S1ster P1stol
This may sound silly, but the turkoman I had in story mode was ballsy af. It rarely got scared of other animals or combat. This was on my first play through. 2nd play through, it could barely take being near an alligator. And i very well remember the play through it was like "oh hey". Now they just seem like big babies? I thought since I t was part war horse it wouldn't do that. But it almost feels like they nerfed them or something. So I had to an Ardenes. Which I'm not complaining. They're beasts. The turkoman I have online Is the same as story mode. Idk, I just feel they may have done something with the horses being that I did play before online was released. I may be wrong too Van_Hellsing

I have all 3 Turks and both MFT. Out of the Turks the Silver one has a noticeably better temperament than the other 2, but all 3 can be noisy. As for the 2 MFT, the Silver Dapple Pinto is practically useless for hunting, it's overall temperament is good, but it's so impatient, it will neigh and whinny constantly, which startles animals. The Amber MFT, on the other hand, is almost silent in all situations, and is easily the bravest horse I own. It will charge into firefights and die without complaining and only bucks me when I make a mistake and allow a Cougar to get behind it, bears and wolf packs are not an issue. All my horses are male too, so the differences aren't down to genders behaving differently. It genuinely does seem to be random. In my opinion it looks great, especially without appearance changes. 100% agree. I have the same horse and it's a winner in both looks and performance. And with a almost full circle of stamina, it'll keep going like the friggin Energizer Bunny. I have the Beaver Roping Saddle, but for this one I'm using the Panther Trail one. My old horse was the Black Chestnut Thoroughbred. While it's still a great horse with the same speed and acceleration, it doesn't compare in stamina. On a long run, I'd be pumping it full of horse stimulant like it was Michael Jackson on propofol. Although my fox trotter in the silver dapper and it takes hunting well. I guess my first play through I got lucky with a well tempered horse. I will be saving up for the strawberry roan Ardenes though. I love the huge horses and it being a war horse just makes it better. I also had one in story mode and he's a beast. I can not use the arabians or any skittish horses. I'm not patient enough lol. ALifeOfMisery
aFinn
I recently got Amber Champagne MFT after some advice from ALifeOfMisery and it's now my main horse. I had the Silver Dapple Pinto MFT but I never liked the noisyness of it and Amber is so quiet and calm compared. Love it! Wickahoney
So I'm a bit curious about horse stats in online vs SP. I have a chocolate roan Dutch Warmblood in SP, and it has level 9 stamina at max bonding which I'm assuming would put it on par with the Foxtrotter so long as r* kept the stats the same for both modes. It's also significantly calmer in the swamps than my gold Turk. In any case, I won't be able to test it out in online as I decided to fill my final stall with a little Morgan mare. Easily has the worse stats out of my herd of subpar steeds but she is adorable.
Ghoffman9
I hate how horse customization is tied to performance. Its like buying an Entity XF in Gta Online and painting it green instead of blue would magically make it faster. Upgrades to performance were mainly things under the hood that you could not see and not affect the vehicle's appearance. Saddles and horse colors should be a cosmetic choice only and not affect how well it performs. What you end up getting is a bunch of people using the same horse with the same color and with the same saddle. They should simply offer different qualities of each horse. In real life, just because two horses are the same breed does not mean that they are gonna perform the exact same way. Use this to have different qualities of each horse, the higher the quality the better stats it has.The same can be done for saddles where you can have a choice between having a shoddy version of a particular saddle and have a well made version of the same saddle that offers better stats. What are even talking about? Horse color has no effect on performance and is only cosmetic There is different quality of the same breed, yeah they're a different color or did you want them all to be the same? Saddles should be cosmetic only, yet you want a cheap and upgraded version of a saddle that affect stats which is already in the game?

You went and proved my point, as you scrolled through each horse you can see its health and stamina stats change. For the sake of time I will used the Arabians since they're the first seen in this video. The Black Arabian reins supreme with having the most health and stamina in this particular breed. The White Arabian comes second with having the same speed and acceleration as the Black Arabian but has less health and stamina. The Red Chestnut comes third with having the lowest health and stamina as well as having the lowest speed and acceleration. Try looking down on the lower left there of your video you linked. If it wasn't tied to the color of the horse then all the horses of the same breed would have the same health, stamina, speed, and acceleration, but they don't. Saddles themselves affect things like core drainage, and how quickly stamina regenerates. Clearly having an impact on performance as well.

I'm not even sure what your point is, and I know what's on the video, I made it. Let's try to get on the same page. Let's clear up the horse one and use the Arabian as an example. Do you want them all to be the same color (I asked but you didn't answer) or have different stats for each color? You said saddles should be cosmetic only, then say there should be a "shoddy version of a particular saddle and have a well made version of the same saddle that offers better stats." Are you saying that the stock and improved versions should look "exactly" the same? If that's the case, I think you're splitting hairs since they basically look the same with the improved one being a little more fancy.

That much remains to be seen, at least when it comes to the speed and acceleration. Health and stamina however is a lot more concrete. Lots of stamina does come in handy during select stranger missions where Rockstar shuts off your ability to regenerate stamina by pushing the left analog stick. Missions like mail bag delivery missions come to mind. Another thing I been curious about is if the amount of stamina regenerated by pressing the left analog stick varies between the horses. Something itself was never really tested.

I think its maybe a bug on the speed thing the only discernible difference we have found is the Arabians are far more nimble in corners and tight tracks thru woods etc they dont scrub of speed as quickly. Your correct on the rest stamina and horse health all do seem to work ok until you start popping horse tonics that levels the field

ALifeOfMisery
Something very odd, but welcome, has happened with a couple of my horses. Yesterday I decided to bite the bullet on Nacogdoches saddles for two of my lesser used horses which I'm intending to keep. Already had one for my main Amber MFT, so I bought one each for my Silver Dapple Pinto MFT and Silver Turkoman. The reason that these two haven't been used as much as my Amber MFT is that the Pinto MFT was scared of its own shadow and the Silver Turkoman, although brave, was noisy af while hunting. But, after deciding to take them out with their new saddles, both are now just as quiet and sturdy as my Amber MFT. I played for a few hours while rotating them and barely heard a sound. My Gold Turkoman is still completely broken with red cores and the Dark Bay Turkoman seems to actively scare away any animal close enough to shoot. Has anyone else noticed their horses personalities change?
