guardian1816
I am curious what other peoples thoughts are here. My own opinion is that Rockstar knows that GTA 5 is going to die out sooner or later so they took a highly anticipated game like Red Dead and are turning it into their new "cash cow". Before I go further with this I want to say that they did the single player very very well and I consider it one of the best games ive ever played, but then you get to multiplayer and I pray that they are going to be making some SERIOUS changes when it goes out of BETA. I started off enjoying the online a good bit, but only a few days later the game is feeling grindy....a lot more grindy than is much fun. After 40 or 50 hours of play I learned one of the better ways to get money, but even that is a royal pain. The amount of money they are charging for items has really showed Rockstar's hand in how they are going to approach this. Microtransactions.....sure you can farm 15 minutes side quests to get .01 gold and eventually build that up over several weeks so you can afford horse insurance (You'll never make enough to get anything good), but the good things will only be owned by people that pay even more money to get them. The realism has been replaced by greed. A basic bow and arrow in this game costs $124. That is over 3,000 today. I revolver costs $296 and thats nearing $10,000. I hope they fix it or announce plans to fix it before it leaves BETA because this is greed, plain and simple. I got entranced by this on GTA 5 and I probably have more than $1,000 invested into that game....I wont be doing that again. Please Rockstar, prove me wrong
Callahan44
Getting 2,50 for finishing 2nd in a 14 player race or 3,50 for a storymission has to be a joke just like most of the goldprices. Fast travel costs over 100 gold, theres even more expensive stuff. If it really stays like this i hope and also think its gonna be a huge failure. But im pretty sure it will change. But a bigger problem is the lack of stuff you can buy. Theres also nothing really exciting like a hot air baloon or really unique camp upgrades like music instrments atm. So far this game seems to be a western GTA 5. GTA started off ok, but it wasnt long that if you wanted the new things they released you were almost forced to buy shark cards. To grind that amount of money would take so long it wasnt practical.

Its still a different level. In rdr you have to play 2 storymissions to afford the cheapest piece of clothing. Without buying gold i could probably never unlock fast travel. Maybe im too optimistic...if it stays like this theres no chance i keep playing it.

I had such high hopes for the multiplayer aspect of this and telling myself...its still in BETA only works for so long. Especially when the company remains silent and doesn't seem to respond at all to their entire customer base complaining about one aspect of the game. Microtransactions. We're you expecting anything else? Let me first say that I feel the in-game prices are steep compared to in-game earnings, but I feel this way of making real world money is ideal. When this whole free-to-play thing became a mainstream I made sure no one was looking and I cried a little. If this was the future of gaming, I'd have to get a real life. But what Rockstar did with GTA was pretty good for me, thanks to people like you, I might add and this is in no way meant sarcastically. GTAO and RDO are basically free to play games, but because there are a lot of people shelling out serious real cash I can continue to not pay and get my stuff for free. In the case of GTA I paid about 70 bucks for a game that lasted me five years. That's good value if you ask me. It's troublesome that at this point it seems the accountants have more say in it though and I do hope, right along with you, that this is gonna be adressed. 14 minutes ago, Callahan44 said: But a bigger problem is the lack of stuff you can buy. It does feel like a bit of a lacking choice of items, but I think that's just gonna be a matter of time. I don't remember jumping into GTAO for the first time and thinking: "There should be a turreted limo for sale." And look at us now. ;o) guardian1816 and IamCourtney
Rumble Bunneh
Pay to enjoy what exactly? I find most of the clothing items and all of the overpriced outfits to be about as enticing as my avatar's smile. And what do I gain from camp and weapon upgrades? I'm nowhere near my camp 99% of the time, and I only use my weapons to hunt deer that don't shoot back … yet. What I find laughable about Rockstar's approach to monetizing such remarkably mundane content is that they've locked half of it behind a rank wall. If they're trying to motivate peeps to power-level with the aid of microtransactions, they should at least try to make the lure seem attractive. Maybe I'm just not the sucker they're fishing for. Tez2
In single-player, I had $4000 in my pocket and it still managed to deliver that fun experience. That's nowhere to be found in online, it's kinda the opposite way. In single-player, you hate Micah and you don't want to become dishonorable. In online, killing other players is fun (even though I disagree with this, it's kinda fun) Going full Micah in a town is fun Completing the dishonorable missions is fun too. Everything that involve doing bad stuff is fun in online, while being honorable and doing missions that's easy prey for griefers is boring as hell. Live and learn. That right there is why this game is like it is. (Not aimed at you, just illustrating a point). The cash is there, and they want it. Simple as that. Free for me though, aside the grind as a consequence, but I got time to burn. 1 hour ago, Bakkerbaard said: Didn't they do that in GTAO as well? Weapons were, but you could run a DM/LTS and pick up a temp until at the right rank. Edited December 3, 2018 by Lonely-Martin Spelling.
