Error Code 0x20010006

Has anyone found a way to play without getting this code?

 

I have pretty slow internet 1.5 mbps and I get this code within two minutes of joining every lobby. No time to hunt or do any missions, which is very frustrating. Just seeing if anyone has a way around this. I had no problem connecting to GTA Online if I was in a solo or invite only lobby, but I think my internet just cant connect with the 20-25 people in every lobby that I join.

Same issue here. Even in GTAO I was starting to get disconnected every 5 minutes, probably year ago and finally I gave up. 

 

I am not sure it is my connection.  Reason is because I play multiple other online games without issues but Rockstar games don't work for me anymore. My Internet is good enough for streaming Netflix and playing other online games with no lag but for whatever reason it doesn't work with RDR2. 

 

With both games, I can spend hours playing missions , everything is fine. I only get kicked out of lobby, 2 or 32 pkayers, doesn't matter. 

 

Any suggestions?

Don't worry, it's a problem many are having including me.

To Rockstar? You'll most likely get a standard automated message 2 days from now that doesn't even help.

I tried everything. I reset the cache, reset my router, closed the game, checked my NAT... everything short of contacting my ISP. 

 

On my ticket, Rockstar suggested that I use another for of internet (mobile hotspot or other option) or contact my ISP to see if xbox live is supported, but I can play other games online so I assume that isn't the problem.  

 

I guess R* assumes that we have alternate options for internet, but I do not have any other options.

That's weird, I have a good connection and never had any issues with GTAO which made me think it's something RDO related, also I've seen tons of people complaining about the same error on reddit. Guess we willl have to wait and see if they do something about it...

It is interesting that error message says that I have been disconnected due to fault on Rockstar game services.

I get the same error code 0x20010006  and did a speed test... download 35.73 and upload 4.42 with ping of 9. No way in hell is it my Internet connect. It's the Rockstar server issue.  IT can't handle it.  I played Destiny 2 multiplayer with no issues whatsoever.

I think it's just the servers being overloaded with everyone trying to play Online throughout the day. Whenever R* sends a patch out the servers will get better stability.

I try every afternoon. Get on, shoot one alligator, a couple birds, and disconnect before I can store them on my horse. Try again. Same thing.

Advice about stranger mission did work for me but I only have couple more. After finishing mission other players did show up but what put je in solo lobby was activating treasure map. After that, for the firs time since launch,  I was able to play for hours without getting ds. At the end I had to quit since Amazon has The Getaway with Steve McQueen available,  and that us worth more than any game lol

I managed to play a couple of hours last night and did one stranger mission before it kicked me off with error code.

Hereis the strange thing. I switch my connection from cable  (NAT 2) to wi fi which shows as NAT 3 and I was kicked once but after that I played for 3 hours with no issues.  Coincidence or not, you be the judge.

It seems it was a coincidence only unfortunately.  I was trying to log in this morning for full hour without success.  I am not sure what is going on and if Rockstar can fix this but so far my experience is ruined even more by terrible connection issues.

Worth resurrecting this thread for a small update on my part.

I have been plagued with this error since day 1 of RDO. I could only play for a maximum of 30-45 minutes before receiving this error and being kicked, either in free roam or story mission.

 

Just over a week ago, my area finally received Wired Fibre Broadband. Here's an example of my speed now, with much better download and upload speeds. (used to be 10mbps download and 3mbps upload)

 

Since upgrading to this, I have only received the error maybe a couple of times. I can play for hours without problems 90% of the time.

I have to conclude that it was possibly down to my internet connection, however, other games always worked fine with no problems, just GTA and RDO with the constant disconnections.

 

I would say the number 1 rule even if you do not have fibre broadband yet is use a wired connection - plug an ethernet cable from your Xbox to router so that you are not using WiFi for gaming, if at all possible. Some ISP's provide "wireless" fibre broadband, where they will install an aerial and receiver to your roof. This is not as good as a real wired fibre connection due to interruptions from neighbours, weather etc.

 

I have not tried my new connection with GTAO yet, as I cannot bring myself to step foot on that game yet and have 1000 pop up adverts telling me to buy something.

I have 100mgb fiber optic with a ping of 9 and all ports open inc firewall off on router that basically is neigh perfect connection, I do get this disconnection at odd times maybe 3 or 4 times since i started online.

 

Its a rockstar server issue and can be improved by opening all ports and regularly cleaning your cache it wont go away completely because we all dont have the same connections but it should reduce if you follow what ive done

You with Virgin ? try opening all ports and switch of firewall Virgin fibre is the most powerful and stable in UK

No, the city I live in can not get Virgin, or any other ISP you can think of.

KCOM is the only option if you live in this city, they have a mononpoly over this area with phone lines and internet. They won't let, for example, BT or Virgin in, because they would have to install lines all over the city, KCOM will not share their infrastructure with anyone else.
The only other option in this city is an aerial on your roof for £200, which is from wireless providers. I don't believe in wireless internet, especially not for gaming.

 

Like I said in the post, since upgrading to KCOM, I have only had the disconnection error maybe once or twice in many hours of playing. This is a massive improvement, and no I have not opened any ports. But they need to address the issue, because their servers have been by far the most troublesome of any game I have ever played. And lots of people still don't have a fibre connection I assume, and clearly still affected by the error code.

Same as Virgin then, They wont let any other ISP use their lines either
