Gunboat138 Posted December 5, 2018 Share Posted December 5, 2018 It's been driving me crazy that I can't figure out how to get a 10/10 on facial hair. I've seen 10 different guides with 10 different solutions and none of them got me past 7. However with a combo of a tidbit I found in a guide and my own experimentation, I'm pretty sure I've cracked it. It's directly connected to your head hair. If you've got 7/7 hair, the tonics don't work at all. So what I've been doing is shaving Arthur's head, drinking 3 tonics and waiting. I'm fairly certain you need to wait until it prompts you that "hair tonic has worn off" before drinking more, and I'm fairly certain it resets if you get impatient and drink more. And that's really the key, patience. It takes an ungoldy amount of time, like to the point where I said "f*ck it, this sh*ts broken" and then, naturally my beard turned into an 8. Used the same formula to get to a 9 and I'm midway through chapter 2. So the time jump "you have to be at chapter so and so" is wrong. It just takes forever. So the steps would be 1. Get hair and beard to 7 2. Trim hair at least 2 levels to level 5 or shorter(3 hair tonics stacked works for 2 levels of head hair) 3. Take 3 hair tonics 4. WAIT. Be patient. Don't blow your wad and wait til it actually says "hair tonic has worn off". It takes way longer than you think, so wait. Should have grown 2 levels of head hair in this time. 5. Repeat. It's gonna take multiple rounds of this to go up a beard level. I don't have an actual number of days, I'm filling my days with a mix of hunting, exploring, missions, etc. I've gotten to a level 9 and as I said, I kind of stumbled upon this so me saying this is 100% correct would be untrue, but I've been experimenting for a month and I'm fairly confident it's the way to do it. I don't get to play every day, so it might actually take me a while to get to 10/10 but I will attempt to update you all. If anybody else wants to try this method, please do and post updates. It probably has a form of internal clock, but I think it continues on after you fire the game back up. Like it doesn't progress when you're not playing Again, this is all conjecture on my part. Let us know if you hit 10 with this in chapter 2. If this works for multiple people I'd be one happy mister, mister. Also if this works meet me in the saloon in valentine for a whiskey. Actually it'd be neat on RDO if you could buy drinks for someone. If you're on on ps4 my tag is heisenbeard. The only kink in this theory's armor is I grew out my beard to a 9/10 in my first playthrough but that was because of time jumps in the game. IM SO CONFUSED. 2 MONTHS IN. Stayed the course, wasn't as strict with the hair tonics as I originally reported, took maybe 2 rounds of them on the jump from 9 to 10. For me, "hair tonic has worn off" meant "you just leveled up in beard" This method 100% worked for me, it took an ungodly amount of time(im pretty sure saying "f*ck this, its broken" is part of the process), I have all satchels and 50 challenges done, but I got there. I'm not fully willing to say that it's not bugged, based on other people's reports, but it worked for me and it does take a great deal of patience. But knowing how long it takes and knowing how good all the other facial hair is in this game, it's almost not worth it to me. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
