KGBeast 1,020
This is the third in a series of threads I've done on this topic, researching the actual breakdown of percentage in each game. I list each objective in the game that counts for percentage, and show the amount of percentage you're getting for each objective and group of objectives. I also note any irregularities in what counts and what doesn't. In all honesty this one isn't that interesting as this game is one of the few you can easily find this info for and it's pretty straight forward, but there are still a few interesting things to note. If you'd like to see this information for III and Vice City, you can find those threads on their respective boards. I find those two much more interesting as the structure/organization of those games is a little strange in some ways, and information on them is hard to find. San Andreas has 187 Objectives worth 0.535% each (~0.5347593583). The game rounds so you'll alternate between jumping up 0.53 and 0.54 The way certain story missions are handled is the most interesting thing this time around. There are 3 missions that consist of street races. 'High Stakes, Low Rider', 'Wu Zi Mu', and 'Farewell, My Love'. You do not actually get percentage for these missions, but for winning the races you compete in during them. You can check this yourself by pausing immediately after winning. You'll see your percentage bumped up at that point and not after the Mission Passed message like other missions. That percentage is part of the 25 races further down the list. There are also a few cutscene only missions. 'King in Exile' does not reward percentage while 'Fish in a Barrel' does. Likely because according to the game code, 'Fish in a Barrel' was originally a fully fledged mission. The mission 'Verdant Meadows' for Toreno which is just him telling you to go buy the airstrip also rewards percentage, as does actually purchasing the property. The game counts them as two separate objectives. So you basically get two objective points back to back for doing virtually nothing. And finally you have Catalina's missions each of which are prefaced with a date name (First Date, First Base, Gone Courting, and Made in Heaven) but the actual missions are the robberies committed during the dates, which can be completed in any order. I've just listed them in the order I like to do them. 86 Story Missions - 45.98% 1 - In the Beginning, Big Smoke, & Sweet & Kendl 2 - Ryder 3 - Tagging Up Turf 4 - Cleaning the Hood 5 - Drive-Thru 6 - Nines and AKs 7 - Drive-By 8 - Sweet's Girl 9 - Ceser Vialpando 10 - Home Invasion 11 - Catalyst 12 - Robbing Uncle Sam 13 - OG Loc 14 - Running Dog 15 - Wrong Side of the Tracks 16 - Just Business 17 - Life's a Beach 18 - Madd Dogg's Rhymes 19 - Management Issues 20 - House Party 21 - Burning Desire 22 - Gray Imports 23 - Doberman 24 - Los Sepulcros 25 - Reuniting the Families 26 - The Green Sabre 27 - Badlands 28 - First Date, & Tanker Commander 29 - Body Harvest 30 - First Base & Local Liquor Store 31 - Gone Courting & Against All Odds 32 - Made in Heaven & Small Town Bank 33 - Are You Going to San Fierro? 34 - Wear Flowers in Your Hair 35 - 555 We-Tip 36 - Deconstruction 37 - Photo Opportunity 38 - Jizzy 39 - T-Bone Mendez 40 - Mike Toreno 41 - Outrider 42 - Snail Trail 43 - Ice Cold Killa 44 - Pier 69 45 - Toreno's Last Flight 46 - Mountain Cloud Boys 47 - Ran Fa Li 48 - Lure 49 - Amphibious Assault 50 - The Da Nang Thang 51 - Yay Ka-Boom-Boom 52 - Monster 53 - Highjack 54 - Interdiction 55 - Verdant Meadows 56 - N.O.E. 57 - Stowaway 58 - Black Project 59 - Green Goo 60 - Fender Ketchup 61 - Explosive Situation 62 - You've Had Your Chips 63 - Don Peyote 64 - Architectural Espionage 65 - Key to Her Heart 66 - Dam and Blast 67 - Cop Wheels 68 - Up, Up, and Away 69 - Intensive Care 70 - Misappropriation 71 - The Meat Business 72 - Madd Dogg 73 - Fish in a Barrel 74 - Freefall 75 - High Noon 76 - Saint Mark's Bistro 77 - Breaking the Bank at Caligula's 78 - A Home in the Hills 79 - Vertical Bird 80 - Home Coming 81 - Cut Throat Business 82 - Beat Down on B-Dup 83 - Grove 4 Life 84 - Riot 85 - Los Desperados 86 - End of the Line Percentage for these is given upon purchase. Same for safehouses. 3 Purchasable Assets - 1.6% 1 - Zero's RC Shop 2 - Wang Cars 3 - Verdant Meadows A bit unfairly the Trucking and Quarry assets only give you a single point each despite containing multiple unique time consuming missions. 