This was posted on Reddit, but the original source appears to be from Twitter - https://twitter.com/9teen8E5

There's also a drawing of the full map. Things get a little interesting if you look at the Twitter page's "following" section.

Well, it doesn't look like any of the posts I can find in the mapmaking thread so it's not boringly inept, but the crappy ms-paint expansion is hilarious like what even is this

this literally just looks like someone took a satellite image of Miami and added some text. damn man im convinved this is the next gta map

I'm not buying it. It doesn't look like it could lead to anything like the (then) leaked RDR2 map, it just looks like a weird photoshop of a Miami satellite view where the outer parts of the city literally just fade away into countryside. It's faker than a pair of vinewood tits.

Also nice sh*tty photo quality. It's 2018 like we're gonna fall for that dumb sh*t.

I scaled it to GTA V's map. The runway lengths, arenas, highway interchanges, and golf courses all match up well in size. I can't find anything that would prove it's fake. It's not missing anything a GTA map needs and everything is proportioned correctly.

Vice City in HD shouldn't be bigger than Los Santos in HD, unless this rendition of VC will be in a new universe

It's weird to argue for needing it to be proven fake instead of arguing for it to be proven legitimate; anyone can make a map, anyone can make a random twitter account, the only thing that separates this from any other random map people make is someone decided to add a couple hashtags when posting it on twitter.

I thought we were all just taking the piss here and no one was legitimately trying to prove it's fake because its so obvious

Nobody here is arguing that it's real and needs to be proven fake though. I said it before and I'll say it again - I like GTA hoaxes.

Nice try. Being unable to prove something is fake doesn't mean it's real. Look at the images of the hoaxes I posted. See the one with Trevor and the plane in the sky. I couldn't prove it was fake at the time even though I thought it was fake. The image in the top left corner was proven fake since someone found those buildings in GTA IV.

Try to prove the Vice City "leak" is fake. Look up the definition of proof before you attempt to though since you seem to struggle with the meaning of words.

1985 means that we'd be in the exact middle between Vice City (1986) and Vice City Stories (1984), but with the HD era all the 3D Era connections have been lost, so this shuldn't be a problem.

The map, to me, seems fake, but I also think that @Pink Pineapple scaled it incorrectly, making the city and island way too little... This "Vice City" version has plenty more roads than Los Santos, IMO the main island should be bigger than the State of San Andreas and Blaine County of GTA V. What I don't understand is all that "open space" that is present in the south of the map, even GTA V has some populated places in its countryside. I don't want to go back to San Andreas with kilometers and kilometers of desert and nothing else.

And also what is the role of the other 2 islands? One is very near to the mainland, but the other one is too far away from it. North Yankton in GTA V is always disabled but, if you enable it via mods or glitches, it's not that far away from Los Santos.

Why IMO this concept COULD be real?

Spoiler

bAlq8fR.jpg

NmVmRJn.jpg

- Like the 2 versions of Los Santos, the original Vice City shares some "common" areas with this map (the right side is very similar and the airport/military base are both in the east side of the city for example)

- What is that thing at the top-left corner of the image? A post-it? Maybe this map could be placed in a "project board"

- Some similarities with the real Miami (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Miami,+Florida,+Stati+Uniti/@25.8092381,-80.1311946,30834m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x88d9b0a20ec8c111:0xff96f271ddad4f65!8m2!3d25.7616798!4d-80.1917902), but if this Vice City is set in 1985 we can't really compare it to the original version since more than 30 years have been passed

Anyway I think this map is fake, it's very strange to have this kind of leaks even before the game is announced. Also the image is in low resolution, I could accept that in 2010 but now we're almost in 2019 and even the worst phone on the market is able to do better photos. Plus I'm not very convinced on the year 1985... We've never seen a GTA X (where X stands for a number) set in the past, does Rockstar really want to go back to 1985? Even if the '80 could be a perfect decade for a GTA, how about Online? We all know that lots of kids and early teens only play the Online mode, they probably don't want to hear '80/'70/'60 music, drive '80/'70/'60 cars and meet the '80 culture and its vibe... They probably prefer to have flying bikes, orbital cannons, jets all over the place and overpowered military vehicles instead. Do you want an exmaple? On RDR2 Online there aren't so many kids! It's hard to tell, but a famous 17+ game like GTA is and will always be a bit driven by kids in Rockstar's decisions, the possibility of monetizing the online is way too big.

