Is there a way to convert Rockstar edition to Steam edition ?

Well first off all sorry if my egnlish isnt the best. 

So my friend lives in Paraguay , he has the worst imaginable internet connection (about 150kb/S) , I also lived in Paraguay now I live in Uruguay here were have good Internet. So one time I was visiting my friend in Paraguay and I brought him a copy of the files off the GTA  V Rockstar edition , the game worked , then a Update came , since then he cant play GTA anymore becuase he cant download the game , its like a 700mb update but it crashes every time at like 200-300mb downloaded. So then he tried to download it from the beginning , 70GB to download needs about 2-3 days. He deinstalled all files , downlaoded the new rockstar/socialclub client and tried to install the game. It crashes after like 10-15 download time. Also the download speed ist like at 30-70kb/s. So maybe it will work if he will  download it trough steam servers. So is there any way to convert the Rockstaredition to Steam edition ?

Short and simple answer: no. He'd need to purchase the game again to get a Serial Key that's registered to a Steam version. And of course that'd mean starting everything again. 

Besides, that internet connection just isn't good enough for GTA Online, I'm sorry to say. Either he'll have problems playing with other people, or he'll cause problems for other people because the connection is too poor.

Thanks for the reply. Well then there is no hope that we can play again together. And no the Internet Connection is barely good enough. He is lvl 140 just like me , sometimes you get kicked out of the lobby , but not often. And starting from the beginning is also not a option. But thanks again for the fast answer.

if i remember correctly, the differences between steam and warehouse versions are gta5.exe, gta5launcher.exe and update.rpf in the update folder. you can use his account to get yourself a warehouse version then send him these 3 files via google drive or something.
