I tried to do my part and report the bug to R* in hopes of getting it fixed on PC, but the ticket ended up to support who informed me that the unlock won't appear in tattoo shops on any platform...

A few months ago it did disappear for me (By the way it did again, and yes - right now I'm sitting in Invite Only sessions with glitched time and weather once again to get it..) and this is what they wrote:

About your question that, this tattoo doesn't appear in the tattoo parlor and you are afraid that there might be a risk you will lose this tattoo again. Let me share with you that this mark at your back is not a Tattoo available at the Tattoo Parlor. So, if you apply a tattoo on your back this UFO mark will disappear and will be lost.

In your email, you have mentioned that your tattoo has disappeared again and you need help regarding that. I am offering your GTA$150k for the inconvenience and to perform the mission again. This forces a save of your character's current state instead of waiting for the game to sync in the background.

The fact that the support gave me once again $150k (I've received it after reporting it, and then when I wanted to ask why is it a thing on consoles) is pretty ridiculous.
Looks like console players have it easier in that case because it seems PC won't have it in tattoo parlors at any way.

In my response to "it doesn't appear in tattoo shops on any platform" I sent them a screenshot of the tattoo appearing in a tattoo shop on a console and asked them kindly to explain the screenshot. Then I proceeded to make a point that I'm not looking for any benefit here, but that I just want them to forward my bug report to the developers or advice me on how I can do it directly so they can have a look at it and decide for themselves if it's a thing that is worth fixing. I haven't got any response since.

As something that's that difficult to get and even harder to get it back on PC after loss, when on consoles it can be applied at any time after 1st encounter - it must be fixed. I'm afraid I'll give up after I lose my tattoo for the 3rd time..

So i just got the tattoo after 3 days of drinking (i nearly kms) and i got a weird glitch/bug maybe nobody had

i am so afraid that if i try to remove it i won't be able to get it again ffs 

first picture shows i have the damn thing 

 

now look at the second pic wtf is this i have it but its locked how ???? and i have the option to remove it 

this is so bugged i think i won't change the tattoo on my back till this gets fixed hopefully

 

I've submitted a ticket and i'll see what they'll say, obviously a generic "it's not supposed to appear" or "sorry take 100k, try again and shut up" response

Are you on PC? If so the tattoo has always had issues there. Either way I would not take it off and hope for a fix in the update. Check if it is unlocked then.

Tez2 said that Chiliad encounter can be repeated, so if you lose tattoo you can get it again.

Also it’s fixed for me too in parlor. It didn’t appear there initially after getting it, but after gender swapping shenanigans it appeared there as locked. Now it’s unlocked and reusable.

@jargonaut, I'm pretty sure Alucard meant to say that you can repeat the encounter, because Fun said it can be repeated.

 

I myself got the Kifflom shirt twice, so there's no reason why the tattoo can't be unlocked the same way. I ended up losing mine so I'll have to repeat this either way.

 

I'll post back here with my results, whenever that happens.

I'll promise to do the same, should I lose the tatt by accident or on purpose. Yesterday I was tempted to do the latter cause I have so many tattoos to buy and try, but I guess I'll grind some casino stuff first

I've got it back, and it's still as glitched as before. I'm on the PC platform. As you can see:

 

 

Nothing at the parlour, and it will still disappear if I change outfit via interaction menu and reappear after using any sort of menu like clothing shop or tattoo parlour.

 

All in the name of science but RIP six hours of attempts, I guess. I'm not sure if I'll try to recover this if it disappears again. This is too much. At least now we know for sure that the event is repeatable, but the UFO won't reappear - at least it didn't for me.

 

I rarely say this but Rockstar's incompetence with the PC platform be damned.

Re-reading the replies above, something was brought to my attention:

 

@Dracorex, you say that your tattoo appeared on the menu after doing gender swapping via glitch. That was how I lost mine a few weeks ago because I wasn't going to pass on the Rockstar Dev shirts that can be acquired that way.

 

Can you go into deeper detail in what you did while gender-swapped to make the tattoo appear for you, if possible? Part of me believes that it worked that way for you since you play as a male character and, since I play as a female one, it may work completely different for me. Still, doesn't hurt to try and find any sort of connection that helps in solving this.

I am sorry i can't remember what i did precisely but I did the gender glitch before getting the tattoo long time ago i just kept checking this list  (I am not the creator of the list)

and got various special tee's, after a couple of weeks i just wanted to start the 600 resupplies so in the middle of that I thought to myself let me check the tattoo parlor and i found the tattoo locked in the shop (that's before getting the tattoo btw) it surprised me tbh

and then after i finished the macbeth suffering it appeared on my character's back but still locked so i didnt change it after that i sent a support message to rockstar about it, after the casino update it was fixed.

 

TLTR: I am so sorry that i dont know what exactly fixed it for me, tbh all i remember is i used the gender glitch and it appeared with a lock then fixed by the update. (the lock, support ticket and fixed tattoo pictures are in this thread)

I took the dive, bought all tattoos and lost the ???? tattoo, so I guess I'll have some macbethin' to do.

 

First attempt took me to the Epsilon building so I now have an Epsilon Diamond T-shirt.
