Character Switch

A character switch mod for TBoGT.

This is more than your average character switch mod though, as it includes much more than just switching between the 3 characters. It includes the characters' models with every clothing item (also with hats and glasses for Niko), walkstyles, rifle and rpg walkstyles, voices, save/load system with all 3 characters, and individual wanted levels, timecycles, hud colors, health, cash, armor and weapons, clothes shops for all 3 characters, and all weapons from both episodes with working sounds, functional save beds and usable safehouse elevators. You can also enable AI for the other characters by pressing RCTRL + A then hire them as bodyguards by locking onto them and pressing G, dismiss with H.

This mod REPLACES TBoGT and would probably screw up the story if it didn't, so back up your setup2.xml if you want to play the original game.

Installation:

Unpack everything into your EFLC folder.

Controls:

F10 to save the game

LAlt + F1-F3 to change character (F1 - Niko, F2 - Johnny, F3 - Luis)

Added gang relationships for all 3 characters
Added functional safehouse beds for all 3 characters' safehouses
Added functional elevators for Niko's Algonquin safehouses
Added seperate money counters for all 3 characters
Attempted to fix bug where far away characters fell below the map

 

Old savegames are not compatible with this version.

Fixed slow map loading when switching to a far away character
Added TLAD weapons with sounds
Added trails and muzzle effects to weapons
Added the Russian clothes shop (no prices yet)
Added the Modo clothes shop (no prices yet)
Added Niko's clothes for Luis and Johnny
Added a permanent Hexer to the Lost MC parking spot

Jinx.

This is mind blowing. I might just reinstall EFLC for this mod someday. Insane job right there. I have a few suggestions, though. Not sure if they can be implemented but oh well.

 

-have separate phone numbers for each character, with separate friend activities

-have separate phone models (might be hard though)

-add all TLAD vehicles into the game

-bring in the TLAD biker gangs

-spice up life inside the Lost Clubhouse

-have separate computer accounts

-have some transition animations like in V

-have the characters spawned randomly after a certain ammount of time

-have the character safehouses be closed if using another character

 

These are my suggestions for now. If I'll have more ideas, I'll share them. Also if you didn't include the combined radiostations, you definitely should :)

Added weapons behind Niko's first safehouse
Added wardrobe into the Lost MC clubhouse (contains Johnny's outfit)
Fixed interiors unloading when changing clothes
The entire mod now depends on setup2.xml and can be disabled by restoring it from a backup.
Added wardrobe into Luis' apartment (contains Luis' clothes)

 

Note: Luis' starter top and LC Fight Club top are not available for Niko due to issues with the neck

Added Happiness Island t-shirt pickup
Added voices for the NPC protags
Opened Niko's Alderney safehouse
Added all blips from GTA IV freeroam
Moved initial character positions into the safehouses
Made gun shops functional

Taxis now function properly
Opened all Pay 'N Sprays
Removed weapons behind Niko's Broker safehouse (except knife and poolcue)
Removed Lost MC jacket from Niko due to issues with the neck
Fixed smoothing groups on all 3 characters
Fixed normal maps on Johnny's boots

Freely switching outside of cutscenes I guess

Though I can't even get The Cousins Bellic to work properly yet, so let's not get ahead of ourselves

SA doesn't have multiple characters as DLC, doesn't have openFormats support, and is unstable so I don't have any plans for it right now

This is actually pretty sick man! Very well done! Also are there going to be different huds for these characters? Like Luis for having the Tbogt hud and Johnny for having Tlad hud. If that is possible that is. And also, could you add for Johnny his old vest from GTA IV? But seriously, this is pretty awesome what you are doing here, I'm really enjoying this and some other done mods by you too as well, you got talent making these mods and you are doing an amazing job here. And so, keep up the good work :D. Seriously man, respect! (Also sorry for my bad english.)

Added custom HUD colors for all 3 characters (using CharSwitchAddon.asi, don't copy the scripthook and asi for EFLC 1.1.2.0 as it doesn't work there, however it is compatible with EFLC 1.1.3.0 and both patches of IV)

I couldn’t help but notice in the video of your first post; when you switched over from a character that was driving to one that was in a passenger seat, the vehicle came to a stop; the same happened when you were in the helicopter. You’ve since added an option to turn on the IA for the characters and ability to recruit them to follow. I was just curious if you have also implemented the ability to set a waypoint as a passenger and have the IA character drive to that location (similar to the taxi cabs feature or Brucie helicopter pickup). It would make car chases with the police more possible if you’re not coming to a complete stop everytime you switch characters. Regardless, looks very interesting. Once I get a computer with the proper requirement to run this game with modifications with no problems, I’m definitely checking this out, along side VCR. Hope you keep working on it.

Woow! this is Awesome! this is the switch mod I dreamed of, I'm surprised how recent this was created considering script modders have abandon this game. I hope it's still in development, would love to see improvements with added features, especially like jinx suggestions.

also:

*death or arrest respawns are funky

*Niko & Luis helmets are not visible
*all tvs functioni

*Luis foot steps sound missing

*missing corresponding character idle animations

*functioning Stevie's  garage is a dud

*I don't understand how to get the hud colors to work, I have version 1.1.2.0 and (not related) but why are there fire station map icons?

p.s i'll edit this if anything comes up

If I make helmets visible, then after switching to another character and back, the helmet will stick.

Idle animations should work, did you forget to copy ambient.dat to the EFLC root common folder?

HUD Colors aren't supported on 1.1.2.0.

ok after further testing this is my edit for the other things I hope will be featured;

 

*add johnny's first lost mc outfit featured in IV

*Niko's mask, Claude & biker jacket are missing (maybe add ear piece & the dirt bike helmet for Luis too?)

*Luis's super diamond drop should have it's spawn location(maybe Yusuf buzzard and apc too?)

*Bohan safe house front entrance is locked(have to use back door which is a bit tedious)

*eating and drink at bar and restaurant icons

*(enable activity at roman's cab depot)

 

bugs

*parachutes/skydiving don't work

*(Since Johnny and his boys burnt the club at the end of tlad, make it canon by disabling it and moving his bike and weapons spawn point to his other safe house? that way there's no need to make it functional with peds inside) if not, unlock the side entrance and roof door.

*arrest and death respawn is sometimes at the bohan police station instead of nearest corresponding locations

*radio station icons missing in hud (self actualization, ram jam fm & vice city fm)

*Luis's dlc weapons pickup are behind his apartment alley instead of inside the house

*shot glass is invisible when in the clubs.

*disable putting helmet on animation.

 

so far this is one of the best mods I've seen, it would be if even more awesome if these features could return

*possibility to do activities with other characters

*enable vigilante mission

*gang & drug wars

*car races

*bike races

*triathlons( this time w/ an entrance fee of 100k and winnings of 400k)

just follow the provided readme, if you have, be sure to move your tbogt save to another location and create a new game save in order for the game to not crash. I can make you a video if u still cant/haven't figured it out
