Not that I intend to buy any, mind you. But I'm curious as to how R* intends to structure their fiscal assault on their faithful player base? I'm thinking A buck a bar, max. The Silver Turkoman costs a whopping 27 gold bars. Even at $2 a bar, that lone horse would cost nearly as much as the game did... Plus another $10 to insure it. That'd be absolutely INSANE. We'd be paying $20 and $30 for single clothing items. Per item. Per color. There's simply no way. Not even R* has those kind of balls.

They won't sell gold bar but will sell gold nuggets

They’ll try something like $2 a bar and get the money from those willing to pay it. Then when they aren’t selling many of them, they’ll lower it to $1 a bar and people will eat it up thinking they’re getting a hell of a deal.

I think they'll sell Gold Nuggets and Gold Bars.

I reckon they'll only sell full bars and keep nuggets as a way to trickle out premium currency without devaluing it for themselves.

$100 should get 1000 bars.  Or they could go the shark route and basically incentivise cheating/grinding the game.  I think they will be 50 cents a piece.  Which means the best horse would be $20. Which is a ripoff.

Should be (bars):

1000 for $100

450 for $50

150 for $20

50 for $10

Will be (considering the obvious greed at play already):

50 nuggets for $10

1 gold bar for $50

10 bars for $100

Free if you find treasure maps, may not equal a gold bar, but it gets you close to a full one.

True. But considering a yacht in GTAO is the equivalent of $100+, we shouldn't be surprised.

In my mind the question a microtransaction developer of a game like this should be asking, what is the line where it becomes less effort to cheat/grind the system as opposed to just paying?

I think the question in gtao was, what exactly are we able to get away with?

Lets assume, you get a $100 shark card on discount and got 16mil, you could play the game but you would be unable to sustain more than 2 updates, 6 months maybe, and fully enjoy the game unless you ground or cheated.  If you only got 8 mil, that barely covered 1 update which was really only getting kids/addicts.  I think a $100 dollar purchase should get a years worth of content in an online video game, but thats because I think its a reasonable entertainment budget for 1 person.

2 = $1.99

11=$9.99

24=$19.99

60=$49.99

120=$99.99

seems reasonable.

1000 gold bars for $100 is too generous for Take Two lol.

Reasonable?! So fast travel alone costs $100?! GTFO

Not that it would surprise me. But those prices are highway robbery.

Fast travel costs 112 bars cause it isn't unlocked yet I think, not 100% sure on that though. It's a meaningless upgrade anyway without spawning at camp being an option.

well i should say realistic. Im not even touching gold bars so i cant really be the one to say if its a fair price or not. Shouldnt be in the game at all.

i wonder if pressing start > online> and selecting the region you want to spawn in is efficient enough to not even buy fast travel lol.

I can agree with realistic only because greed knows no bounds.

As to not being in the game, I accept that they would try to monetize online. And if it gives us free dlc, it's an acceptable tradeoff. But only if it's in reason and completely voluntary.  IOWs, you don't NEED to buy anything unless you really want to shortcut. It's easily obtained in a reasonable time frame of playing. Right now, that doesn't appear to be the case. Also, the price should be low(ish). I don't agree with extortion prices.

The reason they're using gold bars rather than just buying in game cash is, I believe, so they can keep gambling in online once implemented.

My daughters often don't know what to buy dear old dad for Christmas, birthdays, or father's day. But they know I like playing games, so often I get Playstation Store gift cards. (Yeah, I'm aging myself. Daughters are all grown and moved out on their own). I bought GTA and an initial shark card way back when that way. I bought the UE of RDR2 that way. And I still have a few cards from over the years left. I COULD use a couple for RDO (and further support the game), but I won't unless the value is there and the game isn't obvious PTW.

There are articles of clothing and recipe pamphlets that cost 50+ bars, so anything more the 10 gold bars/IRL dollar would be an absolute ripoff. If they charge too much not as many players will be willing to even consider it. Whales aren't enough to sustain the expectations that R* and T2 have, so they better get it right if they want to milk it the way they have with GTAO..

They can make them $1000 per bar for all I care, I'll be jumping on the first gold bar glitch I find.

Here's hoping for some hackers to distribute billions to people's accounts like they did for GTA Online. Anything that devalues these egregious "micro" transactions is a good thing in my books.

This is the real test, to see R* and Take Two's TRUE intent with RDRO.

Slow progression for a 'sense of accomplishment'? or so us under monetised souls pay out the ass for premium currency.

They'll be overpriced I'm sure. Though I'll make sure I get by without buying any, most likely.

As someone who is already taking the time to grind money and levels, I don't know or care. I won't be buying a single one and anyone under level 10 with fancy outfits and pretty guns is gonna catch a .22 to the noodle.

My boy, have you ever heard of a little game called "GTA Online?"  Its balls are worth $3 billion, and still rising.

if i think and calculate right.. its all very oddly priced.. so 1 gold bar should be around 450 to 500 in game dollars (thats  if u compare gun prices to their equivalent gold bar price) .

if it would be around $100.- real money  to buy 1000 gold bars this would get you like 450.000 to half a million in game dollars..

This will certainly never happen! with the most expensive guns at around $1000..  this is just way off... no way they give you half a million in this game ever for $100.-

What are you on about? A more accurate conversion is $20-25 per gold bar.
