be that hard. If they run you got no chance, but that can even be the case with 4vs1.

I've actually had to rethink this. Maybe I've just had time to wrap my head around the concept. Early on, when I had no idea these missions existed, I would get pretty worked up when someone would come at me. Now I am finding it a blast to try and outrun the hunters. I guess I get it now and kind of enjoy the thrill of the chase; whether it's me chasing or being chased.

Super simple solution: menu option - Do you want to be available for target missions? Y/N.

Solves all.

Had this mission the other night. Turns out the rival posse knew of a way to get into a house in St Denis that had its doors locked so we couldn’t get in. Got one of them by throwing dynamite up on the balcony, but the two others were hiding inside the house somehow.

My buddy said they possibly backed a wagon towards the house and managed to get in on the top floor. Anyone recognize this strategy? Gotta say I was quite impressed but also a tiny bit pissed that they had such an unfair advantage.

That's kinda where I am. I wouldn't want to be constantly on a hit list but every now and then WTH, still waiting for my first time. Do you get an alert? If they're in the next town over good luck catching me. I'm well stocked with horse stimulants.

I got an alert which is nice :) I use the Android app so I could see all comers for in all directions and run like the wind.
