Why was this event overlooked where...

...the gang massacre over a dozen police officers during the failed bank robbery in Saint Denis? Not to mention the failed tram stop robbery or whatever it was, where several more cops were killed. That said, why isn't it as publicized within the game as much as the Blackwater Massacre, where many less people were killed?

 

I dunno, this video explains it better than I can at 17:19 and it's been bugging me ever sense.

I don't think the gang is concerned about killing people when they are doing it for self defense.

This is one of the issues I had with the game. At one point Arthur and Sadie (Charles too if I'm remembering right.) Shoot up a bunch of army soldiers, probably hundreds of them.

 

Yet no penalty happens towards Sadie or is it ever talked about. Same for Charles. So it makes Sadie becoming a bounty hunter and working for the law even weirder. 

 

The game never ever talks about the slaughter of all those army soldiers.

My guess-by the time all that happens the gang is already coming apart or has come apart.  Blackwater was the Lynchpin setting everything up and the characters knew it so after BW it is what it is-another day another bounty.  Before BW they were seemingly doing pretty good plus, when you finally collect the BW loot is it a LOT compared to what they had been getting during the Missions.

As far as Sadie becoming a Bounty Hunter and not getting Wanted-I noted in the later paspers in the Epilogues the papers talked about Dutch, Arthur, John and so forth but no mention of Sadie.   Going to assume it is because she was a late-comer in the gang and not known by the LEO's.

Good point-20 dead in NYC is probably a low daily average whereas 20 dead in Lady Lake Florida is half the population.

 

'ATFOTRAF" came to mind re-reading this or After The First One The Rest Are Free.   They can only hang you once-the gang was already under a 'Dead or Alive' for Blackwater-what else could they do to them?   Is there a higher price?

People always compare Blackwater to other Heists and wonder why the Blackwater one results in harsher consequences but failed to realise that the Gang stole the equivalent of over three and half million dollars in today's money.

That is why the response is much harsher, people with money lost alot of money in Backwater. The Pinkertons were a private Detective agency meaning they needed to be paid. Some sweaty Police Officers family from Saint Denis is not gong to have enough money to hire them let alone fund them enough to even care.

I might be able to shed a bit of light on this for you. I think this has something to do with actual IRL old west. A lot of bounty hunters were actually outlaws and a lot of gunslingers and outlaws actually became lawmen too.

Wyatt Earp was one IIRC.

 

As far as thhe Army?  Not like they carried Wanted posters around with them either and what would the survivors reports?   "Some crazy woman was shooting us from the trees!"?
