RDR Online Perfect Body?

Ok I have been trying to figure this out for a while now. So far I’ve only hit that twice (don’t remember how), at the time my character was underweight yet managed to get her to average weight. How much and what should I have her eat besides big game and stew and how often? I’m finding myself having her eat a ton and always resting at camp but it won’t change...

Has anyone figured this crap out?

I don't see why weight is a problem tbh. The stat changes don't make that much of a difference.

Its in the game,so it should work. It seems to be really hard to even get normal weight,so it obviously doesnt work.

That’s what I been thinking lately. I really feel they should look into it or maybe get rid of it. I went hunting for 2 days and she immediately got underweight. I ate about 200pounds of food to change it.

It also affects you negatively idk why. I’m still toying around with it. I did notice that running around killing people gave me an up arrow the other day.

I must be lucky, i dont eat that much but manage to keep myself at average and the occasional overweight in game.

Mostly i eat big game meat, herbs, cans with slamon, beans, peach etc that ive found, pork and venison.

Drinks like beers, rum,gin.

Did you know there is a crate in your camp with free beers in it that you can drink ?

Always eat some and have a beer when in camp, i always do, maybe that will do the trick ? i dunno...

I’m still average. Which is better than underweight. This way she at least won’t blow away. Yeah I got her completely blasted on beer at camp. I’m just as confused about it as you and others. Hopefully it gets addressed soon!

I like keeping my guy Average weight, the Stamina Drain isn't too worrying as long as you tap the sprint button correctly and having some Damage Absorption isn't a bad thing.

There's obviously a science to it, but my rule of thumb is like 25-30 calories per (real-life) hour seems to "maintain" your weight.

Most of the time, this isn't a problem for me because I die often (because I pick fights with the server at large)...and I like to keep my health core at 100% (to which dying will usually kick your core down to 50%).

Big-game and venison should be the cornerstone of your diet.

Also, it seems like you'll have to wait a few real-time minutes for the food to take effect.  If you're impatient and you really want to fine-tune your weight...you can eat a few things, load into a new server, and then check your weight stats.  The server-jumping will immediately refresh your current weight score.

Here's the sh*tty low-res breakdown from the strategy guide.

I’m fat now because the game refuses to update it for literally hours on end ah well. Thanks for the link! I hunt often so I’ll clean out other items I know I won’t need. It’s cool, I melee people a lot when not making money. Melee is SO good in the game.

I've never seen a problem with stamina, so I don't mind being overweight. The little bit of damage absorption can't hurt. And with an "athletic" build, my appearance doesn't seem to change. (Unless it never changes. IDK)

I have a tendency to eat whenever I see my cores drop even slightly.

Speaking of health, would be nice to be able to at least drink water and fill an empty bottle from (clean) streams or lakes.

Eating healthy plants and herbs while only having liquor to drink is a bit absurd; especially when there are adequate clean water lakes and streams in the game... I can pick and eat wild carrots, but can't drink the water?

Seems like there could be some benefit attached to it to make it worthwhile--would just add more immersion/interaction with the world around you.

That kinda makes sense. I don't drink myself, but I've got a buddy that maintains an epic gut mostly with beer.

And I picked up a tip from the game somewhere in one of the numerous menus that eating snacks like candy or chocolate would add to your weight gain, which would correspond with real life dietary habits.

Other than that, I've been underweight since, like, day two or something and I've really just given up on it. I keep stuffing my face and nothing changes and as it's a mechanic that I feel should not have made it into online I really can't be arsed with it. I've got people to run from.

Does body appearance change as you lose or gain weight?

No it does not, it works like this: you pick one of the permanent body types Skinny/Athletic/Average/Heavy/Brawny, then you can become temporarily Underweight/Perfect/Average/Overweight depending on what and how much you eat in RD:Online. The changes are so minimal even going from Underweight to Overweight, and there really isn't any serious visible changes..

The only real changes you will see going from Underweight to Overweight is the change in bonuses, here is how the bonuses are suppose to work.. Each weight class has it's own percentages you have to simultaneously raise and lower to get to the next weight class's percentages and it's bonus. The bonus stats will also be opposite of each other even though they move at the same rate up or down, which means you will have to take a negative percentage AND a positive percentage no matter which weight class your player is. Deciding on which weight class you want will determine whether you are going to have better Overall Health or a faster Stamina Regen.

Edit: I forgot to add that this weight class system is entirely bugged at the moment, it works whenever it works but most of the time your weight resets to Underweight or you can eat whatever amount of food you want and not see a single percentage increase or even a decrease if you don't eat anything at all.

  • Underweight = A drop in Overall Health (down to -7.5%), but a boost in Stamina Regeneration (up to +7.5%)

If you eat enough food to raise your Overall Health percentage from -7.5% up to -1.5%, your Stamina Regeneration will also simultaneously decrease at the same rate your Overall Health increases and vice versa. So once you hit Overall Health -1.5%, your Stamina regeneration will be +1.5% you will then become Perfect weight..

