BO-DACIOUS
I've tried lassoing animals numerous times. 90% of the time the target is red and I throw it and it somehow misses the animal. I know I was on target for a fact. It still misses the animal. The other 10% I hit the animal and get off my horse and I walk towards it and my character just let's it go. Frees the prick for whatever stupid reason. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? It's impossible for me to lasso animals in this game. I was trying to lasso a deer. Should be simple but NOOO not for me of course not. What is going on with this game? Bo
Rithrius
Just save up for a varmint rifle and start shooting birds and critters until you can afford the bow. Trying to lasso + knife animals just isn't worth your time or effort. DentureDynamite
DentureDynamite
^^ Even the pig and sheep pens nearby in Valentine aren't easy to pull off with the "lasso and knife" method if you're going for both the pelts -and- the carcass. Problems include (besides getting negative honor and running the risk of being seen by an eyewitness): * You can't simply hop over the fence while carrying a pelt. * If you whistle for your horse while in the pen, your horse may stand right in the middle of the gate, blocking your exit. * If you exit through the gate too quickly, it tends to get stuck in the open position, and both the pigs and sheep will try to escape and run off. lol Edited December 4, 2018 by DentureDynamite
IKilledMyHorseAgain
With being at work i cant say for sure how it works but i know what you are talking about, i think its the "O" button on PS4 to keep ahold of whatever you lasso although it may be "square" but one of them will keep the lasso intact until you can walk up on whatever it is you have lassoed. If you release it, off goes the scoundrel!! So test it out, lasso someone and keep "O"(im pretty sure its this one) held down once you got them lassoed, that should allow you to walk up and knife or hogtie them. Hold it while you get off your horse and walk up, still holding L2, until you get close enough to hit the kill button. Fugitive21
The only issue I have with lasso and animals is ....Why does my dam horse run a half a mile away when I lasso an animal while on it. It's annoying to lasso one jump off the horse for the animal to break free. Now I have to chase my horse down to get back on it to track or find that animal that is going 100 MPH across an open field. I can lasso a person my horse stays right next me. IKilledMyHorseAgain
Thanks, Now that you said it that even feels right in my reenactment at my desk!! i knew it was something and glad you chimed in so the OP isnt at home spamming "O" cussing me out!! BO-DACIOUS
Yeah, I held L2 the entire time from when I threw the lasso to when the animal escaped. Is this a bug or something? I've lassoed people just fine. But not animals Why? Bo

White Shark
I actually don't have any trouble lassoing animals? Makes an easy stab kill for a guaranteed perfect pelt. psymin, Bakkerbaard, TableTennisChamp and 1 other

I've lassoed deer at a normal SP range, I dismount (automatic) but the deer breaks from the lasso and runs off. Very annoying. Just lasso at a much closer range and pray to the lag gods. specterkev
tip for lassoing,.. get up really close before throwing.. if you lasso to far away they have a better chance of escaping.
Da Elite Ninjah
You probably need to get closer before lassoing. I hold the left trigger while walking towards the animal. Whistle for your horse while doing this, so it won't run off. On 12/4/2018 at 10:06 PM, Rithrius said: Animals simply break free if you're not fast enough. BO-DACIOUS
Yeah, there's no way to get close enough to lasso and have them not break free. Most medium sized animals always run and stay just far enough ahead of me that I'm lucky to have the recticle go red. Even when I sprint with the horse they still stay too far ahead of me. And then when I do throw the rope they Dodge it right before it hits them... Almost every time lol... I dunno maybe it's just me somehow. Bakkerbaard
The further you are away from your prey, the longer it takes to reel them in, the more stamina you expend. Only once you're out of stamina the animal breaks free, or rather, you'll let it go. You'll have to find a goldilocks zone for lassoing. Too far away and you'll have a hard time catching something and it'll probably break free, too close and your horse will trample the feck out of it ruining the pelt. I've had a lot of succes lasso-stabbing deer, my buddy on the other hand experiences the problem you describe more. I've had it happen once now and I couldn't tell you what I did different. These days I mainly shoot birds. They're easy kills and you can stuff the most valuable bits in your pocket. DrKrankenstein