But I'll be more than happy if Rockstar will prove that I'm wrong. I want to enjoy again that '80 vibe that the original Vice City had.

I mean the roads outside the city are massive and the junction is the size of a stadium. Plus, the island part of the city has no coast on the left side of it, the water between the main city and the island has clearly just been painted on, there's buildings and roads half underwater and sh*t lol.

MIAMI VICE BABY!!!!

serious note its not a leak. its fake. the map for gta VI has not even been produced yet. Bully 2 is coming first. i would say GTAVI is a 2022 game at the earliest. rockstar would never release a game that early to launch cause the install base is not there they will wait till mid or in prediction late gen.

in that cause its an 2025-2026 title. either way its a fake.

IF a big IF its real the city is waaay too small. more proof its fake. zen 2 cpus are super powerful and do a lot more.

The sizes and proportions of everything are comparable to V.

It's the same in real life Miami and the original Vice City map. Where are the buildings and roads half underwater?

The map is one of the first things they work on. I read that RDR2 was in production for 8 years. If they haven't even begun, GTA VI might not be out until PS6.

I remember that fake with Trevor and the plane in the sky, it was obvious because none of the shadows and lighting were consistent with one another and whoever thought it was real must've spent a better part of their childhood eating paint chips.

I'm not the one having problems with words lmao you are. But let's assume for a minute and humor the idea that it's real; who made the MS Paint looking artwork? Was it from a rockstar employee? If so, why couldn't the rockstar employee take two pictures, one of the city and one of the outlying areas, as opposed to just drawing it out in MS Paint? Not only that, but the map is very well detailed and nearly complete, especially for being made by a game studio that's either been:

A) busy crunching with Red Dead Redemption 2

B) busy crunching things for GTA Online

So unless one of the obscure Rockstar studios like Rockstar New England or Rockstar Lincoln put all those hours into the map, I'm not buying it. But I think the most damning evidence of all (for me at least) is this...

60U3xHe.png

Note how the city doesn't naturally transition into the countryside via suburbs, etc. Rather, it just fades away, almost like a spirit, into rural countryside. Which further makes me think that this is just a bad photoshop, where all the sh*tty transitions are covered up, thankfully, by poor quality camerawork.

That's my proof on why I believe this leak to be fake, as others have presented theirs. If you wanna keep believing it's real go for it but I think you're a fool for doing so, but if in the slim chance that this does wind up being the final actual map, call me out on it, but I'm very confident it isn't.

It would probably be difficult for someone to start taking multiple pictures without being noticed.

It's been over 5 years since GTA V was released. 3 and a half years after IV released, they were far enough along with V to release its first trailer. Plus, they released the 2 episodes and RDR in that time.

The suburbs appear to be in the northern part of the city. That southern area could just be industrial or something else.

That's not proof. You have maybe possible grounds for belief, but not proof. I have no reason to believe it's real, but based on what we have here, it can't be proven fake.

Let's say 1985, but map not fit this period, about how it looks now and then, because currently on map big city like modern LS, and not even so big for the current gen. Also this retro wave just a simple limitation of everything. Game could take place in Miami, but I doubt that will be 80's or what ever before 2020.;)

Ok.

Im going to use cultural context of the last two decades and pop culture to show you why Vice City is more than likely, and it being back in time is very possible.

I see that a lot of you have dug really deep into these images to try to find truth. But, i think satire, and recent events might be our only real indication.

Kinda weird i know, but does anyone know when gta v map got developed? Im going to assume right after 2008.

Well for online, i would argue there was a lot of missions that kind of paralleled pop culture at the time in what was popular. For one thing, the mission "meth'd up" was kind of like a parody of the pilot episode of Breaking Bad. A show we all know was very popular and gave insight on rural poverty west coast life. We also know around 2010 Trap music, heavily about selling crack, regained popularity. They definitely included that showing Lamar and Franklins early criminal life.

With political tension rising we had the Mitt Romney vs Obama campaign, which would have been right in the middle and the previous election before. We all know the political climate is crazy now, but between Right wing rural, and Liberal leaning cities, the previous elections felt very chaotic, because it felt like we were at a fork in the road. Gta v talk radios show a very good satire making fun of the flaws of both sides with an impending election coming up, where they used the two regions to show how polarized California can be.

