If the 3D era GTAs had DLCs what would they be?

Just something a bit different from the usual "best" and "worst" threads. Keep in mind too this ignores limitations of the games at the time (so be as creative as possible).

For me I would have a DLC for Vice City entirely devoted to drug smuggling. I was thinking about adding islands from the Bahamas (A bit like the Scarface game) where after the story after Tommy's become a king pin he travels to and from Vice City smuggling drugs avoiding the authorities, pirates etc

I would also add an Everglades map extension to the city itself as that's something I feel that's missed from the game.

Great thread! Honestly, if I were Rockstar, I'd go back to the 3D games between bigger titles and periodically release expansions, I think a lot of fans would buy them even in 2019.

But back to the topic! Let's consider the story threads which could have been used for DLC in Grand Theft Auto III.

 - 8 Ball never appearing again after Bomb Da Base, which always seemed super sketchy to me, when you consider the car bomb trap Sal tried to lure you into. It was always my opinion that he tried to betray you.

 - The Leone Family were weakened by Salvatore's death, sure, but you had at least three potential successors to him, whom we never see again in game. Two of which we don't even see in Liberty City Stories.

 - King Courtney is never punished for betraying the player.

 - El Burro never appears in game.

Now, just off the top of my head, you could very easily have a few bonus missions revolving around these ideas. Me personally, I would want a mission where we have to hunt down El Burro in Hepburn Heights, maybe tracking him down to a seedy porn dungeon, to give the Mafia control of that particular racket in the city.

Vice City, as a smaller game, has fewer threads I feel could be explored in DLC. Well, apart from one: Mr. Black.

Seriously, I can't be the only one really intrigued by his character. The game was released in 2002, and we still don't even know who voiced him. He's pretty mysterious. And considering Leo Teal was meant to be in Vice City Stories and was apparently important enough to be included on the Vice City crime tree, I wouldn't have minded Mr. Black finding out about his death and turning on the player.

And then there's Tommy's repeated clashes with the Patrol Invest Group and DBP Security. They were a heavy presence in the game, but never really explored as a faction. It always made sense to me that as a big corporation, they'd actually present a bigger threat to Tommy's ambitions in the city, especially as we see that they have their eye on the protection business. So in any DLC, I wouldn't have minded them appearing more prominently as an enemy.

The GTA III DLC could simply continue where the base game left off with Claude since there are so many mysteries unsolved. The number one question I want an answer for is what happened to Donald Love. Damn Rockstar still blueballing us in their Q&A over a decade later.

The ending of VC wrapped up the story quite well with Tommy at the top of the food chain so I think a prequel would work better. IMO Leo Teal as a hitman would be the ideal protagonist for a GTA VC DLC.

The idea of San Andreas Stories is tempting for a SA DLC. I'd like to play as Ryder and explore the events shown in The Introduction movie with more depth: Ryder and Smoke's involvement in drugs, establishment of connections with Ballas, Loco Syndicate and CRASH, hiding their business from Sweet etc.

There was a rumour that originally San Andreas had so much content it could fit in 2 DVDs but ofc half of it was cut so maybe (most of) cut content as DLC.

However i do have a preference what should be in DLC: gang members being able to enter interiors, news vans appearing at higher wanted levels if cj on foot, enterable rusty brown ring donut restaurant, new vehicles, ability to climb ladders, more car customization options etc. i can't think of more

Vice City: add cheats for never wanted and money, ability to swim, ability to fly higher with heli so we can reach tallest skyscrapers and ability to stay on them

As for the story, in GTA3 let Maria stay alive and have a story revolving around her

DLC for San Andreas set between the missions Green Sabre, and Pier 69. Play as Ryder and shows what him and Smoke did while CJ was in San Fierro.

Idk if you are familiar with the Gta 3 Dev Process, but similiar to the SA Rumor surrounding the extra content that had to be put in the game, Gta 3 also had a huge part of it being removed due to memory limitations during the time.

A DLC playing Claude's part in GTA San Andreas would also been Cool [The way he was participating in Woozie's Races and flying to Liberty City with Catalina]

There's a mod for GTA SA that's kinda like a fan-made DLC similar to TLAD and TBOGT story DLCs for GTA 4.It's called GTA Hell On Wheels, and it's about that biker gang with a cobra logo that can be found riding their bikes in the rural areas of San Andreas. https://gtaforums.com/topic/503003-hell-on-wheels/

Here's a video of it on Youtube:

Well dunno if that counts but I did write up three sequels to III, VC and SA in my free time. Big thanks to anyone who gave me ideas or inspired me.

GTA: Liberty State - you play as Alex, a Polish-Japanese Yakuza member who gets involved in a civil war in the gang, after the death of the current leader, Katashi (aka Kanbu from GTA3), the Yakuza is taken over by Katashi's power hungry cousin, Koji Yamaguchi, who is very orthodox and soon sets up a deal with the Leones and Darkel to take over Liberty City, starts dealing drugs and sends Alex into exile. There, he runs around the whole Liberty State, which includes areas like Liberty Upstate and Carcer City, forming his own unorthodox empire and later coming back to Liberty City to deal with Koji and any other treat. He soon expands into other cities nearby like Kingston City and Anywhere City (all custom), further strengthening the new Yakuza syndicate, and in the end kills Donald Love who, after Koji's defeat, becomes the primary antagonist, for trying to disrupt Alex' activities and being responsible for the death of the Kasens.

