Beta reset

to me it looks like this beta is an open beta and not a close beta, everything in open beta tend to not get wipe like close beta since its open to the mass its pretty much a so call full release with a few exceptions but R* beta could be different from other i dont know cause this is my first R* beta I ever played.

Thing is, this is not your typical Beta. This is a working Beta, meaning that their overall concept for online has been done. We're just in a bug testing, fine tuning stage. But those thinking the whole game will be reset or wiped and started over and we'll be given something completely different and new are mistaken.

 

Yes, it's very possible we could have stats or even cash reset, but not the entire way the game works.

Maybe you have a point - but I still stand by my opinion that the game isn’t that hard and getting all you want is not a huge achievement. It’s not that relevant to this debate though, how hard I think the game is, and it’s my mistake for commenting on that.

 

The most important point for me is that the game comes first and my progress second. I’d hate to lose my progress, because like everyone else, I’ve played a lot to achieve it. I’d give it up any second though if it meant a major change in a good direction for the game.

I get ya dude. This game could offer the hard gaming you seek and the casual for others too. More and more it's our playground so for R* to be listening is great and I hope we both, all, get our RDRO.

It's not about difficulty, it's about wasting hours of our time and expecting us to redo many tedious things at the beginning of RDO a second time. If you think that won't make many players give up on the game altogether you're just being obtuse. Plenty of us want to like the game, but don't like it enough yet to eat a loss of a hundred+  hours of progress..

Precisely. If this game deliver on the potential it has, I’ll be playing it for years. Played RDR1 for years and this have much greater potential for being my number one game for years.

I wasn't keen. But seeing the cheats in another thread already surpassing rank 75, I've made peace that if R* do give more choice, I can accept my minimal lost time as I'm just paused until I know where it's all going now.

 

I fully see that some will be furious though.

Well that’s your choice if they make the game awesome and you’ll stop playing because you lose your progress. I think most players are more concerned with the long term and so is R* because of profit. Your threaths are like most gamer threaths - without any effect.

Yeah. But it's all on R* and it was forewarned. They're clearly testing the game and if the cheating is rampant, could see mixed feelings soon. I hope they find a better way, but ain't betting on it.

 

I don't know how widespread the cheating is. But a 5 second Google shows it's all over the place and R* would have to be very blind not to catch on, lol.

 

It's a real mixed bag. Both ways get heat. A wipe, or a free pass to cheat.

I just contacted Rockstar support about the reset.

 

They said Progress/Awards will be kept and carry over the final release.

 

As they said if something happened with large glitch or bugs that give higher xp or cash then it will reset the rank and cash/goldbars

Cheats are running wild. If they give them another free pass on this, it'll be further proof the game will remain warped and really just a bad game.

 

PC, if it ever gets it, no chance of avoiding mod menu's. Shame for them they'll get a broken game, at best.

Two very wild and speculative statements tbh. The only "cheats" are afker's and Rockstar can/could deal with them if they want, I'd wait for their comment on that matter. It's not like people won't find exploits after a potential wipe, all you'd be doing wiping now is f*cking over the honest players who are in the vast majority.

 

Not sure how the PC and potential mod menus ties into the whole thing either. We don't really know what changes they made to stop anti-cheats so it's pointless to try and guess what's going to happen with RDO PC.

I get that. But the site is full of speculation too. I'm just fed up with seeing cheating and grief reign is all.

Well a wipe isn't gonna fix it mate. If anything it'd do the opposite, as people would try and get to their pre-wipe status by any means necessary.

 

Not that RDO has any sort of rampant cheating, griefing sure, that's cause no PvE lobbies, but cheating not really. AFKer's are the worst of it.

There are no plans to reset, is not the same as we will not reset.

Fair enough. Again, I agree its exploitscand such as opposed to cheating. And of course, being forced to play with them (or quit) is just tedious. So I ranted. My bad. But I do want more done than the bullsh*t GTA is/was plagued with.

well in my oppinion: considering people are spamming youtube on how to glitch every clothing item for free, we will get a full wipe. and that will end RD2O in one go.

Hopefully R* has something in place to only reset the cheaters. Would really suck to have all my progress reset because they couldn't keep exploits out of the game or properly punish/reset players who use them. A complete reset would just be lazy

lazy or cost efficient. what people fail to realize is you rent their game. it's not yours, you did not make it. so for all the exploiters out there, when the reset comes, this one's all on you boahs.

At this point I think the chances of a full reset, or any global reset at all, are very, very slim.  I mean, they've already had people spend real life money on gold; they've rolled out three minor updates; they've given two lots of free gifts.
