Story DLC?

Do you guys think we will see story DLC for this and if so what would you hope for?

Personally I’d like to see more territories or existing ones expanded. It would be very cool to see the Grizzlies expanded further west and bleed down into New Austin. Maybe some more Indian content ala The Revenant or just Native American expansions in general.

Even if it was just more map that’d be enough for me. That area of the game is my favorite and too little time is spent their.

thoughts?

I’d gladly pay anything they asked for more map sections. This world is too cool to abandon. It should be built on and nurtured for the next decade or more.

Plenty of gravesites and empty barns around to set them up for it. Especially the place that says "Infected inside". I think the whole zombie era is pretty much dead now, but I would enjoy it in RDR for sure.

Are you new here? There won’t be any new single player DLC’s, it’s online only from here on now... unfortunately

I mean I’d play the zombies, but it’s not the most exciting if possibilities.

Witcher 3 killed it with the expansions to the storyline.

You’d think Rockstar could take a page from that.

Rockstar has made something special, we know it and more importantly they know it.

I can guarantee you we will see the world expanded. If it’s dlc or another release, this world will be used and expanded on.

Personally I’d like to see Tall Trees expanded. I feel like you are just getting back there into some really cool atmosphere and creepy country and then it just ends.

Woulld like to see more on the skinner brothers.

I believe future DLC will give us more bounties to compliment  each gang and their respective stories. Also look for more stage coach heists and heists in general.

Its entirely obvious New Austin is going to get more fleshed out at some point, as well as Mexico added in.

Oh, so you've sat in on the board meetings at Rockstar....?

Yeah, no, let's let Rockstar decide if there's going to be SP DLC or not.

People must assume since that's what happend w/ GTA V...you have to think, this was a Rockstar Studios development for Red Dead Redemption 2!

I'm not gonna say we will or we won't, there really is possibilities of non canon - canon dlc. Look at the scope of this world they've made, time will sure tell how all this plans out.

'

So GTAV wasn't something special? You don't think we ALL thought DLC was certain for it? Notice how much unused space and other potential were in it's world?

Rockstar made way more money concentrating on online.... if you think a huge corporation says "yeah we wont make anywhere near as much money, but our fans really want so lets forget the money and do a single player DLC". You would actually have to have brain damage to believe that my friend.

Main point being - If we want DLC, BOYCOTT ONLINE!! They won't favor it over SP DLC if they aren't making much money of it. This is why I hope online just gets worse and worse. However, I'm starting to believe that they DELIBERATELY broke SP with the last 2 patches, to keep you off SP and playing online. After a few online updates to GTAV they basically broke the SP, so making DLC for it would have meant fixing all the bugs they introduced with online updates first, which would bring more bugs to online, then SP, then  more fixes creating more bugs for the other.... see what I mean? It would take a big team just to fix all the broken things since the online updates.... you can't introduce a big new story DLC if story mode is BROKEN.

I’m gonna reveal something to you.

Rockstar loves Red Dead Redemption. Those brothers love their cowboys dude.

Its their baby.

No I didn’t think GTA was anything special. But I have to give credit where credit is due. It is then number one grossing platform title I believe and you have to respect that. A lot of people love it, but not me.

And yeah they make way more money with online. They know this, but if that’s the case why in the world go to such great lengths to make the campaign?

For the simple reason they wanted to dude.

It’s not like they are gonna lose money on making quality single player content either. Witcher 3 is a good example.

I should add that RDR2 is not GTA5. They are very different games with different appeals.

GTA5 isn’t going anywhere for the near future.

Red Dead is something else and draws upon different environments and player bases. I am sure there is a noticeable crowd of people who enjoy San Andreas and never wanted to play in the Wild West.

Cutter De Blanc

I do not think there will be any single player DLC, and we will get extremely limited technical support on that end as well

Exactly.

The GTAO model simply does not match the setting, pace, theme, or even audience for RDR2.  Naturally, Rockstar will want to build and support a loyal SP base as well as MP.  They can do both with occasional SPDLC releases that also expand the geographic and gameplay horizons of Online.

I seem to recall Imran Sarwar saying that Red Dead Online expansions won't be limited to the time period the game is set in so yeah, GTA Online model all over again.

If you mean that they'll take liberties and fit some content that doesn't make sense for the game's setting, then no, you recalled wrong. Here are some actual quotes...

Quote

We’ll take full advantage of the entire world, as well as all the aspects of a 19th century setting that make Red Dead Redemption 2 unique and fun.

Quote

Like the single player game’s story of Arthur Morgan, we want people to settle into their online characters and feel like every activity makes sense for the character, the setting and the time. This should feel intimate and personal while still feeling fun and action-packed from moment to moment.

Unlike GTA V I don't think RDR2 needs story DLC but I would still love to get at least one. Don't care about Charles and Sadie enough to want DLC focused on them though so Arthur as the MC is important. Maybe some Undead Nightmare esque story or a prequel?

DLC would be great if they would resolve some of the other issues complained about-weather, guns getting changed and so forth.

Stories about the other characters?  Masybe but you have to look at their timeline in the gang and before-SAdie was married and had been so long enough to have packed out and set up a decent homestead in the Grozzlies including [[according to her own words]] crops and such-that did nt happen overnight so before her marriage she was probably young and not real interesting-loud mouth problem child but not an outlaw.

Charles-before RDR2 IIRC he was a fairly young man-probably 12 or 13 and lived on a Res going to a school to teach him to be 'Civilized'.  Going to classes every day would not be interesting-rfinished that a few years ago.

Zombies IMHO have been overdone and it is time to find a new 'Monster'.   I still think Grabboids and Assblaster would be fun tho not sure if they can get the Rights to do them.  Vampires/Werewolves have a limited scare and the game would have to take place entirely at night.   Aliens?  Kind of overdone now too but might be ok-imagine Arthur getting a Phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range".

I do doubt there is going to be more to it-too many  annoying bugs they seem to not adress and now the Online is out.

Been two Updates and so far the only change I've noted is my horses getting a lot more skitterish and not always coming when I call or running in circles when trying to load them and it raining pretty-much constantly along with my weapon loadout needing to be reset more often.

Oh and as far as more Undead Nightmare-it does not follow the storyline.  It takes place years after Arthur

Spoiler

presumably dies-have not finished but some people cannot seem to understand how 'Spoilers' work when they post-including the tagline-so I've kind of guessed Aryhur croaks,

Undead tales place after John goes to Mexico 1911 so it would really mess up the whole timeline thing.

Just want Director Mode and I would be cool. If we can't have dlc then sh*t gives us the option to make our own adventure and stories with other members in the Red Dead 2 world!

Let's just take a moment to appreciate the SP story and the epilogues. If it was another company they'd have cut the 2 epilogues and sell it to you later as DLC.

Whilst I appreciate the cynicism, and would often agree with it......

.....there's also an argument that Red Dead Redemption 2 was not designed with profit maximization in mind.

I'm not convinced that they needed to make it that big, that detailed and that long to generate the sales that they did. Frankly, something half the size followed up by a well-designed online component would probably have been a much better investment of their resources.

But it clearly became a labour of love, and in doing so they built a game that really was only perfect for a moderate proportion of their SP fanbase.

I'm not saying that they will definitely do SP DLC - but I believe now that there's a greater chance than I did a couple of years ago when pursuit of the almighty shark card income made me wonder if R* would ever bring out another great SP game again.......
