It's sad, but I would rather log into GTAO than RDO

It really seems like it man, the gap to story modes quality is enormous. The online reminds me of a dos game cira ealy 90s, its total ass.

Now you really expose your immaturity.
You have not even seen the "rebalancing" that Rockstar have said they are going to do yet. They already previously stated that more modes and features will be coming. You are now just coming across as an impatient and raging kid, comparing Red Dead Online to a DOS game. It's not perfect but it works, and it has been out for ONE WEEK. And already you are stamping your feet and crying. Just WAIT and see what happens, or go play something else then come back in a month and see what's changed. You're not getting a fully polished online game to such a huge and detailed world in the first week, don't be so damn entitled.

I hate, HATE, what Rock* did to GTA Online and cannot bring myself to play this game any more. It was disgusting greed and an unbalanced mess. They lost a lot of respect from me. But they regained a lot as well with Red Dead 2 story mode. I am prepared to WAIT, longer than one damn week, before I start stomping around and throwing hissy fits and overreacting like a lot of people do on this topic. Especially since they made an actual effort with the feedback website. Did you even visit that feedback website for yourself and post suggestions ? Or did you just come to GTAForums and start mashing your keys?

People just have no damn patience any more. With 5 years experience to draw on, we can safely say that GTA Online has been turned into a massive f** up. But comments like this after ONE WEEK of the game being available just make me cringe. I mean for god's sake, grow up!

This is a fresh and realistic point of view and seems to be in line with OP's RPG preference.  I agree, for Red Dead, I just want my trusted, well-oiled handgun and trusted repeater, and my trusted, fully bonded horse, and I can feel like I'm a citizen of the old west, living in the big beautiful world that Rockstar created, hunting if i want to.

But I would want the option of chosing either PvP lobbies when I want to RPG in the dangerous wild west, versus a peaceful lobby when I want to just experience a stress-free RPG world.

I just want a more immersive world, not the hollowed-out, streamlined one that they've provided in RDO.

Sure, people can make the argument that having less traffic in the town streets makes it easier to move about for races, or that ye Olde West Amazon catalogue streamlines buying goods, or that we don't need player voices because we'll be using our mics all the time- but it's ultimately the little things that count in an open world game and allow you to connect with your character.

Online Mode's world's fine as a PvP stage- less so as an immersive one. RDRII is a slower-burning game- it shouldn't aim for the same fast-paced wheelin'-dealin'-hustlin' feeling that GTAO has.

No I did not. I read your original post, quoted it and replied to it. Perhaps if people have had a habbit of misunderstanding your post it is not the fault of the people, but rather the wording of the post.

Whatever did you mean if not what you wrote and the title implies?

Don't get your hopes up. From their point of view GTAO is perfect because it is the top selling game of all time.

I didn't want to believe it at first, but I was wrong.

Their plan is to copy GTAO 100% because to them it is perfect and makes them tons of cash.

What's my incentive to play RDO?

to be honest I couldn't really understand the post! the thread title made sense to me however.

I don't understand how rdo is a copy of gtao.

honestly I don't see it or feel it at all. also I played a sh*tload of gtao, starting at launch, and I don't understand where you are coming from.

sorry friend.

but if you want more to do, or more incentive to play a rockstar game,  maybe the simple life of the old west without phone calls from Lester or EWO RPG Wiggledemons or flying cars isn't for you.

that's ok with me.

I said it was SAD that i am enjoying GTAO more so than RDO

Therefore I want RDO to be different so that I won't be sad...

Nope, I enjoyed RDR2 far more than GTA5.

Therefore it is sad that I am enjoying the online version of the better game less than I should be.

It's clear as water what I am saying to most people but a handful in this thread who assumed I was saying that GTA was a better game.

I feel by 'more like GTA people so mean more content and options is all. Sessions and activities as is offer little replay aside hunting and fishing for a large part of the players, those that like PvP are better off, but still limited, and with pve and auto aimers hampering a PvP players game too, it's a bit of a mixed mess.

Clearly you feel gta online is better than RDO or you would not prefer it. Lets keep single player out if this - it’s irrelevant. I found the GTA SP to be ok.  So yes, your post does suggest that you find GTA Online to be better than RD Online, or the post would have been pointless.

However, I’m not sure we even disagree on anything considering your replies to me, so Lets not be tryhards in terms of arguing 😂

I want more content in RDO. I want freeaim lobbies, because I find lock on causing so many issues with the gameplay. I do however prefer even this version of RDO to GTAO, which in my mind is a mess of silly BS.

yes we are agreeing!

In it's current state RDO just isn't fun.

A session of RDO right now is more frustration than fun, whereas if I log into GTAO I'll have more fun there in its current state.

BTW the single player experience is NOT irrelevant at all!

I want RDO to be much more like story mode than it currently is.

I want my hair to grow over time... nope, R* wants to sell me haircuts.

I want to tame wild horses and keep them, nope R* wants to sell me horses.

I want fun co-op missions where I can relax with friends - nope R* wants me in a war zone to waste ammo because they want to sell me ammo.

