White Shark Posted December 8, 2018 Share Posted December 8, 2018 I like the Varmint Rifle, but the problem I found in single player is that it was easier to run out of ammo using it, than it was with other rifles, because the ammo type isn't routinely carried by NPCs, so when I looted bodies, I was rarely able to restock my Varmint Rifle. I haven't bought it online yet, but want to know if anyone who uses this has the same ammo issues? Do you have to regularly stock up at the gun shop, or do you have locations you visit which spawn free ammo for this particular rifle? Would appreciate advice! Thank you! You even safe a bit of money,if you got 90/100 bullets and buy at the gunshop you pay for 30 bullets although you only get 10,doesnt happen at the post office. I'm quite a frugal player, and only ever buy items if I absolutely have to. I hunt for all my own food, forage for plants, herbs, veg and berries for both me and my horse, I loot as many bodies as I can for ammo and items, and I loot all buildings I come across. Dirt cheap purchase price and while the ammo is hard to come by out in the world, one single bullet from it can easily kill a small animal that'll sell for enough to buy literally hundreds more rounds. As someone above me said, buy multiple boxes of ammo from your personal catalogue (40 rounds per box). Then just open your mail whenever you need to top off and you'll save even more money in the long run. Same goes for all ammo for that matter. I've been hunting with it for a week and doing well getting plenty of 3 star kills . Yet often enough I was left wondering ....how did that heron not die from that shot ......now I know why .
