I was going to start a new topic on this but I'll use this one instead; I'm surprised this is still an issue almost 4 years after the first post... but I digress.

https://i.ibb.co/vj35K6p/1.jpg

For the past few days I've been trying to play GTA V and Rockstar Games Launcher simply won't let me login nor play the game.

I have searched on many different websites and reddit posts about this error and I think I've already tried everything suggested, on both Steam and Epic games (different RSC accounts also), including:

  • a clean install of GTA V and Rockstar Games Launcher twice, through Steam and Epic Games (separate occasions)
  • updated all my drivers
  • checked my hosts file
  • deleted the Rockstar Games Launcher folder after a clean install of GTA V to force it to re-download
  • tried everything suggested in this official help page: https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/6767851299987/Social-Club-Error-Code-3000-108
  • restarted PC multiple times after attempting all these fixes
  • verified integrity of game files (even though it was a clean install) various times
  • turned off my router for 10 minutes after doing all the ipconfig stuff in an elevated (admin) command prompt
  • checked that the launch options on both Steam and Epic are all clear and not forcing the offline mode
  • attempted to run RSC with admin privileges
  • checked that my DNS was properly configured (tried both Google and Cloudfare)
  • checked my internet speed - it's performing nicely in any other game or launcher
  • checked multiple times the service status - https://support.rockstargames.com/servicestatus

Like other users have reported, https://socialclub.rockstargames.com doesn't open in my network, but does if I use data on my phone. I will attempt to tether the connection as suggested in this thread to at least login once but even if it does work, is this the only way? It's ridiculous that a triple A game has this massive issue where paying costumers can't play the game properly...

Shut down router again. Unplug from power. Wait good 10-15 min. But before you do so, go to https://www.whatismyip.com and check your IP. Do the same after you turn router back on. If your IP didn't change, turn off router for longer time (i.e. over night). If IP still doesn't change, then contact your ISP so they do it manually. Though if this issue appears to begin with, it's most likely your IP is dynamic and it should work.

@ambi3nt: thank you for your reply!

Yesterday I was about to leave my router off for the night but decided to try logging in again and, surprise, now it works. 🥴  It seems my IP eventually changed by itself.

It's worth noting that the IP I had when I couldn't login didn't have any bad score on https://www.akamai.com/us/en/clientrep-lookup/

If anyone is facing this problem currently, there's no need to go through everything I mentioned in my post before (I wish I knew this before, damn those websites which give generic lists to fix very specific problems that never work) because the problem lies in your IP address itself; if it's dynamic, you'll have to force it or wait for it to change. If it's static, like mentioned above, you'll have to contact your ISP.

While your IP doesn't change, you have two workarounds which I tried and they worked:

  • tether your mobile data to your PC (can be through Bluetooth or USB, there's many tutorials online about this) and login while connected to it
  • use a VPN

I have been having this problem for the past 2 days. I can access https://socialclub.rockstargames.com

but everytime I try get ingame it just sends me to offline mode, saying that it cant access social club.

I have tried verifying files, I have reset my router, restarted my computer. I have even tried the

ping socialclub.rockstargames.com

with command prompt, it times out however.

I have tried changing my DNS as well, nothing changed.

I even tried using my VPN, still no results, it does not connect to SC when in game, but i can still access https://socialclub.rockstargames.com and login there just fine through my browser.

i have checked through

https://www.akamai.com/us/en/clientrep-lookup/

that my IP address and even the VPN addresses that I used posed no risks.

At this point the things I havent done was re-installing GTA and the Rockstar launcher, and I also havent contacted rockstar support which I highly doubt would be of any help.

UPDATE EDIT:

I have uninstalled GTA 5, and apparently theres also a Rockstar game's social club app which I removed, and also Reinstalled the Launcher which then I also believed it reinstalled the social club app, re-installed the game and the game now appears to run fine.

And here i was thinking it was network related issues on my end all this time 🙄 Thankfully I can play online again.

Sometimes deleting cache and temp files of the game works, sometimes changing DNS back and forth works. Sometimes using a different WAN IP works.

But mostly all i need is patience, sometimes i do all mentioned above, and i still can't connect to online.

It usually happens that i can't connect to online anymore, if i join online and forgotten to do something before starting the game, like changing audioadapter or something, and then immediatly quit the game without triggering the stats server at all. Imagine it like that i get into an online session, i notice i have no sound, then immediatly quit, this are maybe 5-10 seconds.

And everytime i do that, i can't connect to the servers anymore for like 12-14 hours or something. I learned my lesson and i never immediatly quit the game anymore, i always trigger the stats servers, by withdrawing money from my ingame bank account, and changing my outfit, until i see the yellow circle in the bottom right. Then im 100% safe to quit the game without getting the bug.

Of course you can't trigger the stats servers, if a hacker crashes the whole session by coincidence in the exact moment after you joined a session, then you can't do anything against it and have to wait the 12-14 hours, it somehow only helps sometimes to change WAN ip, delete cache and temp data, or switching DNS.

The sad thing is, if you can't join online in GTAO anymore, this also is the case in RDO, because the social club save data servers are somehow connected.

TL:DR never forget to trigger the stats servers if playing online.

Pinging R* times out for everyone, that's non issue. If you are able to open website, but only the game is broken then maybe you have/had any mods installed? If no, try temporary disabling any antivirus/firewall you have (including windows stuff), uninstall onedrive, delete rockstar games folder in documents (back it up if you care).

My game is purely vanilla, and i have tried disabling the firewall which did nothing, reinstalling the launcher and the game worked for me though.

It's an error primarily with ur IP. I faced the same problem recently and I fixed it by pulling the plug on my router for 10-15 minutes and since my router has a dynamic IP it got fixed on it's own! If you have a static IP you can change ur dns and ip address manually as stated in other answers. Mine is possibly the most basic fix.
