It had a lot of songs I had never heard of before. (if we don't consider LCS/GTA III) What's the problem with discovering new music? Do we seriously need every game to be full of the same hits we listen everywhere? Algonquin Assassin and Beato_dim 2 Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Did you ever wonder... ...why we had to run for shelter when the promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath a clear blue sky?

GTA V's soundtrack must have been so, so cheap compared to Vice City or San Andreas. All the truly big hits in there were all over 20 years old, and probably going for budget rates or as a package deal. The rest was a bunch of indie stuff, and some of those artists don't even have a real EP out, let alone an album. That's not to say any of it was bad music (except maybe East Los FM). I personally enjoyed a hell of a lot of it, especially the original score and Vinewood Boulevard Radio. But it is all noticeably cheap. Good point, having old music is always a win win Edited January 29, 2019 by isaacster50

Just because you never heard it doesn't mean it was never popular/goes cheaper. Algonquin Assassin

I'm almost sure Vladivostok FM was the cheapest of them all. Unless it was too difficult to renew the licenses for the tracks from Russian record labels and they just didn't bother with it.

My guess is that those Russian record labels probably don't exist anymore or got new numbers and R* tried to call them to no success.
Gtaman_92
Probably because of licensing/costs issues.
just do it bob1
On 12/14/2018 at 12:27 AM, Zello said: Money maybe. Whoever's in charge of Biggie's music probably charges an arm and a leg to licence it Basically this. Same reason R* ended the licensing on IV and specifically Valdistock FM. It's unnecessary money out of their pockets. I doubt that it never went through their heads to add biggies tracks, but it probably would cost them a f*ck ton to licence it. Zello
At least they used the song they sampled in Big Poppa in San Andreas. I wish this was in IV Edited August 23, 2019 by Zello

Tao Cheng
Because D.Piddy owns Biggie and if R* obtained songs from him, that would be big trouble in Algonquin Chinatown all over again! Kind of how like new artists found by Piddy has now turned into religion. I feel like getting licences for Biggie's songs, even in a time frame shorter than a DLC period, would have Piddy somehow work his way to converting Grand Theft Auto being made by EA Games from now on. Coincidence? I think not! Edited September 6, 2019 by Tao Cheng
