Cold Weather Outfit

Recommended Posts

Scuba 21

Anyone figure out the combo?

Tried sheep wool coat with batwing chaps plus gloves but no dice.

Hearing vest might be involved too but no confirmation.

Really dont know why they made this so complicated.

Only way to legitimately check on outfit is in base camp also.

It seems bugged, I had an outfit that worked for cold weather but after making a slight alteration that was just changing to a different shirt color it's now marked as average weather.

Just what is the cutoff between Average and Cold weather anyway? The best I've got is an outfit rated for Average temps and it's been fine up to -5°C, haven't gone any colder.

Wasted $74 for a sheepskin coat, which should keep you warm. But if the temperature is below zero, you get the ice warning. I think only the Buffalo coat is weather proof, which is locked behind level 95 and 75 gold bars.

I tend not to care and go where i want without giving a damn about what i'm wearing. It doesn't make THAT big of a difference...

On a slightly related note, does anyone know if the meteorite pieces can be found in online as well? For those who don't know, in SP you can find up to 3 meteorite pieces. Each one increases your resistance to cold and hot weather by 10%.

Wearing the Union Suit, a vest and the Sheep's Wool Jacket I was able to make a cold weather outfit. I guess the union suit was the missing piece.

Sheepskin or Outdoorsman vest in combo with a heavy coat and gloves.

Too bad the vests don't unlock until high 30s - low 40s, and the only premade cold weather outfit is locked to higher level too.

Yes, game. I'm aware I don't have a cold weather outfit on my horse. YOU WON'T LET ME MAKE OR BUY ONE! I'm not spending 20 gold (or more) for a warm vest or even more ungodly amounts of gold on a heavier coat or outfit early out of spite.

Unfortunately I still have not found a solution for this! :(

My female character came with the warm Oudoorsman vest owned from start.
I immediately tried it in combination with the Montana coat from the free Grizzlies outfit(ps4), since that was more than enough in SP. I tried it with every obtainable shirt under the vest & coat, with gloves, and any pants & boots, hats, etc options.
Result: Only suited for average temperatures.

After some research, I bought the Sheep wool jacket and tried all the same combinations above. Sadly I just get the same results. Funny enough; one of the many combinations including the Sheep wool jacket and the Outdoorsman vest, resulted in an only suitable for hot weather outfit, lol 🤣

This must be bugged, and I hope R* fixes it soon!

I recommend everyone to report this to Rockstar's feedback page: It takes you 3 seconds from the direct link below. Just write/paste:

Please fix the bug regarding outfits suited for cold weather in Red Dead Online!

The more feedback they get, the sooner they will hopefully look into it, and get it fixed:  https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=aad6b01f

edited: Feel free to be a little more specific in your feedback message if you have a personal failed outfit experience to share. But here I think quantity will be more important than quality(detailed reports). Getting thousands of "Fix the damn cold weather outfit bug", will have more chances to get this fixed soon, compared to just a handful of users writing very long detailed feedback messages about the bug. (the long messages will hopefully be appreciated by the development team if the storm of short complains forces them to look into the case more deeply)

You may have to make that message more specific so Rockstar knows exactly what's going on.

Yes, you're right.

Myself I of course wrote all the details I experienced, and I recommend others to write their own specific failed combinations to obtain an outfit that is truly suited for freezing temperatures.

But many users don't want to bother writing long feedback messages to R*, so just having the majority of RDOnline players sending in many "short and not sweet" lines about the cold weather outfit bug, will probably get the dedicated team to take a closer look on what everyone is talking about ;)

I hope they add a few closed winter coats to Online and Story mode specically for cold weather outfits.

Or even better: An option to open/close the existing coats & jackets. So you could modify them just like the shirt openings, sleeves and pants(over/under boots).

I also hope they bring in the trapper eventually. If it is not practically possible to have legendary animals online, at least have different challenging trapper requests to get the same crafted outfits as in SP.

They gotta work on the cold weather business in online. It rains in -12 degrees celcius... And of course, the protective clothing doesn't actually work.

So do I. The Grizzlies Outlaw outfit is not a cold weather outfit in either SP or MP. It's for "average" temps. (Average being all the way down to the 30s). Get much colder than that, and it won't be enough.

Unless I'm missing an outfit. The other 2 I got were both suitable for hot temps.

I tryed but being allowed to only use 500 tokens is not enough to make a long feedback message...

I chose the wool shirt from the tutorial and realized it was level locked when I finally got released into the wild. That plus the traditional vest, sheepskin jacket, and riding gloves gets the job done for me.

Might have just got lucky though idk -_-

In singleplayer you need to add gloves for it to become marked as a cold weather outfit, in online it's a bit random whether or not adding gloves will work or not.

My full outfit is: Stalker Hat, Union Suit, Outdoorsmen Vest(lvl 87, but spawned at beginning with this), Sheep's Wool Jacket, Studded Pants, Riding Gloves

So ya, I forgot about the lvl 87 Outdoorsmen Vest so that may be helping as well because it says "slightly warm" when highlighted, unlike the other vests.

key for the warm outfit is to go shirtless in the grizzlies or so I'm told.

No really, its totally broken.

Just jackets don't work. You need a "Warm weather vest" underneath it. For example I do "Outdoorsman vest" that I got during character customization and "Sheep skin coat" and it works.

An average would just be a Jacket. The "Sheep skin coat" with a open buttoned shirt counts as average.
