Heists? Yes.

Any horse-related shenanigans? Yes.

Fun fact: I want to run a Trapper stall.

Have a set of missions to hunt rare beasts to make up custom outfits and sell them to the general public.

Come get yer assless panther chaps!

Ok maybe not but y'knowwhatImean

I think a oil company could be a good way to get cars into the game. You could sell your oil or use it to drive around with your car. That way cars could be in the game but it would be expensive to drive them and horses would still be the way to go. Plus oilbusiness makes sense anyway.

Can I be this guy?

Using horses to transport the goods. And you could get better horses to move the merchandise faster.

So... You're absolutely certain you don't mean dogs?

Only way I'd tolerate businesses in any game like this would be if you couldn't own more than one at any given time. Stop forcing everyone to be the same identical 'God-Emperor of the entire game', R*... :rol:

It's laughable how GTAO has (or at least wants, going by the amount of in-game spam you get if you don't buy stuff) everyone owning an office, multiple cargo warehouses, a vehicle warehouse, a biker clubhouse, a bunker, a facility, a hangar, a nightclub, and now an arena workshop - so that means all players are expected to be a criminal CEO/biker gang leader, who flogs stolen cars/contraband, manufactures weapons, smuggles various stuff in/out by air, saves the world from nuclear annihilation, runs a nightclub (that's also a front for everything else - and the hangar for high-tech mobile control centre), and now drives around in Death Race-style events. Okay then. :turn:

So instead, RDO would be better off, IMO, if you could just do any one thing - you can pack it in if you want, or sell up and start something else if you'd like. If they want to add a mining business, or player-owned ranches/farms, or a stagecoach service, or whatever, then fine - but it's really f***ing daft to have one person run ALL of that across the entire region (all while two dozen other players own all the exact same businesses as well!).

Rodeo!

Just had the idea. Rodeo ride horses, bulls, donkeys, bears for all I care.

I'm working on making horse videos for RDRO, like dressage and stuff. Without R* editor it's a little...eh. Also going to add some good Spanish guitar and Flamenco music. Because orgullo español.

Are you going to collect all the horses in the game? One is enough for me.

Entertainment business. Hire freaks here and there. Bring rare animals. Project movies. Something like that. I can see Marjorie or the British circus guy harrasing you with letters about the convenience of the investment,

Personally I'd love to see businesses in the game. I think taming wild horses and selling them is almost certainly going to feature at some point given it was alluded to in one of introductory missions.

There are loads of options available which would be realistic for the period. Well, more realistic than a butcher paying good money for bird feathers anyway...

Stables. Like Import/Export.

Go out and tame rare wild horses. Bring them back to your stable, sell them.

Other missions, breaking into another stable, stealing their rare horses and then selling them.

Hijacking a train, stealing the horses onboard (cargo).

Also, running your own stable you can breed some horses to make new rare coats to sell for greater cash, but takes more time.

The recurring theme here is horses.

This! I would pay real money for a dlc that gives us the ability to own a ranch (or even a small piece of fenced off land) where I could stable, break, then train horses to sell! But, alas, I know that’s not for everyone and that type of role playing might seem boring to others. It mirrors my youth which is why it makes it so desirable to me.

Damn, apparently we think a lot alike. Let me know if you decide to share the videos. And, yes, please for the love of god rockstar give us the editor for this game, or director mode, whatever it is called in GTAO.

I definitely don't want to see RDRO become GTAO in any way, shape, or form.  But I *do* think there should be an option to (eventually) work your way up, Horatio Alger style, to becoming rich enough to be a J.P. Morgan style robber baron who runs mines, oil wells, railroad companies and the like.   Or more humbly, open a few shops in town, or build and manage a decent sized ranch.   And though plenty of you would balk at the pay2win implications of using lots of gold to buy that much property, I'd consider it a logical representation of some heir/heiress from back east who starts throwing money around in the Wild West like Mr. Monopoly.   If you have IRL money to burn, and "robber baron" is your playing style, then hey...why not.

I definitely want rodeo, and submitted a proposal to R*.

Wild bull riding, bronc busting, calf roping, barrel racing, bulldogging; maybe add some trick shooting and trick riding to make it a full-blown Buffalo Bill Wild West Show.   Maybe an option for rodeo clown facepaint and gear.

When (not if) Mexico opens up as DLC, I'd also like to see a bullring for authenticity.  And screw the howls from PETA and SJWs....it's a game, and it's an 1899 sim:  bullfighting would definitely be part of the landscape there.  (As well as cockfighting and dogfighting.)

Add a showboat casino on the Lannahechee with all high-stakes games, and I'm right where I want to be in Rockstar Westworld.

I really hope we get a business we can sit on and do nothing with. While making decent money without hassle

Ex- Bunker and Nightclub

Maybe we can straight up buy stores, and if somebody buys stuff while in your session you get a small cut? There's so many stores across the map so it wouldn't be like it'd be a big money maker unless you bought a Saint Denis, Rhodes, Blackwater, or Valentine store. I barely see people shopping at say Tumbleweed

That'd be totally fine if all of that were entirely optional - trouble with the GTAO approach is it's only 'optional', if you do without new content entirely, including things like vehicles and whatnot locked behind the new businesses (for instance, if you want to own a Wastelander, then you're stuck having to be a CEO, because you need an office and a vehicle warehouse first). That, and the constant nagging messages every time you start a new session, clearly wondering why you haven't bought All The Things™ yet...

I think we're not exactly off to a great start on that front, considering RDO kicks off with all players as outlaws, all framed from the same crime, all in prison for six months and about to be hanged, all roped into LeClerk's affairs because reasons, etc. Player agency and creativity got undermined as soon as R* started pushing the Freemode businesses on everyone - and in terms of thematic framing, RDO has pretty much started along those lines. The businesses and gimmicks might not be in place (yet...), but the railroading and lack of player freedom/choice is now baked into the core design, which is worrying, IMO.

Not particularly looking forward to the idea of everyone in the game getting nagged to be a carbon copy of Leviticus Cornwall in however many years from now, but I won't be surprised if that's where things end up...

I have nothing against businesses per se (other than their use in promoting microtransactions), but personally, I'm a hardcore free roam player.

I/E was fun for a brief while in GTA Online, but the vast majority of my fun in free roam stems from when I do whatever I feel like doing when I spawn into the game.

There's more spontaneity and adventure in just launching out into the world and seeing what happens--exploring the map on foot is one such adventure I'll be starting this weekend.

Then I want cock fighting!!

Seems to be a lot of it in this thread anyway so why not? :p

Another potential way forward would be hunting/fishing contests.

Biggest grizzly bear, most 3* jackrabbits in a certain amount of time etc with rewards to the top players.

I agree...in terms of server-wide events, I'd like to see fishing derbies, hunting contests, points format racing championships, scavenger hunts, etc

Just gimme Undead Nightmare 2 as RDO DLC lobby with proper story and I'll pay 60$ right away. No hesitation.

If purchasing a Ranch or other business and it's add-ons isn't to ridiculously priced, then I might give that a shot.

I'm honestly kind of curious how it will work if a few or a bunch of players own the same thing in the same session..