Did they respond to the feed back, or is it the negative press elsewhere that they dislike and are R* using the feedback mention as a smokesscreen instead?

Genuine question, after all the complaints over GTA in 5 years and them not listening, caution is rife, and I feel it's understandable too. Time will tell of course.

I feel they overdid it by locking things behind gold and ranks.Take off the ranks , i'll understand. I feel it's just a pay to win game. to fish you need a rod.You buy it , you need a bow to hunt  to sell carcass, you buy it. they even took off taming horses which may be a skill. Hell i even believe they changed the horses that can spawn in Saint-Denis in sp. All i find now is Morgans and Tennesse walker and kentucky saddlers.

I just hope this is just "the beta" and changes will come

I am fully convinced that they just started development of RDO within the last month or two.

As much as I would like to believe that, it’s difficult. With the amount of money gta online made them, and red dead online being their introduction into online gameplay, I’m leaning more towards this was going to be their cash cow for this gen console. I think online was on their mind during the entire development of the game.

However, I do believe they’ve been developing online through a lot of this time, but only released part of what’s been developed to stress test servers and see the reactions of some of the more “controversial” things, such as the economy. I believe they saw the backlash, plan on adjusting it and slowly releasing more content in installments. This way they can continue releasing content and keeping the game fresh to make it more appealing. If they released all content at once people wouldn’t play as long and their gold bar sales would be non existent.

Theyre a billion dollar company, I doubt they haven’t planned ahead for this.

I don't think so. I think what we have is all they have done so far.

I mean sure 8 years was spent developing the tools needed and the world, but as far as game play, I think they just through it together very similar to how we use the director's mode in GTAO.

Now they want to see our reactions, then they will make changes, then they will start developing more content.

My best guess is that beta will not end for at least 9 months.

At that point we will have a bar-bones online game with nothing to do, but all the systems will be working as designed.

I think after Ill Gotten Gains DLC's were the start of the turning point. When they re-released the game on current hen, the tide turned (After a grace period to bring us over buying again aside).

Crates DLC cemented the recurring spending/nickel and dime approach. Cooldowns everywhere since, and a focus on risk/reward to slow progress too. My thoughts. :)

Man I'm as old as the hills and plenty mature, this game is flawed to the core, it's unfixabale no matter what they do. I'm quite sure I will never log into it again and my friends have already formed the same opinion. Whatever spark of brilliance Rockstar had when they made GTAVO as rough as that was.. is lost..This game is just flat out a badly imagined game.

To be honest, I'm just not sure what people were expecting.

RDR, GTA, Elder Scrolls, FallOut, etc.

They are designed to eat 600 hours of your life.

And we love it! lol! ;)

In RDO, you don't lose anything when you die, and there's no KD ratio, yet people still kill you over and over, so if anything, it's more toxic than GTA.

That's a rather illogical viewpoint. Sure their monetisation scheme may be pretty much the same along with some features that worked well, but I imagine a lot of the future content (i.e owning a ranch, pets, hunting, etc) will be quite different.

GTAO is still making a ton of money, and as far as I'm aware isn't slowing down anytime soon. To have RDO offer the same type of online gameplay would run the risk of people not wanting to play GTA anymore, preventing MTX revenue. Not to mention, Red Dead has always had a far more serious tone compared to GTA. I imagine in a year or so, RDO is going to look significantly different from GTAO with less zany sh*t.

I was expecting to let it eat that 600 hours, and much more too.

Time played: 6 hours (approx). When GTA came, I know I put in probably 10 times that in the early days. 8 co-op missions and being bait for trolls/PvP players just ain't gonna see me load up any more. Such wasted potential right now. (Didn't mean this to come out as fast/frosty, my bad - Nice to see you over this side dude).

Logged in last night and had a decent time. Spent about an hour hunting. A friend logged in, we formed a posse but every time I tried to start a mission the game crashed either on his system or mine. So we just went to my camp and started cooking and stuff. Suddenly I'm lassoed. I'm in my camp, white flag up, my buddy is in the posse and the posse is set to friendly fire off. It was my own friend who was able to lasso me in camp. How does that happen?

i have a back injury and cant do sh*t except lying in front of a screen, not moving alot.

rdo would have been the perfect game at the perfect time and i was looking forward to it. i can easily spend the whole day with a game.

but what am i doing?  not playing it. i played through the singleplayer about 2.5 times all day long and now i suddenly don‘t about it anymore. thats how dull and boring rdo is!

random gamemodes that are just a different type of DM placed in an empty world.

what is this? a big server stresstest?

besides that, why the f**k are we playing rdr2 online in the rdr1 world most of the time???

did you realize that? its effin’ rdr1 with worse shooting mechanics!!

So much for getting that economy balancing update out by the end of the week, eh R*? I haven't played since Monday and I don't plan on it until that update drops and it's confirmed they've adjusted the payouts and pricing to our favor. GTAO was bad enough, I honestly can't stomach another game like that, so I'll save myself the trouble until it's balanced and friendly/solo lobbies are added. Screw going back to GTAO, I'm going back to the OG Los Santos, San Fiero and Las Venturas and I might try to finish Red Dead Revolver again too.
