What would you consider to be the worst crime ever committed by a protagonist in all of GTA history?

I would say what happened in "Deconstruction", but it's kinda been flogged like a dead horse at this point.

So I would say CJ letting an innocent woman drown in "Management Issues". Even if she wasn't the primary target it's still a low act if you ask me and he showed no remorse, but he'll save a woman from a burning building like a knight in shining armour. Inconsistency. Inconsistency everywhere.

Not that you sound like a third wave feminist, but what about all the tourists in Architectual Espionage?

Anyways, Toni destroying Fort Staunton is undeniably the biggest crime here. Have you seen how big the construction site in GTA III is?

Let's compare these things to their real life counterparts. How could 9/11 (Bringing the House Down) not be as big of a crime as the North Hollywood Shootout (The Paleto Score)?

I dunno man, I think being a domestic terrorist and killing/blowing up an entire neighborhood for cash is nothing compared to CJ killing a few construction workers or letting an innocent woman drown.

Also why get mad over letting an innocent woman drown and not the innocent manager drowning HUH

The only reason Toni's domestic terrorism doesn't bother me is I never got that far in LCS to really comment on it. Sure mass murder is an reprehensible act and I wont deny that, but it's easy to think of the most grand scale incident and call it the "worst". If we were only talking about crimes in terms of casualties then obviously what Toni did would top it.

But I like to be a bit for forward thinking than that. That's just me though.

Obviously, Toni blowing up Fort Staunton is the worst crime any protagonist has ever committed. He killed thousands of people just because Donald Love can make some money and destroy Forellis cause they attacked him previously. I wish they would have used some other approach for this, like first evacuate the area under some false warning and then blow up the place.

CJ may have inadvertently killed a man accused of a minor crime, but at least he didn't blow up an entire neighborhood remorselessly, like Terrorist Toni.

People seem to hate the mission where Toni blows up the entire district. In my opinion, it was one of the best mission I ever played in a GTA game. But the worse crime is of course, Toni blowing up the district.

Blowing up Fort Staunton!

Easily.Fort Stauton was such a nice place in LCS, you literally made terrorist act in GTA game.

Its over the top in every way only made to shock people(On the other way in 2006 nobody was butthurted with this, try this in 2018) also parallel with 9/11 is inevitable.

Toni murdering probably thousands of innocent people springs to mind. It kind of represents the creative nadir of the 3D era, because a protagonist doing something so outright evil completely flies in the face of whatever morals we're meant to attribute to him and his world. I think players can stomach the immoral things guys like Niko do, because they display emotional conflict as well as a rounded personality, so you understand their motives.

Toni, on the other hand, commits an act of terrorism and simply doesn't care. When you look at that mission in particular, as well as him forcing innocent people to unknowingly cannibalise an enemy of his, you really get a sense for why Grand Theft Auto IV had to be more sombre and reflective.

As mentioned, Toni's act of terrorism is definitely the worst.

"Hot Dog Homicide" from GTA2 is also a very evil mission. In that mission, Claude Speed takes a bus of about two-dozen civilians/Hare Krishna (depending on the version) to a meat processing plant for them to be turned into hot dogs, to feed Jerkov's comrades.

Hmmm nice bike

Toni blew up the entire neighborhood and killed hundreds (if not thousands) of innocent people for a mere $5000. I'm pretty sure real life terrorists who don't kill themselves in their attacks go after more money than that. If they got caught, Toni, 8-Ball (because he supplied the explosives and obviously knew what was going to happen) and Donald Love (who ordered this act of terrorism) would be hunted down faster than Osama Bin Laden and thrown in a supermax prison facility for the rest of their lives, lol.

Also, looking back at the story again, besides the fact that Love wanted to develop the area, didn't they also do it just to attempt to kill the don of the Forellis? sh*t, it would have been easier to just blow up his car or snipe him. Instead, they decided it's fine with killing tons of innocent people alongside the mafia don. The Leones really transitioned from the mob to a terrorist cell in LCS.

Toni blowing up Fort Stauton obviously, I don't hate the mission and Toni is established to be one of the less moral protagonists so it doesn't bother me personally, it's just simply the biggest carnage and chaos caused by a mission.

By game:

GTA III: Claude and 8-Ball blowing up a ship.

GTA Vice City: Tommy shooting tons of police oficers just to prove  himself to some biker.

GTA San Andreas: CJ infiltrating a dam to blow the place up so he could create a city-wide blackout for a heist.

GTA LCS: Already said, Tony blowing up an entire neighbourhood.

GTA VCS: Vic using a stolen attack helicopter to destroy a penthouse.

GTA IV: Niko and the McReary robbing the Bank of Liberty, killing dozens of cops in the way.

GTA TLaD: Stubbs asking Johnny to blow up his uncle's helicopter so people would think it's a terrorist attack.

GTA TBoGT: Luis blowing up a crane, a subway car and an airplane with sticky bombs.

GTA CTW: Huang blowing up the Globe monument and a museum to kill some AoD members

GTA V: The crew blowing up the FBI building to steal a hard drive.

It's basically unanimous at this point with regards to protagonists. No-one apart from Toni Cipriani killed hundreds - thousands of people in one fell swoop, causing millions (potentially billions) of dollars' worth of damage, and walked out with mere change for the deed ($5000). Even if the famed "Love Hurts" mission ever existed in GTA III (unlikely considering the aircraft mechanics were not finished until Vice City and parachuting was only made available in San Andreas), Claude's death toll would be a fraction compared to Toni's.

Unless I'm missing something, but what is about this that makes it the "worst"? It's something I've noticed that's been slowly popping up lately, but I really don't see the distinction between this and any other mission where we have to fend off dozens of cops. Some even in GTA IV itself. I can see the validity of how Toni killing innocent people might rub some people the wrong way, but not this.

Cops are a natural sworn enemy in every GTA games particularly during heists. What were Niko, Packie and Derrick supposed to do? Just sit there and wait to be killed themselves or be arrested? I don't get it.

If I remember right Niko even says "go back to your families the banks money is not worth dying for" suggesting he takes no pleasure in killing law enforcement.

There are surprisingly little to no objectives in GTA IV where Niko is tasked to murder innocent people, which is supported by his character  since he went to a war and saw maybe hundreds of innocent people being killed. He's pretty much always murdering mob/gang members or cops, so I just picked the one that probably stood out the most. My other probable picks were Rigged to Blow (but Niko didn't know about the bomb and there were no deaths), Paper Trail (even tho the target was a billionare who was funding terrorists), Final Interview and the whole kidnaping Gracie arch.
