New Weapon Prices & Gun Maintenance

Recommended Posts

Bakkerbaard

Here's a daft question, but I'm asking it anyway.

I haven't really looked through the weapons more than once since they were utta my financial league anyway and I figured if I went into a shooting match there'd be pickups. So right now I'm not sure if the prices have already been adjusted. Are they?

I see the Varmint Rifle is still 72 bucks and I haven't had any notification about the bonus cash yet either, so I'm left wondering.

Second question, less daft, very Dutch though:

Gun oil costs 1,50. Right now the gunsmith charges me 1,50 for a cleaning. I find it odd that all three of my weapon are a dollar fifty levels of cleaning, especially when I look in the weapon wheel and the first bar hasn't even drained completely yet.

So, does the quality get to a worse than 1,50 level? In which case it would be better to buy three gun oils than to go to the gun smith like I prefer to do. Even though in Story it sometimes seemed he didn't do all that good of a job.

Prices are updated. Cleaning always costs 1,50,no matter how dirty it is. Wish we had the singleplayer system at the gunsmith.

It’s never worth it to buy oil or clean it in gunsmith. Roam around to loot cabins/bodies. I have ~10 in my inv and bought 0. I always oil my weapons if they are worse than 50% or when I want to upgrade them.

Right, first things first.

1.Best overall revolver-Schofield-Best for power and rate of fire-BONUS: Can adjust barrel length.

2. Best overall Pistol-Volcanic-Based of power, low rate of fire but the other pistols aren't worth it due to lack of power unless you use different ammunition.

3.Best overall Rifle-Bolt actions-This is a tough decision because there are only 2. But if your entire reason for buying one is "Range" then I would say the Springfield.

4. Best overall repeater-Lancaster-I have the Litchfield and Lancaster and the Lancaster alway's outshines the Litchfield, mainly in reload time and time to center shot.

5.Best shotgun-Opinion-Sawn off-Mainly because using a shotgun against players is impractical, if your going to be that close, than might as well go with the Sawn off because it is very powerful and you don't need range. LVL 25 dual wielding with a Sawn off and Schofield is an excellent combo.

-Gun Maintenance-

1. Fun fact that wrapping your weapons in the leather isn't just for aesthetic purposes. It in fact decreases the rate at which weapons degrade.

2. You shouldn't have to pay for the oil or cleaning unless you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO. There are a few houses on the map that carry gun oil. You can hop over to another free roam and load up on it. Location follows:

Check the spoiler for location circled

The Loft

It is a gang hideout, but rarely spawns. You can find an excess amount of canned goods as well and Special ammunition in the basement.

(Basement access is at the back of the house-Opposite of door)

Obviously. It combined six shooter looks with overal usefulness.

I used to carry the 1911 (or 1901?) pistol thing in RDR1 as you just couldn't deny the impressiveness of that thing, but I always felt and will always feel that a cowboy in that are should be carrying a revolver. For sheer esthetic reasons and it's pretty much the last image of my childhood that hasn't been crushed. So, I'm skipping on pistols.

While it gives you some considerable reach and big boy firfepower, it completely craps out on you when someone gets within repeater range. The bolt action click-click-crank-squeek-click-keep-pressing-R2-all-you-want-that-ain't happening.

Other than that, I'm bloody well happy I bought it.

Ah, good to know. I love the iconic look of the Lancaster and Arthur carried it as soon as it became available, but purely stats-wise it's inferior to the Carbine. To the Litchfield as well, I believe, so I haven't upgraded to it in Online yet, with heavy heart I might add. But now it's on the to-buy list.

As a dual-wield option Sawn-off and revolver is excellent, as it also frees up a slot on your back, where normally I would carry the Pump Action. It may not be the best one, but it just feels the most like a cannon and that whole "BOOM! Ka-click." bit is just too epic.

I did not know this. Too bad too, as I really don't like the look of it.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to figure out. I'd prefer not to pay for it, trying to plug those holes in my wallet. The main reason I go into houses is gun oil. Jewelry comes second.

If i clean a gun i always do it myself and not at the gunsmith, i cant see how much it degraded at the gunsmith, i can when i do it myself.

Does it matter? If you wanna upgrade your gun,you have to clean it even if its barely dirty. And its always the same price like i said.

I wasnt talking about upgrading, just cleaning only.

It does matter if its only a lill degraded or a lot, im not going to clean it or let is clean all the time when its not much degraded.

Saves money.
