It's sad, but I would rather log into GTAO than RDO

Things that would draw me back in and make RDO my main online game: 1, a damn poncho. 2, personal canoe for deep lake fishing, I caught a beast out there in SP. 3, Most important and best for last, economy adjustment, raise payouts and lower prices on certain things. Horse reviver shouldn't cost 10 dollars! Also allow us to pay cash for items that are gold only, if that isn't the most shyster bullsh*t I've seen in a R* game yet... want this article of clothing? Well you better grind your ass off or dish out some real life cash. Utter B.S....

Other than adding more modes, activities for FR, and more guns the above listed it what it will take to keep me onboard. It's superficial I know, but I bought 3 shark cards for GTAO, one as appreciation for adding the Hunter and Nokota, once for adding an obscure motorcycle that I own IRL, and one for adding the I/E tuners. Point is, lots of average non whale MTX buyers often purchase as a thank you of sorts for listening to specific feedback. They were pretty good about adding content I wanted but not about fixing the game itself with GTAO. If they don't lower prices and raise payouts, my time with RDO will be very short as there is little I want in the way of specific content.

I already stopped playing RDO. There's just nothing left to do in the game. Couple that with the terrible economy and grindy nature. I left to play GTAO and that was boring too so I'm not playing either at the moment.

Yeah the point will be missed on those that don't know about retro arch or arcade games in general :). But basically you can soft mod a nintendo wii easily (instructions on youtube) install retroarch, get a CRT TV with component inputs and you will have arcade games, neo geo too and all the consoles in pure unholy 240 progressive beauty, honestly there's probably 50 vertical shooters from the arcade alone that are better games than red dead online.. I will tell you now, I'm 47 years old and have been gaming since 1976.. and putting retroarch on a WIi and getting a good CRT was hands down the best thing I've ever done in my gaming life (I only did this recently). People move mountains to get 240p emulation out of a PC, it seems not well known at all that you can achieve it so easily and cheaply from a modded Wii.

Ahh, sounds interesting, but to me I never got into computers and such so much of that honestly went over my head, lol. Not to mock it/you or anything, just I'm a bit simple when it comes to the technical side to it all. (Literally only a month ago learned how to upload pictures, lol).

But that said, I've IRL friends that like you, have been tinkering for years and really do just enjoy so many aspects to gaming/computing in so many ways too and know how fun and rewarding it all can be of course. Genuinely been considering some after hours education to learn more really as even to own a laptop or phone it's all getting a bit overwhelming to keep up. Always was a bit jealous of those buddies as they really are in their element.

Interesting read though elfoam, I'll keep this in mind too. :)

Totally with this too, add session types (free aim/PvE) and this is spot on.

I did pop at Smokewood for contributing, but if you're getting you're value, I certainly can't knock it. Especially if like me and these games are the primary games we play as a few bucks extra here is no different to a few bucks on a fresh game. Either way, so long as it's fun for us, it's all good.

Locking content to gold only is weak and just pure me off even considering it all. Means less content all round and that's a real drag.

Why ask if you're gonna just dismiss opinions, lol.

GTA is old hat but comfort playing. You're at the top of that mountain with little to achieve there, lol. But complaining of being in the same spot here. Seems weird, but clearly it's the western theme/pace that's put you off I feel.

Otherwise, this game right now is a tryhards haven. Without PvE sessions, You've got easy targets just like GTA, lol. There really isn't any difference aside you can't fly across the map in 20 seconds to pummel a noob.

why would I want easy targets? There aren't many easy targets in GTA either, everyone has everything.

You clearly are not getting it.

I want RDO to be an RPG, not a FPS like GTAO is.

So therefore, if RDO is to stay with the FPS feel, why bother?

It's more of a retrorectal question anyway....

Personally every time I've logged into GTAO I am almost immediately reminded why I prefer RDO while yes GTAO may have more content in my opinion its still a sh*t show. I take no shame in admitting RDO is a buggy hollow , unbalanced mess of a game.  But for all its faults (Of which there are many) In my experience I can actually make some decent money by myself (Yea its tedious but definitely not anymore so then GTA) could never really do that in GTA . I much more rarely find myself getting shot for no reason when I'm just trying to mess about in the world. And when I do find myself in that situation. Not being able to afford good sh*t at least for the moment isn't an out and out death sentence like it is in GTA. RDO does at the very least have, in my opinion, way more starting potential the GTAO ever did though ultimately we shall see if that potential is squandered.

Lol @ no many easy targets!

You talk of weaponised crap, and then say that. Man o Man, I've read some crap, but that's gold!

RDRO offers much to be a role playing game, GTA too. You choose what to do, so play how you want. That's the beauty of an open world game. It's on us to make it fun.

You just sound comfy over there, so enjoy it dude. I love GTA for what I get our of it, here too, though I agree its limited because lobby choice and less content. (Content being understandably limited to an extent).

