    • Something large and original that lived up to the hype. I haven't stopped playing it since.
      4
    • Pleasantly surprised by it. Enjoyable and will continue playing it.
      63
    • Not that great. More overpriced content for a slight edge in the modes I'm not gonna play.

    • Horrible. Not worth reinstalling the game for. f*ck this, I'm going back to Red Dead.

The prices just ruin it for me, make the death bike, made the mad max car. Don't feel like spending 20 million to have the rest

When I first started playing AW in December last year I scoffed at it, big time. More exaggerated rubbish, I thought, with sluggish gameplay and horrid loading times, but two months or so later, I really like it, so there.

I have abandoned RDR2 because of the back to the grind nature of it and my reluctance to spend five more years adhering to Rockstar's model of underpayment for massively expensive items which are not really worth the bother, so I've gone back full-time to GTA online as my number one gaming experience.

AW doesn't tick all the boxes because of the insane pricing model for upgrading all the jumps, shunts, boosts, scoops, etc., on every vehicle, but over time I have grown to love it, even the outdated sounding music and annoying commentary. Why? Because you can invest in it and get good at it, including all the necessary vehicle enhancements to make yourself a formidable opponent, instead of simply jumping into random adversary modes sprinkled around the map which have no consistency or attractive lure. At least AW is built around a central theme, a stadium, a warehouse full of cars, and a really good awards, trinkets and incentive system.

Just be careful not to overspend on things you don't really need or constantly swap upgrades, armor, mines, etc. on your vehicles, and you'll be OK.

Cant believe I didnt install this sooner... This sh*t only made sense after buying the workshop. I like it alot. But I've gone completely broke just setting up (not even done with it) 1 vehicle. Ughh and there is so much I dont have yet.. Thanks alot for these exorbitant prices R*

Thank gooodness I already own a Dominator but whatever we'll see if it works for any game mode as nearly all are dominated by a deathbike or sasquatch. I have been seeing tons of carnage lately.. In those game modes where people play to fullest potential.. Sparks of glory here and there 🔥

PLEASE STARTING HITTING X TO CONTINUE

THE CONTROLLER IS ALREADY IN YOUR FFFFFCKING HAND!

Did anyon hear that? Hmm me neither? Where do I find premium races? Whats that about

Perfect in a Rockstar way DLC implementation.
It doesn't bring more disbalance into the Freeroam, but only the good features, such as new gestures and colored headlights. Im glad that most of the content is basically locked inside of Adversary Modes. Personally i liked a few Apocalypse vehicles so i bought them. They're expensive, yes, but atleast don't shoot rockets.

The only thing im kinda disappointed is clothing, since there are lot's of concepts and ideas scattered around the apocalypse fandom (which inspired the update), but Rockstar took one of the most ugliest ones and turned them in low resolution crap. Some of the items are cool tho, just like the ayy lmao bodysuit.

Anyways, this is a good update since it didn't bring any OP stuff in Freeroam and that's it for me. Not playing Arena War mode, but enjoying the Cerberus.

Edit: new weapons when???

Not really sure why people say it's dead, I'm often in games that are at full capacity & it's not even x2 $ & RP, remember just because you aren't getting bombarded with invites doesn't mean a mode is dead..

As for my overall thoughts:

All I see from youtubers & the like is what a failure the AW update was, they talk of how no one ever plays it, however I have recently gotten really into it, I'll be honest when it first came out I was interested but not interested enough to want to play it all the time but just lately I've found myself joining AW games, which are often at full capacity and the players seem to have formed a community from just this one update, a community seperate from the greater GTA Online, it's loads of fun sure the payout is weak, but we've got heists, bunkers, nightclubs & many other ways of making large sums of money, it was at that point I realised that what is the point in grinding if you are never going to spend what you have been grinding for.. buying more supplies so you can run the gauntlet once more? others on here may want to tear me a new one for saying this, but I saw this update as R* giving us some way of escaping the grind & in doing that a chance to do something else which is actually fun & as an added bonus every 25th level you unlock another rare vehicle, which is one of the reasons I started playing it, but now I often forget about that & just enjoy playing the matches, some are a win & others are a total fail, but the fun is consistent!

I have even set the arena workshop as my spawn location which my nightclub is making money in the background, the devs have even gone to the effort of making it easier to join an active event by displaying it on a TV in the workshop, youtubers & other commentators say it would be a mistake to add a part 2 but I for one would welcome more being added to it, but maybe instead to try & keep everyone happy add more vehicles/modes in the dripfeed as part of another update rather than a full blown dedicated update.

Anyway that is my take on this update while we are awaiting news on the next.

Feel free to add your take.

Regards.

~John~

It's unique - in that unlike other updates it's not aimed at making money but more aimed being an actual videogame rather than a job simulator....
