Did fishing get nerfed?

Well, fishing seemed to have gotten worse..., First can no longer equip the worms a few weeks ago and now can't catch any sturgeons with lures? I bought the ranks for the lures and I found that I could take a rowboat and drop between 4 - 8 of these fish (until they start to despawn)in the boat and sell them at the butcher in Black Water. I was doing great and made a decent amount of cash in little time, But now I went to my usual spot using the special lake/river lures and not a single fish over an hour. I can see 4 of them following the lure but no bite. WTF. What really sucks is I was just making a video to share this method. Filling my satchel and boat with the Sturgeons/steelhead trouts/Big, smallmouth bass per trip I was pulling in around $200 - $300 per trip. I can tell that maybe Rockstar is playing around the pay to win bs, but in all fairness, we paid to get the game and online is still in beta so seriously wtf?  Already run the risk of someone blowing my head off while unloading the damn boat stealing the fish or the game crashes so hey let's just make it impossible to make any decent cash at all. Pay to win?, No thanks

I agree with you 110%, and feel your frustration, but you'll get better responses/excuses in the RDR2 Online forum instead of this SP forum.

I really don't get all the complaining about online. People have a problem with everything. People seem to just want to be able to make all the money in the game right away..... and for what? So they can have everything right this second. Whats the point of playing after that. Just chill out and relax. It's the journey not the destination. You got 8 years to stockpile cash.

I'm sure gettin' rich or die tryin' is in some players' vocabs, but for me, it's simply that Online offers nothing salient yet to make it worthwhile.  I know it's early, I know there'll be content to come, but as it stands right now, ain't but three ways to make xp and money:   1) showdown/races, if you're not interested in Free Roam at all; 2) Free Roam Story and Stranger missions where you get to spend 20 minutes to earn $5 and then get bushwhacked by griefers camping at the mission markers; or 3) go hunting and fishing to earn decent (but increasingly nerfed) cash for fur and meat and then get bushwhacked by griefers camping at the butcher markers.  Meanwhile, R* tries to make amends by throwing fistfuls of cash and gold at you as bribes for costume changes and decorative weapons. 

 

And that's Online in a nutshell right now.   Through at least mid January.

With the rank system in place can't really get anything until you are ranked for it or purchase with gold bars. I'm just on a rant about it cause I was doing it for a while and fine tuning for a tips and tricks video, And well just my luck the second I get everything set up good to go and all I have is a video fail standing there with his pole in his hands literally lol

Prices for salmon/trout got nerfed and bigger fish got buffed but nothing else was touched. I've noticed that fishing can be a little buggy since the most recent patch tho with lures and the worms bug is well established now.

 

Also, whaddya mean boat? You can't fish on boats in RDO (which sucks) at the moment.

 

This also has absolutely nothing to do with the game being pay to win lol, not that the game is pay to win at the moment anyway.

Hunting has seen very little actually "nerfed". Most of the big dollar items are at the same exact price as they have been.

And your claim that missions only pay $5 is also bullsh*t.

The average payout for:
Stranger Missions: Time: 8 minutes Gold: $0.07 Cash: $9.89 XP: 263

Story Misisons: Time: 10 minutes Gold: $0.10 Cash: $14.80 XP: 228

Prices for Ram Carcass/Pelts and Gristly Mutton also seen a SLIGHT price drop.

I'm getting $7-$10 in stranger missions. Last night with a friend we completed one while in a firefight with another two man posse and got $23 each.

 

I've played about 30 hours online.

- only had my horse killed once

- never been griefed while heading to the butcher or fishing

- done about 20 stranger missions and only had other players get involved like 3 times. It was good when they did cuz it got me much more money

 

Still, I don't understand the complaining. Those complaining are either just not good at the game or they are blowing the griefing and stuff way out of proportion.

I read his post. He is complaining of (my comments in parenthesis):

 

1. Fishing has gotten worse

2. Can't equip worms

3. Can't catch sturgeons with lures

4. Previous fishing spot worked, but now it does not (I'd say this adds to the realism but what do I know?)

5. Fishing are following his lure but not biting. (I'd say this adds to the realism as well but what do I know?)

6. His youtube video idea has been ruined

7. He doesn't make $200-$300 on fishing trips now

8. (vague comment presumably griping) about Rockstar and pay to win

9. He payed for the game and online is still in beta so seriously wtf?

10. Someone blowing his head off and stealing his fish

11. game crashes

12. (seems to assume) Rockstar is making it impossible for him to make any decent cash

13. (confirmed) He does not like pay to win

 

That's 13 complaints in one post. Complaints 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 12 make it clear he wants to earn more money faster.

 

Did I miss something? I wasn't being self righteous. I would say I was being humble by admitting that I don't understand all the complaining.

worms are known to be bugged and the lures are bad at the moment. He had a valid gripe right now for fishing.

I used worms last night. However, it did take two casts with the lake lure to get a sturgeon next to the pier in Blackwater. To me, it seems it's working fine. I think getting a Sturgeon on every cast would be a little cheesy. Fishing isn't like that.

I can’t equip worms.  I think it might be a bug with buying them in a can as opposed to individually.  

I caught a sturgeon with a lake lure last night.
