Fishing

Has anyone else noticed that the catalogue lists a can of worms as five yet when you collect your tins (say i bought 10 e.g. 50 worms) it only shows up as 10 in inventory. Retested again only bout 2 tins and showed up as 2 in inventory. At 50 cents a worm thats pretty expensive,

Fishing in rd is like tennis in gta already imo. Its not bad,but not worth playing. Literally anything gets you more money. Hunting is just better in any way.

I hope they add least add freeroam events where you need to catch most fish/biggest fish etc so it doesnt completely die.

It's  still worth it, maybe not to "farmers" but stopping to fill up on fish during your travels, along with a couple rabbits or racoons and a few skins and a carcass on the back of your horse is a pretty good pay off when you get into town.

Yeah, but killing other animals is a lot quicker and payment is much better on average. And unlike fishing you can really do it on the move, and almost everywhere.

Fishing is not completely useless, its just the worst option.

Thats true. I happen to fall into the every little bit counts category. So if i can have a stock of fish on me when i hit town, aswell as a horse full of stuff. More is more right

Pretty sure the best money maker in the game atm is fishing, fishing lake sturgeon over the road from the butcher at Blackwater. $7.25 per fish, can get them in quick and earn $14-$21 every 5 mins if you get the spawns and no one kills you.

I'll try this out when can't be bothered with PvP.

But about money making method, I think it's Series Large PvP. Because  you earn around $10 to $20 every 6 minutes or so. And it gives a lot of XP. So when getting 5 Levels, then there's Treasure Hunt Map. Some of 'em give over $100.00. But it also gives Gold and XP, as well as $ money. Or this is just close second to fishing lake sturgeon.

PvP matches are like 5-10 minutes not including load and lobby times, they're good money, bars and exp but for pure money there's better methods. Feather hunting is still $200-$300/hr with good spawns.

Gandalf In Space

Lures anyways just don't cut or break the line.

As for fishing not being economically viable enough I generally start a hunting trip by fishing all in game morning stacking the small fish. Then through the evenings I hit birds/small and big game and at night I hit big game and nocturnal small game.

After the next dawn cracks it's time to sell everything. Haven't had time to do it since the rebalance so dunno what I bring in on a trip.

That is if there's no disconnects

Fellow fishermen... err, fisherpeople...

Is it possible to catch your own crayfish to use as bait?  I know you could do this in single player, but not sure if the same applies online?

Shame we can't dig for our own worms by buying a little trowel and bucket, or catch our own bugs with a net.  Could work the same as when you go foraging, but instead of herbs and berries etc, you catch bugs and worms!

Bait shop still the same 1 per purchase not 5

Walk into a store that sells them (Valentine General Store) Walk up to the worms/crickets (right beside the main door) purchase. You now get a tin of 5, not 1.

It's a bug, an annoying one too as I went 'purchase all' and paid a FORTUNE! in the catalogue.

What do you need your own bait for? Aren't you supposed to be top of the food chain as far as fishes are concerned? 😉

But they charge you 2,50 for this.

This makes no sense.  Unless I have a way to catch the fish with my bare hands, I still require bait for my rod to catch the fish.

You do actually, you can scare most fish to shore by walking into them.

Lol that's quite funny.  Think I've seen this before.  I shot a large fish with my Varmint Rifle which got too close to shore.  Easy catch, although I knocked it down to Good quality...

You can loot dynamite from gang hideouts.

Last night I got a message that R* had added $7.00 to my account as an adjustment. I already had received the refund for guns purchased at original price.

It was such an odd and low amount, I wondered if it was a refund for buying worms that were bugged?

The little creeks around Thieves Landing. I go there near sunset and with a varmint rifle, get my limit of largemouth in about a minute. It's crazy-easy. I only do it when I need food to eat but it's quick and easy.

I make about 90 dollar an hour fishing.

I can make more with hunting i know. But don't say it's not worth playing.
