Jacob66216
I don’t think this is a topic yet, but what is your favorite showdown mode? I say most wanted because it’s the only one I can win lol
TheOriginalGunslinger
“Bag” modes aren’t in yet so I say none. tonko
Emmi
The ones available at the moment are all kinda meh, not very fun and the maps are too big. tonko and JuliuszMCMXCVII
Lonely-Martin
IIRC one is with a bow and we have to hit targets. Quite enjoyed that though died a lot.
Danish Pirate
My favourite is 'Name your weapon' where the objective is to kill the enemy with tricky weapons for more points. It seems however only few people understand this as I encounter many who use their guns. eyman, Callahan44 and Shadowfennekin

I played a bag mode,i think it was a freeroam event. 1 bag,30 players in a tiny area, guy with most bagtime wins. It was just sooo bad. Everyone shot everyone, one lucky guy won at the end. Name your weapon seems to be the best so far.

Those three classic competitive game modes are not in Red Dead Online sadly. CrimsonFolo
They're ruined by allowing players to bring their own weapons in. Sad to see grab the bag doesn't return. The best out of the bunch is the capture the flag one imo. tonko and TheOriginalGunslinger
JuliuszMCMXCVII
Most Wanted is cool however the maps are waaay too big. Especially Tall Trees where you are either lucky and spawn near the eniemies or you just keep running around until you are out of stamina. I've lost numerous times just because I could not find any enemy to kill.

lndex
I feel the same way about St Denis On “name your weapon” i spawned last minute across the play area where nobody was...so the person below took the lead Edited December 2, 2018 by DEADWOODZ

When I played this, it started off cool for the first few seconds, until someone discovered you can use your guns and kill other players. From that point, it just turned into a free roam like killing session. The guy who won was the one lucky enough to hit a couple of targets before it went downhill. tonko
Had fun with team vs team in Tumbleweed and that's it. Like guys above said, maps are too big and the whole "showdown" concept fails cause there's rarely any showdown. Also, bringing your own weapons ruins the experience. If they implement deafult weapons specific to a certain map for everyone like in RDR 1, that would be a huge upgrade. If they add Hold Your Own and Grab The Bag then you pretty much have my answer to favorite showdown mode. 4 hours ago, Callahan44 said: I played a bag mode,i think it was a freeroam event. 1 bag,30 players in a tiny area, guy with most bagtime wins. It should be assigned to select weapon sets (Bolt Action Rifle and a certain revolver) for example with other weapon combinations selected for other matches in different areas these game modes can be played in. Bringing all of your weapons into the fight is fun and all but going toe to toe with everyone assigned to the same two weapons (wish other weapons were placed in crates throughout the game mode map/area) like how it was in Red Dead Redemption multiplayer for Shootouts/Gang Shootouts was as well. It should be... every player starts with the same set of weapons, which varies by location with each location having additional weapons available in chests scattered around the map as well as ammo. Red Dead Redemption multiplayer’s version of Shootout/Gang Shootout is better imo but of course this being a Beta for Red Dead Online this could change. Slonitram
Name Your Weapon. Encourages a lot of weapon switching and different tactics to approach each situation and is constantly tense. However, it's rather meh, as is the other modes. I also liked my first rounds of Make It Count, but after getting dropped in an on-going session every damn time I quick join Showdown, I ended up loathing it. Gallows
Mostly play races, because it has freeaim. The lock on aiming makes the other modes so repetitive.

Deathmatches are separated mode from Free Roam and no player should have advantage by having more powerful weapons due to their level/money. durkahdurkah
the whole showdown series idea seems like a flawed concept right now. Firstly, there are no showdowns like in RDR1. And my biggest complaint is that it seems rather pointless to have various game modes that are designed for PVP, only to have the game do most of the work for you, I.e. Aiming. i understand some prefer auto locking when it comes to console 3rd person games.. but for me it feels like playing FIFA and every shot you take is almost guaranteed to be a goal. It sucks the fun, challenging, and tense aspect of it all. Maps are too big. No point playing it for the payouts, it's not worth the time. And the matchmaking aspect of it is flawed.. there are couple of games types I can deal with, but having to go through many I don't like to get to them is painful. The BR mode is half arsed, boring, flawed (the minimap shouldn't be there for a start), and ultimately a representation of how much thought has gone into all of these other modes. for example, how can rockstar spend ample time fleshing out the hand combat in the game. And not have a fight club style showdown mode? Hand combat is pointless in online.. it always would be if you don't dedicate a mode to it, and that's what they should have done. Im reserving any and all judgements until a patch though. My biggest complaints will likely be resolved (free aim), and a content creator will probably pop up down the road to solve the other issues... I'll be making a warriors style mode in valentine, fist fights, two teams of 4 or 8, knocking the sh*t out of each other.
