Arena Wars Boost Upgrades

Hey everyone, I've got a couple Arena Wars vehicles and wanted to learn more about boost upgrades.

 

The regular NOS boosts obviously propel the vehicle forward, but the Shunt Boost is different.

 

I know we can slide left and right with a Shunt Boost, but can it also push forward like the 100% NOS Boost by default if neither left or right is selected?

 

If yes, how strong is a forward facing Shunt Boost compared to 100% Boost performance?

No its a completely different boost mechanic

Nope, Shunt Boost is for left or right pushing only.  

Also, FYI - the Boost Upgrade on the Scarab is only worthwhile for acceleration (which it is already good at) - its top speed is around 74 mph regardless of whether the nitrous is engaged or not - which is a pity.

so, if i understand you right, the %-Boost is only for "accelerate" and the shrunt boost for "attack".

wich means i must chose wisely what to buy, because shrunt is not the same as speed boost?!

It seems so, I'd probably pick %Boost, shunt is something that is difficult to efficiently use in most situations

It's important to note that Shunt Boost can be used while airborne. You can make vehicles fly that way (see Ghillie Master's videos), but shunting can also be used to change direction quickly, for example when collecting flags, or to evade attackers.

 

The %-Boosts only gives extra speed, but unlike the existing boosts in the game (Rocket Voltic, etc.) they can NOT be used to accelerate quickly from a standstill. The arena boost is relative to your current speed, i.e. it is barely noticeable when standing still but can improve top speed by a good margin.

Just don't bother with the boost upgrade on the Scarab - it's the only one where top speed isn't changed at all (74mph with or without boost) and acceleration is pretty decent anyway so you may as well just use Shunt Boost for this vehicle all the time.

Is it possible to have both NOS and Shunt Boost equipped?

Does boost only increase speed?

I tried to use it and I see a little flames and thats it. It did not propel the vehicle forward.

Also does it work in free roam or only within the arena mode?

I thought its supposed to be like NOS or something like the vigilante has.
