Time is $ my friend. You could spend 30 to 60 min. finding carrots. Or buy 20 hay for $5 and spend the 60 min. making $200. Thats how I think at least. ghostsoap01
MagicNarcosis
You can use the companion app as a catalogue and buy what's in the catalogue in real time -at any time whether you're playing or not. This works for RDO and single player. (The companion app forwards you to your socialclub page catalogue, so you can use in a browser if you don't want to use a companion app, although I haven't tested the link in a browser.) Just found this out laying in bed, decided to see if this app still had any use. Now I can ready up my camp lockbox with provisions, ammo and such for RDO the next day, from the comfort of my bed even Edited December 14, 2018 by MagicNarcosis fejkb and Da Elite Ninjah

Cratoz
@Chrismads I never exclusively search for them. It's about mixing. Grab herbs and carrots while you hunt for example. Do both and don't "lose" time. Edited December 14, 2018 by Cratoz DentureDynamite and Chrismads
DonnieVega
If you're in the need for carrots try the Valentine train station. Along the train tracks is where I stock up on them. There's also a couple of injun tobacco spawns there if you're into crafting your own snake oil. U Carmine and DrKrankenstein
anarquista_duval
Cook Big Game meat to fill all your cores. Additionally if you cook with certain herbs will give you gold core for one day: Oregano will give you stamina, Wild Mint heart and Thyme dead eye. There's free supply for your horse inside a barn near Dakota River (up in the hill): oats, horse stimulant and horse medicine. Gun wrap it's not useless. Although it look awful IMO will prevent weapon degradation by 10% in repeaters, rifles, and shotguns. U Carmine

rusbeckia
Best tip imo: don‘t waste money on crap like food, medicine, etc.. it‘s way too expensive and you fill up almost anything if you loot all gang members, check buildings you pass on your way and hunt deer. Forget about canned beans and that sh*t, they‘re not worth it anyways. Also pick up as many plants as possible, since you get the recipes for tonics if you pick them up once and can craft them for free. IamCourtney
I sell all but the very worst cuts of meat, the stuff worth 25 cents. It refills all cores by about a third and between that and looted provisions I have no issues keeping myself fed and a bit richer than otherwise. I agree with you on the plants (I keep a five-plant reserve of all plants for crafting/healing rattlesnake bites, and sell the rest as they refill); but don't discount the baked beans(!)--they can single-handedly refill your health core from 0% to near 100%. I won't mention the gas though... something something Quake Painkeep. lol Edited December 14, 2018 by DentureDynamite Pocket Fox

I don‘t really fill my cores during shootouts and when I do i get in good cover so that I can open my bag to eat some selfcooked meat. theGypsy
Hunting; 1. Small alligators pay the same as large ones and you can store them underneath the large one on the back of the horse. So, when swamp hunting never be afraid to grab some 2-3 start baby gators while you're there 2. Check the map for griefers while skinning things. If you're not using the horse 'auto-skin' method, then pull up the map while the animation is playing to get a sense of your surroundings. 5 hours ago, IamCourtney said: I sell all but the very worst cuts of meat, the stuff worth 25 cents. Well, if you keep the "big game meat" and cook it with some herbs, you get some 24hr (in game) gold cores... depends on the type of herb. So, I tend to keep those IamCourtney and DentureDynamite
Jason
Here's a tip for those looking for "private" or quiet lobbies: use the "Posse Up" feature. It can take a few goes but you'll sometimes get put into a lobby with a posse that's had the stranger glitch(?) happen and they're in a dead lobby. It won't quite be the entire map to your self but the odds of running into trouble are much, much lower. Bakkerbaard and DentureDynamite
U Carmine
In my opinion, I find expanded radar to be better. I always had to constantly press down to expand radar. But it helps to keep track of other players on map at distance. IamCourtney and DentureDynamite
wehweh01
There's lots of free food/tonics to be looted during missions. Love/Honor-Chewing Tobacco and Health Tonic in Cliff's house. Kill Them One Something-3 Cans Vegetable/Salted Meat/Carrot Honor Something-Cans of Fruit and Candy in Shack near What's His Face Kerosene, Tar - Pistol/Repeater Ammo, Potent Health Tonic, Chewing Tobacco, Fine Brandy in back of train P.S-Keep in mind they have some sort of respawn timer so you can't grab them everytime in case you repeat the same mission. Also, lemme know if you find a mission that gives Snake Oil or Chewing Tobacco. Thanks! Kinda wacky to be asking this at rank 49 but can you manually paint targets in Red Dead Online? I haven't figured it out.
theGypsy
In the RDO story mission - 'Where Your Morals Lead You' - during the big battle at the end, just flank to the right and take out Montez ASAP and the rest of the enemies will despawn. Spoiler I set the time in the vid to start just before that... watch the radar when I kill Montez, the rest of the red dots despawn. DLKnives
My tip: If you like to fish don't lose those lures you paid 1 gold for - go to the swamp lure vendor and buy a "Special Spinner" for 3 gold. It's expensive but it catches everything in the water and you can't lose it. Instead of taking 10 salmon and a muskie to the butcher I'm now catching perch, rock bass and others and taking 30-50 fish and getting paid way more. It's made me a lot of money, now if I could quit spending it lol. TyrionV, Pressure Drop and IamCourtney

They might as well avoid the rest of fishes. And the lures don't cost gold if over the level unlock.

I find taking all the fish in very profitable, but YMMV. The other fish go for $1 apiece so 20 or 30 of them make a big difference to me.
