This is my car, this is what I've been waiting for. This is what I hoped the Nightshade would be.

This has knocked the Dukes, Phoenix and Nightshade all down one peg and has taken pole position as my favorite muscle from the slower half of the stable. Thankfully it doesn't have the same extreme flag values that the majority of the new muscles have. The design is so great that it's looks alone have me choosing it constantly when playing through racing playlists.

Maybe if a Gauntlet Classic ever comes they'll use the main body of a Challenger and the grille and taillight design of the Javelin.

Perhaps, but should that come, hope they go the Vamos route and get reeeally close to the real car.

Well to be honest something about this car didn't sit right with me so I ended up selling it at the time but I think I will have to pick up another to at the very least make it a garage queen, thing looks too good.

For some reasoen this car seems to have most awful proportions out of all muscle cars in game. Front wheel seems to be way too far ahead and rear wheel too far in the back. It makes sides look unnaturally long.

But to be honest Javelin wasn't that pretty either, so let's give it a pass.

amc-side-e1519105246912-630x394.jpg

Apart from that it's cool.

Ops, I didn't realise that Javelin had rear wheels THAT far in the back too. Usually, for muscle cars, middle of rear wheel is somewhere around 1/2 of rear pillar's base length.

Yeah this is one of those rare examples where I'll take the in game car over the real life inspiration.

This car is based off the Ringbrothers Amx Javelin. For that car, they stretched the wheelbase.

Adding to what @HamwithCheese said, The Ring Brothers moved the front axle 6½" on their custom car that inspired the Deviant

I would say i prefer the longer sides, the actual javelin has a giant front section that would look very goofy in the game. So i am glad they did this way. I dont like the way the ringbrothers car look that much tho. For some reason the gta version at least for me looks way better.

Now to be honest the ringbrothers in terms of design are like sbarro, one good looking several bad ones.

Would have been cool if the stock wheelbased one was the initial car, and that custom one was a chassis upgrade or Benny thing or something. A 71 Javelin is one of my favorite cars, a few friends’ Dad and/or Mom worked there. Would kill to see a 71 Matador 401 coupe done here, but there’s my oddball likes again.

dm7AMfm.jpgThis illustrates pretty well the “aero” nature of racing as it changed from 1970 to 1971, with the wheelbase and placement pretty much unchanged on the Javelin. The Dodge Daytona and the Plymouth Superbird were facing displacement restrictions and other sanctions, so automakers went with more the Ford Torino Talladega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler models’ approach of smaller frontal area and longer fastbacks in favor of cones and high wings. AMC was a force in Trans Am racing, and this was not lost on them. MoPar Road Runner/GTX and Charger models also got the pinched nose treatment, and high trunk areas.

I picked up another one and did it up again and it's definitely growing on me more than last time, not as fun to drive as the Vamos but also a lot more stable while driving, on the flip side it's fast but not really aggressive feeling. Not to bring up the Vamos again but that thing feels like a freakin beast from a stand still or low speed whereas this car has a more gradual acceleration curve. Still much fun to drive, definitely feels like how the Nightshade should have been treated, this thing feels like a legit custom restomod with the updated mechanical components to bring it more in line with current technology.

And because the lighting wasn't the best here's another with a nice over the top filter.

5yu_R1HnWUWlkHLZigZQrg_0_0.jpg

Definitely feels like a car I'll be messing with off and on for a period of time while I try out different mod and color combos, fun vehicle.

Yellow Dog with Cone

As much as I prefer the RingBrothers restomod look, I still think that it would have been better if the Deviant had a more stock look by default, having the restomod parts like the front splitters, side exhausts and racing seats as options:

^^ Wow!

Whoever did this, did one helluva job. I still prefer the stretched wheelbase of GTAO's Deviant, but s/he nailed the rest. Kudos to him/her. 👏

Bonus points for location and color combination.

Credits to @G.C.T. (couldn't tag him for some reason), he's the one who made this mod for GTA IV.
