What's so hilarious about it?

I work for a private healthcare company that specialises in end of life care for terminally ill, expatriate, patients who choose to refuse ongoing treatment.

I can assure you, none of the terminally ill people in our care, the nurses, doctors or myself find it the least bit amusing.

You have shown yourself to be a charming individual though.

What’s any of that got or do with playing a video game??

Are you trying got equate what you do for a living with your own character being shot at?!

That is kinda funny really if not hysterical.

Need drugs

A standoff should be the only way to kill other players in freeroam. If someone kills another player outside a standoff or pvp playlists the law should hunt them down.

I can't believe people are crying that players are killing them in Red Dead Online...it's amazing to me.

I'm sorry, but Red Dead Online is not a shopping & fishing simulator! You're supposed to be engaging with other players! I don't shoot every player that passes me & not every player I pass tries shooting me, but when that happens it's a blast...you know it is too!

The only real problem with Online is the community...you guys are way too passive. I slammed my horse into a guy, destroyed all his exotic pelts, tackled him & choked him to death & he took off when he respawned! WHAT'S THAT?!!?

Why is Fortnite more aggressive than Red Dead Online?!!?

I tried selling to a butcher the other day & was killed as soon as I got off my horse. Instead of running away, switching sessions, or filing a complaint through the player menu (which happened to me!), I stuck around & what started off as a gunfight between myself & two others lead to 4 different posses fighting each other in & around Blackwater for like 20 minutes.

Why & how could you not have fun with that or better yet, why would you NOT want that to happen?!!!?

I mean, I bet when you played GTA Online you killed plenty who were just driving by, minding their own business. However, the people who played GTAO as a car driving game deserved & expected to be killed! SAME HERE!

If you're upset with players being "Outlaws" in Red Dead Redemption you are what's plaguing Online...it's not money or anything else.

Why would you NOT want this to happen.  Oooo maybe I don't want to throw my money away on ammo in a random battle with other randoms. I stopped playing showdown too as soon as I noticed it was my ammo.  Fortnite the ONLY thing to do is kill each other so obviously will be more aggressive.  Capitals complaining about a guy who goes their own way after being attacked?  The first thing you learn in any martial arts training is that a real man walks away from a fight, maybe he's just more well adjusted than you are.

I rolled into good old Valentine last night with stuff to sell to the butcher. Pulled up next to a guy selling. We finished and gave a wave hello. He went on his way.  No problems. Saw a player cooking at the camp across from the butcher. Headed over to cook up some stuff myself. We sat there for a while cooking/crafting away. He finished, got up, pulled out his gun and shot me in the head. I thought we were friends lol no such luck. Still Don’t get it

Lol...or he just did it because he can. Sure it sucks if you get killed but you should mainly blame the game. Everyone gets a gun but no voice and killing has no consequences, what do you expect.

In context with the posts before the one you quoted it is clear that when one spends their days caring for people who are gearing up to die, you really just wanna relax when you get home.

I don't know the guy (girl?), though they deserve my respect for what they do, and I haven't spent very much time caring for dying people, but I can quite easily imagine that one does not need any more challenges after that. Read the posts back and you'll get what they mean.

Who says they can't do what they want? We're simply saying, let others do what they want.

Again. We need two different server options. PvE and PvP. And most likely a third, free aim Hardcore.

You're literally asking why nobody plays like you and enjoys it the ways you do, then asked why a a shooter based title is less passive than a sandbox title.

If this game was a true PVP there would be no co op activities like fishing or hunting and etc.

Not everybody is an aggro defense kind of guy, some people just wanna stock up on provisions before all that fighting, too.

PLAYSTYLES, my guy. PLAYSTYLES. Fortnite is a true PVP based game.

I see a lot of people saying they’ve not had much griefing and I’m glad that’s the case for them, but I have no such luck. I can’t even sit on a bench with out being shot in the head. The worst part is the “parlay” system though, don’t get me wrong having a way to stop griefers from hurting you is great. However why am I the one being punished for going about my business?!?!? If you choose to parlay It spawns you so far away that by the time you get back to what you were doing the parlays over and they can murder you again. For f*cks sake this isn’t gta. (After thought) being able to see a players reputation by there name might also help a bit to give an idea of which players are more friendly than others

Also to clarify, I’m not saying one random person shooting me is griefing but I am consistently hunted down by these types of people

Not accurate. Some players are friendly, but are simply playing a low-honour playthrough. OR they have been farming AI (low honour)

Personally when I see people around me, I look at their username, then their rank and then their profile. I notice the griefers usually have a tone of x's in their name (xxxusernamexxx) or 420/69 (username420, username69) or have custom icons that are memes or pepe's. Grifers are usually lower rank (you dont get much xp or cash killing randoms, and so they remain poor and at a low level).

If you have 2/3 of those things, I'll kill you on sight if I am carrying valuables and encounter you. If I'm not returning to a butcher I wont care if they shoot me. But I will keep killing them until they choose parely or leave server. They usually choose both.

If you only encounter 1 or 2 people in an area you can usually piece together who is a griefer and who isn't. Unlike GTA there's not a lot of multiple roads and points of access to areas, so it's quite clear when someone is shadowing you or looking to cut you off.

