Jamwes
Is there a consensus on the best methods for farming honor? Is fishing and releasing still considered the best? Are there any tips or tricks I should be aware of to maximize honor gains or to be able to make a profit while farming? I would go to Jones, but 3 gold is more than I want to pay. Cratoz
I'd go for hunting honestly as you get a lot of money from it aswell and you quickly get honor, too. Not sure if it is the best honor method, but considering the money the most efficient way to get both. DentureDynamite and Jamwes
Pocket Fox
Catch release fishing, brush your horse regularly, play early missions and go for honourable, hunt WILD animals with CLEAN kills. It's the hardest one to max and obtain. Jamwes
U Carmine
Spare the leader when wiping gang hideouts. You could focus the honourable stranger missions as well. Jamwes
Callahan44
Just hunt. Good people kill every animal they see, everybody in the wild west knows that. I think atm the whole system is extremly stupid. It wasnt perfect in sp but a lot better. fejkb and Jamwes

Even killing civilians, keeping any fish and punching my horse (accidently), RDO think's I'm angelic. Must be buggy AF. Jamwes

Its like killing 1 animal and 1 person makes you a average person. Jamwes
Van_Hellsing
Just brush your horse over and over again. It will give you positive honor. Go to the ladder in Saint Dennis and shoot cops for negative honor. Edited December 20, 2018 by Van_Hellsing Boozey St John and Jamwes
areyouchappin
I used Gang Hideouts to raise my Honor back up, just clear them of bad guys until the Leader is left and then Spare him for a big Honor boost. It can take some time but you gotta ride around to all the known Hideout spots until they pop up on your mini-map. Here's a quick link to a map of known Gang Hideouts and Ambushes In between clearing Gang Hideouts, you can use the other Honor boost methods(feeding/brushing horse, catch and release fish etc), also when you are Ambushed by a gang you get an Honor boost for wiping out the ambush. On top of gaining Honor for clearing Ambushes and Hideouts, you gain supplies, ammo, cash, XP and possibly Treasure Maps. Losing Honor is much easier than gaining it once you get the ball rolling. Just kill civilians or lawmen until you become Wanted and then keep killing for as long as you can. Steal or kill horses, kill the surrendering Gang Leader after clearing Hideouts, you can even go around pushing or running into NPCs to lose small amounts of Honor. Feeding your horse to keep it's Cores up doesn't give you that much Honor, so don't be afraid to keep your horse fed and happy while trying to become a ruthless outlaw. You need to be a very bad person... which isn't hard if you spend 20 minutes sitting on a rooftop in St Dennis and kill about 100-200 police. Qbert
I farm honor basically by just playing the game. Seriously it's way to easy to gain honor on here, trying to get negative honor can be tricky as it limits your gameplay seeing how you can't hunt feed your horse or basically function without gaining positive honor

This was one of the first methods I tried after reading about it here (I think you posted it maybe?). I spent close to 20 minutes and could only get about a 1/4 of my honor down and gave up. I did enjoy the sensation of shooting people in the face as they got to the top of the ladder. Edited December 21, 2018 by hotrats773
IamCourtney
At the start it maxed itself out from just hunting/gathering/horse care, got that buckle, then I tanked it down to negamax with gang leader executions and cop shootouts for that buckle, now I don't really care where it's at as there doesn't seem to be any meaningful effect tied to it one way or another. I just do what I feel in the moment. U Carmine
Qbert
If you spare the leader then kill him I think you get a nice chunk of the negative