Any game, especially multiplayer games have some sort of progression. When said game ties progression to micro-transactions and greatly limits your ability to progress normally through gameplay, that is wrong. It defeats the whole point of even playing if you cannot progress at a decent pace by playing the game. We buy games to play them, not buy them and then pay additional money for the game to play itself. Its like buying a coloring book and paying someone to color it in for you, thats stupid. You know thats what we mean so quit being disingenuous. You know something is up when the game gives you a measly $1.15 for a gold wedding ring, which cannot even cover the cost for a single can of beans. You know something is wrong when it costs a fortune just to change the color of your starting revolver to all black.

thank you

Yea economy and Customization options are pretty f*cking wack at the moment ,gold bar system is f*cked beyond belief. Especially pissed that my 2 favorite horses in the game are stuck behind the pay/ultragrind wall. I don't think though that the economy is that f*cked so much as the levels and tiers of unlocks , will agree there is definitely some stuff is wildly overpriced clothing, tonics and food chief among them but the fact that I can unlock the bolt action far before I can unlock the cheaper alternatives makes no sense f*ck gotta wait till lvl 20 to even get binoculars or 14 till a fishing rod both should have been available toward the beginning. I will say I will stick with RDO for now but if they don't clean up there sh*t by the new year , I probably won't be playing RDR for much longer. Only thing thats really keeping me here is not having things to play atm

That's not helpful at all. None of those things will let anyone play Red Dead, or indeed GTA. Plus you talk as if RDOnline is a finished product. It's been out for a week and is in Beta. Most likely they have released it barebones to stress test the servers.

They released it bare-bones  because it's 3 years away from being finished this is no where near ready for beta or public use/sale. It's downright nasty

Stop with the beta excuse. They’ve had 8 years and 2 previous online games to learn from. They’ve made the same mistakes as gtao when it launched

I don’t get why folk who don’t like the game come on here to tell us?

I mean, are you hoping for people to convince you that it’s a really good game and that you should enjoy it?

Or are you wanting others to nod in agreement that it’s crap?

Either way, what’s the point? Would it not be better to play games you enjoy and discuss them with other like minded gamers on their forum?

Not having a go at anyone, just genuinely curious as to why you bother.

ther revolver in gta:o gives me better wild west vibes than this akward shooting mechanic fail they implemented in rdo.

rdo will fail hard because nobody who likes to be a cowboy likes to be a fully equipped cowboy with 20+  horses and all weapons. i already have what i want and since its only a mauser pistol that i might need, i save up for it. there is no other goal in this game.  this and the 5 gold for insurance. from there on, thats it!  give me a battleroyale mode with 32 player that i can choose to play all time if i want!

This is a fresh and realistic point of view and seems to be in line with OP's RPG preference.  I agree, for Red Dead, I just want my trusted, well-oiled handgun and trusted repeater, and my trusted, fully bonded horse, and I can feel like I'm a citizen of the old west, living in the big beautiful world that Rockstar created, hunting if i want to.

But I would want the option of chosing either PvP lobbies when I want to RPG in the dangerous wild west, versus a peaceful lobby when I want to just experience a stress-free RPG world.

My intentions are clear, I feel.

I want PvE respected, not an after thought or punished/restricted. And to help my cause, being vocal in search of like minded support won't come from sitting silent.

Sorry if the bitching pisses some off. But I want my game of it with my friends that are literally running from this fiasco.

The only way I can hope to get that, as the potential is there, is to ask/share is all.

Yes, this is another point that I haven't fully discussed yet.

I cannot remember a western movie (a good one anyway) where the star of the show had more than 1 horse.

What items do I want? Easy..

2 really good revolvers, 1 really good repeater, 1 really good shotgun, a lasso, a fishing rod, a set of binoculars, and 1 horse.

I would also like to have a few outfits to change my look from time to time...

That's it!

If they expect me to "want" to buy several horses or several weapons, they have already made a miscalculation.

Eastern Outlaw

I've flushed Red Dead Online as of Monday. A game that I believed I would probably end up playing for years...and hopefully I will if they make the right choices down the line. Right now, though, I don't think I can be bothered with something that feels incomplete even in its beta stage. I believe that it has more potential than pretty much any other game on the market right now but Take-Two would rather paste a mobile game's economy onto it instead of building one that can still reward players who don't give a sh*t about their gold. If I could just ignore that, I would. In fact, I've tried. The problem is that there's almost zero fun to be had once you play through its hit or miss storyline, and all of the cool things that I wanted to see or use are either level locked or...costs gold. It just feels like a scheme rather than a project made to impress.

And I'm closing in on 100% in the single player. I'd rather focus the good side of this game. I'm definitely looking forward to the patches though, I'm not counting this game out just yet. I just can't bring myself to play it in its current state. f*ck that

A friend said yesterday that playing Red Dead with friends is more fun than GTAO, that it’s more organic. I agree in a way, the world feels more alive. But there is still so little for us to do in terms of game modes, and they have to expand on that and make it more worthwhile. I got on GTAO earlier to buy some discounted cars, and it felt nice to drive around for a bit (I’ve always liked driving games), but apart from that the only thing that really interests me is PvP nowadays.

Another thing; there is a huge amount of jobs in GTAO, all the heists and missions together have great replay value. But it’s a shame that the gunplay is so poor.

Now, if Red Dead Online would get more activities (think business battles), gambling, interiors opened up, and more PvE missions, that, combined with its great gunplay, would make it so much more interesting (and jobs should pay in the range of $10-$50 depending on length and difficulty).

A gold ring should be worth at least ten times as much as a can of beans. At least.

I like Red Dead Online so far, but I’m kind of getting tired of fishing already. And hunting, well, I only really care to hunt for small game - too many times have my game crashed/I’ve been disconnected/someone’s killed me, which has resulted in losing a good number of fine pelts...

Edit/addition: In all honesty, I really want to enjoy this game, and I do most of the time, but I had thought it would be more packed with missions/activities/business-battle-type jobs - in short, that R* would have taken what they’ve added to (and learned from) GTAO and put it here from the start. It feels kind of barren in that regard.

Then everything is at it should be. I hope the people who prefer a game like GTA, stay there as it would mean RDO is different. I don’t like GTA much, so I’d rather play this even though it’s still rough and missing content.
