Is the conversion rate fair

I logged on today. Had an update.  Store available.  350 bars for 100.  100/350=28.5 cents per bar.  Is it fair?  I knew 50 cents per bar was a complete joke.  However, I would have prefered 10 cents per bar.  I am gonna wait and see, but I am not utterly disgusted at these conversions.  The worst I calculated was 40 cent per bar.

Even the most expensive things(cool stuff like helicopters) were much easier to get in gta then a single golden gun in red dead. If you pay for this nonsense you say youre fine with the game...i am not.

yea thats all well and good in theory but given some items are basically completely behind microtransactions I highly doubt this will stop people from buying into them

Probably not,which is just sad...but its the truth. I wouldnt pay for a cool customizable house or a hot air balloon,but i could kinda understand it. But for anything thats in the beta? Sorry,but imo its supid.

350 gold bars for £89.99 here. Why would anyone need that much, 350 gold bars? It's not worth it if can grind them all yourself. I have no problem getting 'em

Yeah, I want to see how dlcs will be added before I make up mind.  I think they are reasoable at current prices.  Its enticing to skip grinding for alot of things, but if for instance a house is 100 gold bars or $30...well thats rip of territory, a $12 dollar horse seems ok if you want to just buy it.  Outside of the best horses right now, there isnt really a need to use gold bars.

What their money is worth is for everyone to decide for themselves but your math seems reasonable to me. Still not planning on buying any gold though. If I can earn it myself, that's what I'll do and if the earning process stops being enjoyable, what's the point? I go play something else in that case. 

 

My only worry lies in things creeping into P2W territory... it seems okay atm but a few things are dangerously close...

grinding them yourself takes f*cking ages especially for any of the stuff thats actually content locked if you only have a limited time to play that means it will take even longer so if you have limited time to play your forced into a situation where you either pay rockstar or you get forced out of content , all of which atm is content that was already in the f*cking game which is an absolutely disgusting business practice if you ask me

The biggest thing I don't understand here and this was also an issue is the spacing between tiers this was an issue that was like , you are always gonna have to pay for more then you need and when the price jump is about 20-30$ thats pretty crazy

I am sorry but if you buy gold bars before beta is over, you are supporting their greed and saying that doing things like this is ok... which is killing gaming industry.

Yeah,so much stuff missing but at least a honor trader and microtransactions are in the game now...priorities. 

If no one would buy anything atm they would release new content really fast i think...

Yeah, for now, but this could easily go the same way shark cards did, at first the most expensive shark card was basically all the money you could possibly need, now it wouldn't even buy you half the content from a new update and you could just grind its value in a week pretty easily. I hope they understand that they need to increase the value of these if they plan on making updates increasingly expensive like they did in GTAO.

honestly gotta disagree 100$ should be enough to buy all the content that is currently in the game (one might argue even that is excessive given the average expansion is no more then 30-40$ ) Now especially if we're talking rank reward gold which lets be honest is the main draw 350bars isn't even close to what you would need

Lets not forget that we get free DLC for R* games, so cheap mtx are not ideal, but are better than paid dlc which would split the playerbase

No. The conversion rate is too low. Especially knowing that there WILL be huge inflation over the next year.

 

Either way, it's beta. There's no content. Why the hell would I buy anything even if it was a reasonable deal???

I went with reasonable. As of today I could get everything I'd want for one of the smaller packages. However, I assume that the future will go like GTA. Where the $100 card for $8m used to get you a lot, but five years later it only gets you a business and a car. So, my opinion of "reasonable" will probably change in a year or so.

20 gold bars for each gun part. LOL

The original gun color is fine for me at that price.

Just checked the UK store. The top 350 gold bar package costs £89.99, that's just under 4 gold bars per Pound.

 

Didn't expect much better to be honest after Shark Cards in GTAO. 

 

At the moment that almost £90 could buy me everything I currently want for my character, plus some frivolous items and still leave plenty of change. But, considering the inevitable future inflation of in game prices, eventually, just like the $8m Shark Card, those 350 gold bars won't buy much at all.

 

I wouldn't have bought them anyway, but I can't help but feel that those who do are getting short changed.

Game is not even out of beta stage or whatever, and they decide to sell this gold bar stuff. Kinda freaking greedy if you ask me. Conversion rate also kinda stupid in my opinion considering the price of some stuff you can buy with them.

the pre-2015 me would be mad about microtransactions ruining gaming, but I'm trying to be flexible and adaptable in my old age. 

 

through the lens of 2018 gaming company practices, these prices are pretty reasonable. I'm actually surprised they are this reasonable, but like others have said, inflation is bound to happen over the span of the game.

It's reasonable, I guess. But still too little for too much. They're inflated by about 30%.

 

$100 should = 500 bars

$75 should = 350 bars

$50 should = 200 bars

$20 should = 75 bars

$10 should =  35 bars

 

That would be "fair", imo.

Yea gold is what racks gun customisation up. The prices for it could definitely be lower overall though, for a full recolour you're looking at like 6-8 gold minimum per gun, using blacks, silver and gold will get that up to 10-15 gold. It's a bit too much.

6 parts per gun,so a golden gun costs 30 gold. Its insane imo. You have to do 10-15 missions for one gold....what a grind for a f*cking weaponskin.

It said 20 bars gold each part for me earlier. I reloaded the game and it says for cattleman, barrel - gold color 30 bars, cylinder - gold color - 30 bars, frame gold color - 30  bars, hammer gold color - 30 bars, sight gold color - 30 bars, trigger gold color - 30 bars
