there was at least a week of a dryspell, almost 2 weeks I guess. hadn't touched my stash of maps. started to clear out yesterday using 2 (takes were 1.66 + 1.34 bars, OK) and tada - there's the treasure hunter up the hill again. tssss

this game...won't let me collect the maximum of maps no more. use some, find some, use NONE, find none...mean!

I try to keep mine to 5-7.

I usually only get a map every second or third day, I generally only look at the Emerald tree & on the low hill for the treasure hunter, but sometimes check Dewberry Creek tree (found a map twice) and the dream catcher tree (found once).

I've had 1.78G today from Citadel rock map. Haven't really calculated the amounts, but that was almost 2 gold bars, which I have gotten at least two times before.

Can you hunt treasures in a posse? My friend and I do it with collectables but then with treasures it seems like only one person gets it. Is it so?

Oh I'm surprised the old west didn't crash in a recursive loop, yet I noticed also in the last treasure box I picked up, was another treasure map! The cycle of gold bars addiction, designed to support itself!

Anyway any thoughts on doing it in a posse or does that work for y'all at all? I like how it reinforces learning the geography and place names. And then when you get to the end, sweet sweet treasure to reinforce the learning!!

I'm pretty sure only the player who opened the map gets the treasure.

oh but that’s what we thought too, excuse me, we were doing maps that we both had (unlike collectible), thinking the same, hmm. I guess it’s possible there were second treasures that were just separate although so far we seemed to both see it and whoever went first got it.

Hmmm...seems like tempting fate to have two players open the same treasure map.

Well hey this time we had done the same just twice in the past, most recently months ago, but this time it worked fine. We both opened East Watsons, found it, both could see its orange tingle glowing, both were able to open it and take the reward (0.4 gold, $120 RDO, and an opened tonic!)

And then, we are up at Calumet's Ravine now and she found one but I see nothing. also my map area remains yellow. So I've been looking around awhile while she fished and didn't find it. But I think my answer is maybe that we coincidentally might have the same or different of multiple locations in the same area, either that, may be able to confirm that sometimes if we both find one separately. For now, if one of us finds it the other can try the map again later and we move on, so that is a good enough posse treasure hunting actually, fun times and gold bars

yesterday was a good day on my end. ran into two treasure hunters (friendly + hostile) and found a map stuck to a tree (at night, with a latern beside) which I doubt I have stumbled upon before. was the one near the railroad tracks (right side of it) towards van horn. found a map stuck to a tree round there before, but the tree was definitely closer to van horn + it was on the left side of the tracks.

That was the first tree map I ever found, I was just riding by and the lantern drew me.

I didn't find any others (except rank up maps and the super rare looted map) until I started using solo sessions.

CJ and Frita have it worked out for posse treasure hunting pretty good now. The treasures are occasionally in the same place. Most the time, the first finder just keeps scouting for suspicious spots, or goes fishing for a few (fishing spots can be sus). If it takes long, the less lucky cowpoke just folds up their copy to try again later.

For some reason - It seems like almost every time I get more. I wonder why. but RICH, RICH, RICH!

citadel rock - Frita 1.22 gold, $86 bucks   / CJ -  0.89g & $93.83 and a whiskey

dakota river bend - Frita 1.49 gold + $117  / CJ - 0.83g + $110 + 4 shotgun shells

I'm playing on PS4 from November 1st, now above level 70 with well above 1200 dead bodies looted but never once gotten any Treasure Map from looted bodies. Have anyone else encountered such issues, If yes did you eventually get any Treasure Map from looted dead bodies? Rank up, Treasure hunters and Trees Maps are working fine though.

Played on Xbox one earlier this year where I gotten the Treasure maps from looted bodies frequently. Contacted R* support without much help with the reply that play another character cause the Treasure map issue if there is one can't be manually resolved by them. If any one else encountered such issue like mine please reply and tell me if you eventually started getting them by looting dead bodies.

@kcole4001 Saw you posting every two days with your favourite trusty tree spawn. Can you answer some of my questions.

1. Is there a cooldown on the Treasure hunters and the Tree spawns, Is that the reason you only post your tree spawns every two days.

2. And if there is really a cooldown, Is that on the same tree you picked the Treasure Map from or all the tree spawns.

Thanks for reading everyone and specially those who replies.🙂
