It marks off when you open the chest, you don't have to actually loot it (not that anyone wouldn't, just thought it was interesting). To double check it before I replied to you I ranked up, got my map from the mailbox (had none on me prior) and my map/treasure count in the awards stats went up by one upon opening the treasure chest. BUT THE BENZ Posted March 17, 2019 Share Posted March 17, 2019 (edited) hmmmkaaaay, thanks for checkin. could have sworn I collected more than 10 maps though....had a good start, then nothing for weeks, felt like R* nerfed the treasure thing...but then it worked again, got maps from ambushes and I even found maps during stranger missions. fun fact: I opened a chest and didn't take the treasure! not my fault though, gator was just too hungry and couldn't wait 10 seconds longer before eating me alive. TiberiusMcQueen Posted March 17, 2019 Share Posted March 17, 2019 .65 gold and 124 dollars from my last map, looted it during a stranger mission, remember to loot every enemy corpse that you can, it's not just hideouts and ambushes that reward maps, and from what I've seen the leader has no more to do with you acquiring the map than any other enemy you loot. Which is silly as the game actually isnt' designed to let you have duplicates (have 2 Special Miracle Tonics, inventory shows 2, but the Fence says I am carrying 1 of 1), but does anyway. Joy. I found 2 or 3 maps during "recovery" missions ([email protected] station). maybe you'll get lucky with these too got 2 maps last session almost at the same time: did a hideout in hennigans', found a map on a dead guy, and 10 seconds later I ranked up tp 65 - so another in the post office. loot map was located at hennigan's (north) - got me 0.48 in gold and 93 $ in cash. (nooooes, the streak...it broke...gold less than half a bar) will open the rank up map later today. I clear probably 3, 4 a day. Not a huge amount but I've only picked up one map in the last week plus. I check every box loot every body. Seems others have much better luck. Don't hold your breath dude, at rank 105 I've still only gotten 55 or 56 maps, and that's counting the rank up maps. Still holding out on buying any pamphlets in hopes I get one from a chest and I wanna make sure it's not a dupe lol, not that pamphlets are super necessary or anything so it's no big deal but curious how long it'll take. On hideouts that don't have despawning problems, yes there are a few, I will leave a couple for after I kill the leader. I always kill the leader. Let me explain: 4 days ago I got a map from a hideout, later that day I got another map from an ambush (no other hideouts or other ambushes between) The day after I did 2 hideouts. The second got me yet another map. Next day I cleared 1 hideout, got a map from it. Yesterday, the first hideout I cleared gave me another. After that my luck streak ended.
