Xbox One X Performance horrible all of a sudden

So I havent played RDR2 in a ~2 weeks, just downloaded the update and my singleplayer performance is god awful! Im talking 15fps and less here, everywhere. Is anybody else experiencing this or is my console dying already?

Yes, I can confirm this, I am experiencing the same thing on my One X, it’s even worse than was my PS4 base game. What is going on? This is unacceptable.

 

I’m riding a horse in heartlands on my own and are experiencing frame rate drops... wow.

 

I think I have to re install it...

 

PS: hard resetting the console didn’t fix it

Well, Im talking constant 15 fps here, not "just" drops (which are unacceptable as well though, I agree). can you check St. Denis and the area around it? Thats where I tested it earlier and the performance was outright atrocious.

Yes, I’ve tried it already, it’s a lot worse than before... in fact these patches are actually starting to piss me off tbh, I thought update 1.03 was ok, but 1.04 had already some issues and now this 1.05 is pure rubbish...

Yeah, if this is a common issue, then we need a hotfix. We're talking about an unplayable state here.

I had a very bad frame rate drop during a cut scene last night. First one I've seen. Audio lagged too, couldn't understand what was gong on

So, its the GTA V formula all over again where patches break the single player 😑

I've noticed on my X also that my frame rates were not near as steady. Pre any patch it was like glass, now its not the same.

The same happened to me, and besides that I encountered lots of glitches. This patches are f*cking up the single player.

Not that I want to poke in to the wasp nest, but as I watched some gameplay video from Xbox, I've noticed so many bugs and glitches of npc's clipping through the ground, wagons and horses flying... they were everywhere... It was shocking, cos I encountered almost none of those when playing on PS4. I mean how is this even possible that they release the same game in so different states? And now this FPS problem... it seems that they don't care about Xbox that much, which is ridiculous... I hope you'll get the fix as soon as possible.

I haven’t noticed anything but then mines always in rest mode and I jump on to play when I can.

I did see that there was a xbox update available and downloaded and installed it before even logging into the game.

Imo, it’s the buggiest Rockstar game ever released. I did experience the same kind of glitches on the base PS4 that I do when playing on One X... I don’t think there’s a huge difference with glitches between PS4 and Xbox.

Well in that case, I guess I was just extremely lucky to have almost none of those... no fps drops on PS4(pro) thank god...

An update for anyone who is experiencing the exact same issue (framerate halved, 15fps at most, never more):

 

I got my performance back to pre-patch levels (still not completely satisfied, but Id say it is "normal" now):

 

I did a second power cycle/hard reset of the Xbox One X

 

and I also disabled the "Windows Sonic" audio setting in the Xbox settings.

 

I did them both before starting RDR2 again, so I dont know exactly which one fixed the  issue.

I assume, that the power cycle fixed the issue afterall, but who knows, maybe the audio setting had something to do with it as well (it was the only setting I changed in the past week, hence my idea to revert that change)

I have done close to 10 hard resets now and they don’t change anything... still the same laggy experience.

 

I have to reinstall it, will it automatically download the latest patch with it though? Or do I have to disconnect the internet before installing?

Yes it will automatically download the latest patch as soon as you slide in the disc but you can cancel and delete the update when it starts though but everytime you start the game it will try to download the update and you'll have to cancel every time.

Really? Ouch, that’s gonna annoy me then... maybe 1.06 will fix things?! I’m just gonna wait

I hope so.... but we said the same thing about 1.04....and 1.05....and still no major SP bug fixes.

For some reason my PS4 hasn't automatically downloaded the last 2 patches which is good. I still think it was better without any patches so may have to re-install. It's sh*t how they're not caring about SP anymore by the looks of it.. Thought Rockstar were smarter than that

I am taking the game slow and am on the end of chapter 5...you guys have all finished the story?

 

@3Prcntr I am assuming you’re a bitter PC player or someone that can’t afford an Xbox One x or PS4 Pro?

Finished the story a long time ago, I have played longer as John Marston now. Sometimes when my son wants to replay a mission, it feels weird seeing Arthur again, that's how long I have been playing as John.

I have decided to reinstall it offline... see how it goes. Might still have to sign in later on to access my saved file on the cloud though

 

Update:

 

The game installed in 1 hour and 20 minutes(offline). 

 

Unfortunately, I Cant even start the game offline, it won’t load in, infinite loop... barrel keeps spinning and the same picture is displaying over and over

 

When connected to internet, the game requires an update, won’t start without it - 8gb in size.
