How long will the wait be for their next game announcement?

Recommended Posts

Zello

The wait from the release of V in 2013 and the announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2016 was three years. In those three years R* was completely silent aside from GTA online updates and didn't release/announce another game like they did yearly in years past.

Obviously game development is hard and games have become more complex now it takes years before we probably get anything. With talk of next gen consoles like PS5 and Xbox (whatever they're gonna call it) coming soon will R* release another game this gen before it's over and cash in like they did with V? How long do you think the wait will be?

I hope not too long (end of 2019 maybe?). One thing is for sure, if Bully 2 isn't announced by late 2019 we gotta run and don't look back. This is over then ... at least for another 5-8 years!

I'm sorry. I want Bully 2 as much as anyone but one might consider if R* even do these types of games anymore. I'm expecting a new IP or a new GTA for 2020-2021 to be announced and to be released in 2022-2023 but at the same time I know RDO won't be as profitable as GTA O. so R* have to work their ass off instead of sitting down so maybe a Bully before GTA 6 or a new IP isn't far fetched.

Redemption 2 is and will be the only game released by R* on the current consoles, and the Western title has just started with the release of Online. There's speculation that if it hasn't been for the success of GTAO, they'd have probably rushed out Red Dead and another title in these past 5 years since the release of the latest GTA game. They had no success in the Online sales business back in 2008-2013, so they were announcing and releasing AAA titles back to back, and barely any year passed with no new game, or story expansions, since GTA IV. Really great things take time to be cooked, so RDR2 could've come out earlier in a lesser form if it wasn't for all the sales that GTAO made for their parent company, Take2, which allowed R* to take their time to fine tune the technology that the old west was built on. Internet's players have become vocal about microtransactions and all, but admittedly it's been a necessary evil, at least for a talented publisher like Rockstar.

When will they announce their next project? I don't know. GTA5 is still charting to this day, despite RDR2 causing some cannibalization, and GTAO is still beloved and played to this day. RDRO will likely not find the success that GTAO has been enjoying due to the limited nature of the game's time period, but it could do just well depending on where they take it, and that with GTAO and other T2's titles from 2K Games, R* will again be given the time to plan and cook the next project in order to produce another very unique and highly polished experience. I don't think they'll find themselves in a position where they need to start rushing out titles like in the old days, which is something I'm personally happy with. Think another 4 years at least before we get a new Rockstar release and it will be GTA VI, but I'd say think 5 years so you don't get disappointed while waiting! It's too early!

Idk how long the wait will be but I’d bet shark card/gold bar money that it’ll be announced in October with the first trailer being released about a week after. Second trailer the following fall. 3rd that spring. Gameplay in the summer and the game releasing that fall

Rockstars game is 100% Bully 2, there is no doubt. There is even an easter egg in RDR2 where "Canis Canem Edit" is engraved on a revolver you get after completing a chain of side-missions. Not to mention the casting calls documents that got leaked mentioning a "Young actor" using "Profanity" etc I don't know when but if the game that is next in line isn't Bully 2 then i have no idea what else they have on deck to announce. Bully 2 has to be next in line right?

Oh, I hope so, I really do. Actually I'm waiting for this game ever since the release of the 1st one. Please R*, just announce it officially already.

Agreed, they have the money to hire enough manpower to be able to create simultaneously at least 2 games with the same level of quality of RDR2. I really don't like the idea of waiting 10 years in between each GTA, 10 for Red Dead, and the other series like Bully, Manhunt, Midnight Club, etc that would probably be forgotten.

like everyone else i hope its not a super long wait. im sure it will be long though. because even if they announced the next game tomorrow. we still would have to wait about two years for release. but realistically im hoping for an announcement in fall of next year. im sure the majority of 2019 is all about rdr 2. and some gta online. i do hope we might get a singleplayer dlc for rdr 2. that would help a lot. but im not gonna get my hopes up for it. i really do wish rockstar would start releasing a new game per year. that would be great. even one game every 2 years would still be better than whats been happening since gta 5. im willing to wait for their games. because i know it will be worth it. just like rdr 2 was. i also hope that their next game will be on current gen.

During the red dead launch they said they didn’t know what to do with gta 6 or where to start bc of the political landscape and the way the world runs now, so I’m assuming 3-8 years for a new title and hopefully it’s a crossover title where people can fly between cities or maps. all I know is I experienced the most fun this winter while driving a Ruston in the snow so they gotta have dynamic weather or snow zones areas in their maps; hopefully both. I think most work being done right now is finding talent to build their next gen engine and they need good enb shaders cause after rtx cards they’re literally being forced to upgrade this year as every other aaa developer is too.

i don't think there will be another game from rockstar on this gen. but there is a chance

i think their next game is gonna be bully.

probably announced at end of 2019.. promise to be released on 2020 then a delay until 2021..

from rdr online, it feels like rockstar senses things r changing somehow, its not 2013 anymore and things like really changed..

so maybe they will change their policy too i guess, releasing games often, maybe returning to story mode dlcs, maybe anything.. so

and like a game in the whole generation, idk, its maybe good maybe bad but atleast 3 games for a gen, i have this feeling that things gonna change for R*, i just feel it.

they will change their policies, their designings in their games, they gonna release games so often, i can just feel it.. and i may be wrong..

It's quite funny how we've come to expect this out of Rockstar now after the last 11-12 years of basically every single one of their games getting delayed. Any time a release date is announced, don't believe it until we're at least two weeks away from release.

GTA6 will be released in 2021 on next generation consoles.  It will be digital download only and will be exclusive for the Nintendo Switch v2  before being updated to play on MS/Sony's new machines in 2023.   PC release will be 2024.

Place those bets.

According to leaks and speculation, Bully 2 is supposed to be announced later this year, possibly September.

Take that with a grain of salt, though.