We also know R* just had that article published how they are thankful they are not making a satire of the Trump era.

Next, we also know heist movies kind of had a come back with the turning of the decade. I actually would argue words like "heist" itself became more commonly used shortly before the release of Gta V. Movies like Fast And Furious took less of an organized crime feel, and went for more of an action packed epic route.

We know GTA v was made to be a lot more drivable then GTA 4.

Where adding cities like San Fierro perhaps would of taken from the easier paths available in Los Santos. Los Santos was rigged to basically be an extremely drivable area, where we know Gta 4 was less about cars, and being able to hit stunt jumps or chasing planes with dirt bikes.

Ok, now with fashion its obvious they were going to reflect what was cool at the time, such as the hipster cut of 2013, or the dreads that basically every player has lol.

So with this in mind, we have to look at with fashion we go through phases that mimic decades. We copy the 60s with the hipster look, we copied the 80s hip hop era with bucket hats ect. Now, i would like you to google what Justin Bieber is currently dressed like, and we will get to my next point.

So  in recent shows popularized by netflix we see arguably one of the most popular shows known as Narcos, gain a huge following. With that we look at the era, late 70s early 80s. People that did not give a sh*t about latin culture are learning new artist, people are dressing like George Jung from Blow, (including Justin Bieber, my point). Basically the late 70s look in Miami. Infact, the loose Hawaiian shirts, tucked in, with bleached blue bell bottoms, is even being revitalized by fashion moguls. People love the cartels, they love how afraid we are of them, we love how they give us the same mysterious feel as the 1920 mobsters.

Now this is why i heavily think that Gta 6 might be in early 80s Miami, or might have the protagonist (similar to Micheal from Gta v being a massive cliche stuck in another era) being a Washed up 80s Miami Vice mobster in a current time period.

So in terms of it being in Vice City today here is some hints. One thing we know is popular in the South, is the Trap music culture, heavily dominated by Haitian, and Afroamerican gangs. Just because the nature of today, i feel it is with in Gtas satire to make fun of the many people trying to be rappers. With the movies "straight out of compton" doing so well, i would not be suprised if there is a Record label or an artist as a protagonist.

Last but not least, we have a huge heroin and prescription pill epidemic, and especially one that is causing havoc in southern states like florida.

This would open up for a whole drug trade that possibly would give players something they are not used too, while still making fun of something that is very real.

This is probably fake but it brings to mind that I would love for Rockstar to integrate small and large islands into their games.

I'm thinking places like Sisika Penitentiary and then bigger island like an amalgam of Cuba.

I really dislike GTA V and RDR2's fully molded world. It feels unnatural after a point.

You need to break up that stuff with sprawl for a variety of reasons.

I don't understand this "leak" at all. So if it's real, how the f*ck had Rockstar not learned to keep their map concepts on lockdown? Considering the RDR II map was leaked before the game was even announced. And this is GTA, you'd know they'd double down on security.

However if it's fake why the hell has the creator done one small portion heavily detailed and the rest done as an MS Paint mockup? That's got to be 100% dead giveaway it's fake.

Either way we know next to nothing about the next GTA, all potential evidence to prove this maps legitimacy is out of our hands. So I'm calling this a fake for the time being.

The image in the OP says 1985. For all we may know, the next GTA will be set in the HD Universe and none of the HD Universe games are in the 80's or 90's. Even if it's in a new universe, I doubt the 80's setting considering that two previous games already exist in the era. The map (even scaled) looks way too big for Miami and surrounding areas. Even the water bodies look huge when compared to land.

I think it’s fake. It’s likely that the real map will be similar, but I’m convinced a real Florida location would have more than just Miami and would also have a more developed Cuba/Caribbean/South America area.

Yeah no.

Also something nobody else here has mentioned is how the Twitter account that follows the account that made this "leak" has the most generic company name ever (VG Marketing ? Seriously ?) and how the company profile only has like 100 followers, posts nothing that seems even remotely corporate and the "company" cannot even be found anywhere else online and has no links on it's Twitter profile linking to any official site not to mention how blatant of a marketing attempt this would be if the company Rockstar hired to market GTA VI literally followed the account that made the "leak".

In fact im about as sure that you made that account yourself as i am that the "leak" is total BS.