GTA: Vice City Aftermath - you play as Esteban Gomez, a former member of the Cholos who comes to Vice City from Los Santos. There, he finds his cousin dead and starts running errands for characters like corrupt VCPD cop, Eddie Pulaski, the new Haitian warlord, Samuel Paraison, the leader of the Sharks, Tommy Vercetti himself, senator Michael Saxon, Mitch Baker and Pablo Rodriguez, a high ranking member of a new Colombian faction in town. In the end it becomes apparent that it's the Colombians responsible for the assination of Gomez' cousin, so he kills their current leader (not Pablo, he reappears in GTA: LS as the leader of the Cartel) on Avery Carrington's construction site.

GTA: Episodes After San Andreas - you play as Connor Adams, a new GSF OG. The gang wars here are not considered to be canon. CJ is killed in the intro by a Balla hitman which leads you to run around San Andreas, expanding the GSF all around the state, while looking for the leaders of the Ballas, known as Kane, Dope and Bogman. During the process we learn that the whole state becomes taken over by various gangs. You end up working for characters like various other GSF OG's, Gal, Hazer and Cesar from the Aztecas, a Biker gang in the countryside and the desert, Triads in both Las Venturas and San Fierro, a capo of the Sindacco Family who later tries to kill Connor and more. Kane is killed in Las Venturas, Dope in San Fierro and Bogman dies in the final mission after a shootout atop the Conference Center in Los Santos.

The popular rumor, according to removed missions, is that Darkel (removed character) orders Claude to kill Donald Love by flying a Dodo into his building, ditching said Dodo just before the impact. Of course, he just disappears in the final version of the game. Judging by the "Bringing The House Down" in GTA LCS, a bum holding a Molotov cocktail is seen right outside of Donald Love's office. Seeing as Darkel's goons live in a train tunnel right behind 8-Ball's in the final version of GTA III, and that the GTA LCS mission involves planting explosives in underground tunnels, I'd presume that to be Darkel or one of his goons outside of Love's office. Darkel would seemingly have had ties with 8-Ball and Donald Love, and he'd likely have the knowledge of tunnels and where their weak spots are. By the time of GTA III, Darkel and Love could have very likely had a falling out with each other. Of course, parts of GTA III's story were retconned, but if there were a sequel DLC, I'd still expect it to involve Darkel ordering the protagonist (or even somebody else) to waste Love via an act of terrorism. Maybe not flying a plane into his building, but a horrific end to a horrific cannibal nonetheless.

Gta 3- Working for Darkel, helping the Sindacco family stage a comeback in Portland

Gta San Andreas- playing as Cesar 2 years before the events of the game or the leones trying to cripple Cjs criminal empire

Gta Vice City- Playing as Leo Teal or maybe Tommy becoming entangled with the CIA/IAA

GTA: The curse of 8-9-3

You play as Kenji Kasen who is trying to restore the power of the Yakuza. In LCS, Yakuza was a formidable force under the command of Kazuki but after Toni disrupts their operations and kills Kazuki which is followed by Toshiko's suicide, the power of Yakuza wanes drastically as they are left with no leader and the losses they incurred at the hands of Toni. But, then in III, there they are, controlling casinos, sushi resturants and are powerful. So what exactly happens in this time period is little known so it would be great to play as Kenji who is trying to bring Yakuza back in the game.

GTA: Episodes from Vice City

You play as Wade Johnson a.k.a. Mr. Black. The game is set before the events of Vice City. We witness the journey of Wade as he starts as a petty drug dealer and car thief to one of the most feared and best hitman of Vice City working for everyone, from druglords to film stars, eventually setting up his own hitman business and money laundering operations. I would've considered Leo Teal as a possible protagonist but the way he dies in VC, in a 'Street brawl' is not suitable for a protagonist. Also, Mr Black is very myestrious figure in VC, so it would be nice to see his backstory and how he became "Mr. BLACK".

GTA: The Mexican Connection

You play as Cesar Vialpando, a member of Los Varrio Azetcas and eventually it's leader. The game is set before the events of San Andreas. The game showcases the mexican/hispanic side of gangbanging, rise of GSF and eventual downfall, death of Brian Johnson, enemity with Vagos and how the crack cocaine epidemic changed the gang scene of Los Santos.

Vice City DLC (expansion pack) for GTA 3 as it was originally intended to be

Bratva Assassin

Cool idea for a thread, Miamivicecity! Here’s my own ideas for 3D era DLCs.

San Andreas Stories:

You play as Cesar Vialpando. It takes place before the events of GTA: SA, around the year 1991. His cousin Catalina is also a character. The game emphasizes on the Latin American gangbanging as well as the death of Brian Johnson, among other things. The main antagonist is a character I made up named Joseph DiMeo. He is a corrupt cop who is a parody of the real life Joe Arpaio.

Episodes from Vice City:

I know this title has kinda already been taken by Crossbones, but oh well. Thanks for the idea, for lack of better word, man. ;) It is also set in between the events of VC and VCS. Therefore, it takes place in 1985. However, in MY version, you play as a mobster named Benjamin Anderson, but he goes by Benny. I can’t think of a last name as of right now. He is from somewhere in the northeast or Midwest, and is of Norwegian, German, English, Northern Irish, or Scottish descent. He begins his criminal life in Vice City and becomes the founder of the newfound German Mob. He’s basically a reverse Tony Montana as he has blond hair and blue eyes, but has a Cuban-American girlfriend with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes named Maria. And yes, the main protagonist of this DLC actually is partially based on me (if only I had a little more cash, laughs wickedly). The main antagonist turns out to be Maria’s father named Alberto Closas Jr., a Cuban drug cartel boss, as he even tells him that he believes the German Mob is “just a joke” and the Latin American drug cartels are the “real deal”.

At the moment, I can’t really think of one for GTA III, but oh well. Perhaps I will later, :)
