Cutter De Blanc
What are some really nice places you've found to set up camp, be it for a hunting trip or whatever? There's a really nice spot just a tiny bit north of O'Creagh's Run. Real secluded and you can just run right over to the pond and fish, or wander around the pond and hunt. There's a canoe over at the Veteran's Homestead and you can putter about on the whole thing without your camp disappearing. Real nice place. There's a couple of other sites there, but none as nice or secluded as the north site. Where do you like to camp? Northern Monkey
Around Dodds Bluff cabin, beautiful scenery, good fishing, and you can sleep at the cabin too Cutter De Blanc, Penicuikscotland2010, SM00V 0PERAT0R and 1 other
SAS_Intruder
I like to use cabins when possible and most of them are at great locations. Only I wish Rockstar gave us an option to sleep in cabins if bed is there but that is not always possible. One great example would be cabin left after missions involving guy with no leg, such a nice place but we can't sleep, sit or rest inside the cabin? Quite strange that we can sleep in some cabins but not others. I prefer pitching a tent so it doesn't matter to me much anyway. saintsrow

In fact all cabins/sheds/buildings should be enterable(apart the ones in St. Denis, as there are too many).
Cutter De Blanc
I normally dislike camping out on the bayou as it's usually muddy and exposed, but I went looking for a good campsite there, and found that if I set up camp at Merkins Waller he sets up the campsite right in front of the moonshine still. It's almost directly off the path, but I haven't actually seen anyone on this path all in-game afternoon and going on into evening, so it's not like the area is heavily traversed. It says "fishing spot" here on the map, but this seems like a terrible place to fish, and I can't tell if it's swamp or river. Still this is the best campsite I've found in the bayou so far. UncleTacitus
One of my favorite places in the whole game is The Loft in East Grizzlies. There's a nice little campsite near the wooden tower too, outlooking The Loft. Only downside is that there doesn't seem to be a great diversity of wildlife to hunt, and no good fishing spots at a walking distance. But it's definitely my favorite 'get away from the city' spot. And of course you can sleep at The Loft too. I'd give a finger to be able to buy this place in game. What I don't understand is that some buildings in New Austin that were enterable in RDR1 are not enterable in RDR2. Why are all of the doors in Fort Mercer locked? The mansion in Tumbleweed is locked. The whole town of Armadillo except for the saloon, the sheriff's office, and Herbert Moon's store. I don't understand why they locked that stuff away. Great fishing, and home to one of my favorite NPCs (RIP). That's one of the most peaceful areas on the map; my hunting and fishing trips as Arthur always revolved around going there at some point. ibsmokin
I’m really partial to the big valley area. It’s got everything I need when I’m story. Strawberry is by far my favorite town in story as well. Only wish they included a gunsmith there online. Overall I’m comfortable either there or basically anywhere in ambarino though I usually avoid staying in the snow for long. I hate st denis and I do not care for really anywhere in Lemoyne. Don’t go to new Austin at all cause it’s a barren wasteland with nothing to really do.
Cutter De Blanc
Frustrating that there are only like five f*cking campsites in the Grizzlies West and they all suck. Don't bother trying to ride all the way up to the top of spider gorge, because he puts the campsite south of Colter, literally on the f*cking path. That was like a ten minute ride there so I can get instantly teleported back to the stupidest f*cking campsite in existence. Why not just hang a big sign outside that says "murder me while I'm sleeping," for f*cks sake, do these nerds at Rockstar actually ever go camping? Cutter De Blanc
Found one in the West Grizzlies that's so secluded I can't even get back to it. West of Planters Baum, in between the A and the M in Ambarino there is a three way crossroad, setting up camp there puts you on top of the overlooking ridge. It would be a great location, however once you leave this campsite and run around you'll find you can't climb back up onto the ridge. You slide right back down from everywhere. As an additional fun little thing, your horse gets stuck up there too if it didn't fall down with you. Why are all the campsites in the West Grizzlies so f*cking stupid? Spaghetti Cat
I like the one right near where you find the legendary elk. Good fishing and hunting. Plus you have close access to Wallace Station for supplies and travel. No Image Available
XAIKON
I find the camping mechanic supremely frustrating. "Hmm, this is beautiful spot, I'll camp here for the night. What's that? I've been teleported somewhere completely different? Oh, that's exactly what I wanted.... Thanks Rockstar, what idiot would want to camp where they stopped and pressed set up camp?" I remember i tried to camp somewhere north of Mt.Shann, and it teleported me literally miles south, a good 10 minutes real time ride. I don't remember RDR1 being like this.... Didn't it set up camp right where you wanted it, or within a few metres, and only then because of unsuitable terrain? Just another component to add to the long list of things from RDR1 that they completely butchered for no good reason in this game. It's particularly noticeable in New Austin where your campsites don't do that sh*t because they were all copied over from the last game