  • Perfect weight = Overall Health (-1.5% up to +1.5%) and Stamina Regeneration (-1.5% up to +1.5%)

You can then eat a tiny bit more and flip flop these bonuses to Overall Health +1.5% and Stamina Regeneration -1.5% and still remain Perfect weight until you make both of those stats go beyond a 1.5 percentage. Once you raise your Overall Health above a +1.5% you immediately jump to Average, but if you lower your Overall Health below -1.5% again you go back down to Underweight.

  • Average weight = A drop in Stamina Regeneration (down to -7.5%), but a boost in Overall Health (up to +7.5%)

Once you raise your Overall Health(again) up beyond +7.5%(remember your Stamina will be the exact opposite), you will then jump to Overweight.. but if you lower your Overall Health back down below +1.5% you will drop back to Perfect weight.

  • Overweight = A further drop in Stamina regeneration (down to 7.5%), but a boost in Overall Health (up to 7.5%)

This is the max weight you can be, the only other way is down from here which means if you want to lose weight, then stop eating as much. Once your Overall Health goes below +1% you'll drop back down to Average.

It's a little weird at first but it does have a vague design, each weight class besides Perfect(-1.5 to +1.5) has a +7.5% to -7.5% percentage scale the player will have to climb/descend in order to get to which ever weight class bonus is desired..

I want one of these, from which I can take a swig of H2O and refill in streams.

Aside from that, obviously, it should be more noticable if it's gonna be implemented.

Right now it's really just a nuisance.

Why are people surprised by a weight loss when they go two days without eating? Eating a lot of sh*t at once doesn't work either. You need to ear regularly, even when your cores are all full. Eat trashy food like canned peas or chocolate regularly to gain weight.

I always wondered if I should've made my character brawny instead of athletic. Do brawny characters get more damage absorption? It would make sense, but they'd be a bigger target I suppose. Probably look funny running too lol.

When your "Underweight" is red, your cores drain much faster and you die quicker. It took me a good week to figure out the relationship between the two and how to adjust it. It does seem to matter whether you're just fishing or battling other players or NPCs. When cores are low, aim is shaky and I rely more on tonics just to get through a mission.

I am now at average weight and have stayed there for a while. To do this, I binged on candy, chocolate and a bunch of cans of corned beef hash and just hung out at camp. Then I switched sessions and went hunting and herb picking (thyme, oregano and mint). Once I loaded up on venison, which seems to be the easiest to get, I headed back to camp and made a ton of thyme/oregano and mint venison to store in my satchel. These spiced meats seem to give you a bigger boost (each have different advantages). Then I binged on corned beef hash again (5-10 cans), did a mission and logged off.

After all of that I was still underweight but it was not red meaning my cores were not draining quickly. The key for me was making sure I dipped into my satchel for a couple of minty venisons while just out and about, to keep those cores fully charged but also spending time hunting and at camp (people keep saying camps are useless but they're not, really). You really don't need to spend a ton of time there either; just enough to prepare food to store and load up on ammo, etc,. You will find after a couple days that your weight is now average and can be maintained.

So to summarize, if you think cores are important,

- binge to get your underweight stat out of the red.

- Once out of the red, stock up on herbs and make storable spiced venison to carry

- Eat while out and about from your satchel

- Camp and rest at least once a session (more if you're insane like me and play for hours lol).

I think it's the GTA effect, where everybody is The Terminator and doesn't give a sh*t about anything except a cool scarf and rocket bikes. *shrug*

Eating a lot of sh*t does matter if you quickly want to get your "Underweight" out of the red. After that, not so much. Other than that, agree with what you said.

Problem is that I'd eat in any game anytime if I got a clear indication of "me" being hungry.

Out here, in meatworld, my stomach will tell me it's time to refuel. Online, I might just notice the brief red indicator telling me I'm starving to death, which usually pops up when I'm being shot to death, so... priorities, right? Anyway, that's too late.

Guess I need to lard myself right up, a minor hit to stamina regen in exchange for 7.5% more health seems like a no-brainer.

True. There's really no indication aside from your cores starting at 3 quarters full when you first log in.

Last night I tried the binge/log out/log back in thing someone mentioned and that does work as well. Went from severly underweight to average instantly. Keeping it there is the trick, I guess.

I thought upgrading your camp's Tent gave you better starting Cores in Free Roam?

I think it changes the rate at which you can recharge but doesn't give any real-time indication of your status.

Have not been overweight yet so I'm curious about that too!

I’ve been overweight in the red...not much difference from what I saw other than me dying a lot faster and running...in the end not all that noticeable. But I ended up putting her on a diet of just bread here and there and lost the weight.