13 Assets Missions - 6.95% 1 - Courier Los Santos, 4 levels 2 - Courier San Fierro, 4 levels 3 - Courier Las Venturas, 4 levels 4 - Trucking, 8 missions 5 - Valet, 5 levels 6 - Quarry, 7 missions 7 - Zero's RC Shop, Air Raid 8 - Zero's RC Shop, Supply Lines 9 - Zero's RC Shop, New Model Army 10 - Wang Cars, Zeroing In 11 - Wang Cars, Test Drive 12 - Wang Cars, Customs Fast Track 13 - Wang Cars, Puncture Wounds In most other 3D era GTA games you get a point each time you collect 10 packages. Here however you only get a single point after collecting every single collectible in each group. Again a little unfair and somewhat random. 4 Sets of Collectibles - 2.14% 1 - 100 Gang Tags - Molotovs, Tec-9, sawn off, AK 2 - 50 Snapshots - Grenades, Mac-10, shotgun, sniper 3 - 50 Horseshoes - MP5, M4, Spaz, Satchel charges 4 - 50 Oysters 6 Vehicle Side Missions - 3.21% 1 - Taxi Driver, 50 fares - Taxi nitro 2 - Firefighter, 12 levels - Fireproof 3 - Paramedic, 12 levels - Extra health 4 - Vigilante, 12 levels - Extra armor 5 - Pimping, 10 levels - Prostitutes pay you 6 - Freight, 2 levels You also only get one point after completing all 3 Chiliad races instead of a point for each race. A little cheap considering how difficult they can be. 3 Bike Challenges - 1.6% 1 - BMX Challenge 2 - Chiliad Challenge, 3 races 3 - NRG Challenge 25 Races - 13.4% 1 - Lowrider Race (High Stakes, Low Rider) 2 - Little Loop 3 - Backroad Wanderer 4 - City Circuit 5 - Vinewood 6 - Freeway 7 - Into the Country 8 - Badlands A (Wu Zi Mu) 9 - Badlands B (Farewell, My Love) 10 - Dirtbike Danger 11 - Bandito County 12 - Go-Go Karting 13 - San Fierro Fastlane 14 - San Fierro Hills 15 - Country Endurance 16 - SF to LV 17 - Dam Rider 18 - Desert Tricks 19 - LV Ringroad 20 - World War Ace 21 - Barnstorming 22 - Military Service 23 - Chopper Checkpoint 24 - Whirly Bird Waypoint 25 - Heli Hell 4 Stadium Missions - 2.14% 1 - 8-Track, Los Santos 2 - Blood Bowl, San Fierro 3 - Dirt Track, Las Venturas 4 - Kickstart, Las Venturas 4 Shooting Range Weapons - 2.14% 1 - Pistol, 3 rounds 2 - SMG, 3 rounds 3 - Shotgun, 3 rounds 4 - AK, 3 rounds 3 Import/Export Lists - 1.6% 1 - List 1, 10 cars 2 - List 2, 10 cars 3 - List 3, 10 cars 3 Fighting Styles - 1.6% 1 - Boxing, Los Santos 2 - Martial Arts, San Fierro 3 - Boxing, Las Venturas Well known but only bronze medals are required for percentage which is rewarded after finishing all lessons at a school. 4 Vehicle Schools - 2.14% 1 - Driving School, San Fierro, 12 lessons 2 - Boating School, Bayside, 5 lessons 3 - Flying School, Verdant Meadows, 10 lessons 4 - Bike School, Las Venturas, 6 lessons 29 Purchasable Safehouses - 15.51% 1 - Willowfield 2 - Jefferson 3 - El Corona 4 - Verona Beach 5 - Santa Maria Beach 6 - Mulholland 7 - Palomino Creek 8 - Dillimore 9 - Blueberry 10 - Whetstone 11 - Angel Pine House 12 - Doherty 13 - Hashbury 14 - Vank Hoff in the Park 15 - Paradiso 16 - Chinatown 17 - Calton Heights 18 - El Quebrados 19 - Las Barrancas 20 - Fort Carson 21 - Rockshore West 22 - The Camel's Toe 23 - Pirate's in Men's Pants 24 - The Clown's Pocket 25 - Old Venturas Strip 26 - Creek 27 - Redsands West 28 - Whitewood Estates 29 - Prickle Pine Summary 86 Story Missions 3 Assets 13 Asset Missions 4 Sets of Collectibles 6 Vehicle Side Missions 3 Bike Challenges 25 Races 4 Stadium Missions 4 Shooting Range Weapons 3 Import/Export Lists 3 Fighting Styles 4 Vehicle Schools 29 Safehouses 187 Total As a final note, Unique Stunt Jumps, gang turf, robbery, girlfriends, clothing, various sidegames (consoles, arcade games, basketball, etc) and stats do not count for anything. This was the first game in the series to have this amount of unrequired content. Anyway that's that. Hopefully someone else finds this interesting, helpful, or useful in some way. I'd really like to hear your thoughts. I'll be putting up one of these for GTA Advance soon along with some definitive info on the soundtrack in that game since the wikis are lacking. Beg_Ultra 64
Awesome thread, thanks for this. It's very nice to have it all sorted and properly listed at one place. Just one suggestion from my side: Collecting 50 oysters gives the player the benefit of removing all the requirements from girlfriends. They always want to start dating CJ, as well as go on a date with CJ, regardless of how he's dressed, what car he drives, what's his muscle/fat stats etc. I wish someone makes the same topic for Mission passed/Mission attempts stats, so we can finally clearly know the numbers in all possible ways of playing through the game