I've had pelts and noticed a level 5 hovering around the south entrance to blackwater when I was coming in. When I shifted to the West, he moved West. So I moved North and he moved North, then I moved West and he did the same...

Ok kiddo... you're level 5, let me introduce you to my Tier 3 ability cards, bolt action rifle and express ammunition. Kill them, charge into town, sell my wares. They kept trying to fight me, but I kept my distance and didn't die. After death #7 they got bored and rode North.

The real issue is when you load into a town and there's like 5-9 people and sh*t is going down all over the place.

Personally, and I don't expect this to be particularly popular, if we do end up stuck with this one lobby fits all system, I'd like to see something along the lines of low honour players having permanently visible blips while high honour players don't appear on the map unless they're participating in Stranger missions or free roam events.

I agree with @Pocket Foxabove though. Due to players having to decrease honour to progress the story, or simply farming cops for XP, it would be by no means foolproof and could punish friendly players who are temporarily, purposefully, low honour.

Using slippery would be the easiest way to get to the butcher. Problem solved. Until griefers and pelt stealers get their hands on explosives.

I think it'd be a lot more fun if we just got rid of the blips & the minimap, for all players. Never know who's coming around the bend. You'd keep your eyes more on what's around and less on a map.

That sounds like a recipe for making everyone paranoid and shooting first.

The solution is so easy, it's stupid to not do it. PvE, PvP, and Hardcore servers. (And invite versions of each as well)

Which is probably why we won't see them any time soon...

Unless they figure out how to use dynamite, tomahawks, bow and arrows.

I know some good people with a few X's in their names. And Pepe - who could hate Pepe? But you do have to be wary of anyone. Just like in GTA - the low ranks usually don't know better and don't realise they'll make you angry if they mess with your cargo.

What I hate is when someone gets all outraged over you defending yourself. Some guy tried to steal my muskie, then kept following me because I shot him in the face. Didn't stop me getting to the butcher though.

We will soon have the three lobbies you want.

We can avoid a lot of players by logging into specific free roam maps. Log into the map you dont want to be in and fast travel to the area that you do. I like to hunt north of St Denis so I log into Free Roam New Austin and immediately fast travel to St Denis.

Outside of the map you initially log into the rest of RDR2 is empty. You might find the odd player but generally theres no other player around.

If an area does start to accumulate players I log out and repeat the process

I still can't get over the whole "What I do for a living is stressful enough ; I play games to relax" bit.

That's some of the funniest stuff I've ever heard.

Well it’s a valid statement, although for some people mindless mobile games may be a better choice than a game with PvP.

I get the point about having a stressful job and wanting to relax.

I dont accept that R* should take that into account when designing game mechanics though.

Thats just wired to the moon mental along with being arrogant as hell to think that you’re special and should be catered for.

I understand when folk say they would like such and such added.

That’s entirely different though to people saying Rockstar NEED to do something cause they want it.

It’s not all about you or me, they’re making the game for millions of us and can’t possibly keep us all happy.

That's fair. The problem with mindless mobile games is just that, well, they're mindless. I'd rather not put my free time into almost invariably pay to win, shallow, mobile games. The few I've been tempted to try out, such as the Football Manager Mobile games, are so striped down in comparison to the PC versions that I already play, that I lose interest fairly quickly.

It's not as though I actually expect a developer such as R* to cater specifically to me, I'd like them to cater for the PvE leaning player base as a whole. Which R* may do in future in the form of invite/friendly lobby types and/or a Heists equivalent. I gave my own, personal, reason for wanting a PvE environment in which to play RDO. Other players wanting the same option will have their own reasons.

As others have said across the RDO section, I'll be giving RDO until either the first DLC or the beta tag being dropped. If more PvE friendly options aren't added by the time one of those two things happen I'll accept the game as something that isn't for me and I'll move on.

Yeah, that’s why i dislike the lock on. It plays like a mobile game with the LT, flick stick, RT gameplay. Almost like you’re just watching and npt really doing much to play.

I'm an auto aim player and even I find that auto aim just doesn't give any satisfaction.

I'll freely admit that I don't play free aim due to being too slow. Also, as I don't PvP, at least with auto aim and a decent ability card load out, more often than not I get past the butcher campers to sell my pelts.

In free aim, a competent player camping a butchers would take me out with no problems.

Even a good player would miss you most of the time if you ride full speed to the butcher. I think even for people who are below average shots, life will be much easier on a freeaim server as you can make yourself a hard target and even run away. If he’s waiting just for you then it would be easier, but hopefully a hardcore lobby will have no blips except when shooting, so you can sneak in to make sure it’s clear.

That's true. Players, including myself, should almost forget about GTAO free aim. Between the abomination that is free aim assisted and the array of homing rocket equipped vehicles, free aim lobbies in GTAO are a sham.

I'd play RDO in hardcore lobbies, blips off and no split second headshot auto aim would be, in my opinion, a vast improvement over what we currently have.

The people who complain about getting shot in Free Roam are obviously not taking Missions from Sean.

I've done four & the last two were targeting other players...lol.

Yes. But they're warned they've been targeted. Not blindsided.

I've been targeted a few times now. My reaction is always,  "alright, come get me." No one has yet.
