ShadowBadass
hey all, i had started another hunting topics but was looking for help from the community on getting some information from the game. you dont have to go out of your way or anything, just as you turn things in see if you can add the information. If you want to help out I appreciate it. I am trying to get values for each animal name (not just deer, or fox), star type (1,2,3), and for skins and carcasses seperate. If you have an animal that is not on the list add it to the bottom with the actual animal name; you might have to look at the animal on the ground or on the horse for the actual name instead of in the satchel/butcher inventory list. The reason behind the detail like this is after we have the database I will make other tabs that looks up into that tab. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kF7nXH1Emk9bAeINqOlWMaH8RR4yLSRRUnjzzNEFU_A/edit#gid=0 Thanks Stormingz and IamCourtney
dragosani00
On 12/1/2018 at 3:49 PM, Stormingz said: Best technique I’ve found so far, is to hunt around the plains near Valentine, the plains always spawn deer, buck and pronghorn, alongside with rabbits etc. And Valentine because the butcher is close to said plains. I look out for three star buck, as the carcass sells for ten dollars, plus antlers, the pelt and meat if you chose to (can’t remember the total) and around 10 dollars in total for a deer or pronghorn. It’s been quite an efficient method for me, of course money per hour varies on your luck and how quickly you come across a three star animal, but because of the close distance to the Valentine butcher, I’ve been making good bank. Tumbleweed's pretty good too - plenty of pigs/deer/sheep on the plains in addition to various little things and birds, you can quickly fill your horse with all sorts and take it to the Tumbleweed butcher to cash in. (Hint, kill something large - don't skin yet - then wander off a little so that the Condors swoop down and start vulturing on the carcass so you can shoot them too.). Also there's a sheriff who gives periodic little missions and 2 gang hideouts nearby (one at the fort and one under a cliff) which you can repeat at night with lots of cover to make them easy to pick off the bad guys. The other bonus is that hardly anyone goes to Tumbleweed so you generally get it all to yourself because griefers can't be bothered to travel all that way to annoy one person huting around on their own. ibsmokin
I know sockeye pay good, 4.25 per fish. The owanjila inlet is a great spot to get them as well as having a ton of other valuable game in the area. Thing is to be really successful you need the river lure which is 1 gold bar. I’ve heard they can also be lost so be careful realing.

ibsmokin
What someone needs to do, not me because I do not have the means is put together a spreadsheet compiling pay for all the different animals and things we get from them. This seams like a good place for people to start listing what they know as far as pelt price for different star level animals as well as bird feathers, fish etc.. I know a perfect buck carcass sells for 7 the horns for 2, the pelt is almost 2 as well. I don’t pay much attention to meat prices as I usually try to keep a lot on me for cooking. Minty big game is my sh*t. 2 hours ago, ShadowBadass said: hey all, i had started another hunting topics but was looking for help from the community on getting some information from the game. you dont have to go out of your way or anything, just as you turn things in see if you can add the information. I never said that it was, I said people won't buy gold bars(or any sort of in-game money for that matter) because hunting is the best income in the game. R* will realize this(in the future at some point) and then nerf the best incomes. Hatin Since 87

Slonitram
I'll consider hunting once the servers are stable enough. I don't wanna be continuously getting close to the butcher with a carcass and a pelt on my horse only for the game to sh*t itself and have them disappear once I get back in. durkahdurkah
Hunt in lemoyne, just north of Saint Denis. Follow the track track north on the far side of the map, on your right and left as you go up you will see plenty of swampy areas. heron plumes: 1.50 each (get a flock of heron and you have $15 straight away) turkey feathers: 1.20 each (normally find 2 or 3) pellican feathers: 1.20(?) each (you will probably bump into a couple) small and large gators for big game meat the occasional buck lots of different types of small animal (squirrel, opposium, snake, rat) i hunted around that area for 45 minutes and my cash went from $78 to $243 and the butchers is literally connected to the train tracks as you go back south. Spoonbill even gets you 1,95 for each feather. Best thing about this is you cant lose most of the stuff. With herons, pelicans and spoonbills you can get loads of cash without risk. That's exactly what I've been doing, made about $500 this way today. Usually pretty empty of other players as well, at least in my experience. Gators are the easiest to hunt, but birds are the most lucrative. I really hope they don't nerf the prices on them.
Stormingz
Might as well throw this in here for anyone feeling a change of pace, there’s a good fishing spot called Catfish Jackson, the cabin South of Braithwaite Manor, you can catch ten Steelhead Trout (on average one per minute), and then sell to the Rhodes butcher for a total of $42.50, minus the cost of worms. Roughly 15 minutes work for $42.50. May not be as profitable as hunting, but it’s risk free, as nobody can steal your fish, and you’re guaranteed a $4.25 (I think it was) fish each time, whereas hunting involves you looking out for the best star animal (apart from feather hunting), and potentially loosing the pelt or carcass. Forgot to mention, it’s a good way to farm health experience too. Edited December 3, 2018 by Stormingz Miketv and Assblaster
Jason
Like others have mentioned, the spot north of St Denis around the train tracks is probably the best money in the game. If you get the spawns and no competition you can rake in around $200 an hour. It's all about the birds basically, kill anything that flies that's not a raven, duck or turkey (I mean you can, but their feathers are around $4 for a full stack compared to $10+ for the other birds). Kill a few gators for exp (15 per kill, it adds up), meat and teeth, that's about $10 or so with maxed stacks, and then make sure while doing this you're picking up perfect/good pelts, 2 birds and 1 big gator, if you can nab some small gators get those too. Once you've got a decent haul follow the train tracks straight to the butcher, restock on ammo at the general store next door and repeat. Remember to look up for the flocks of birds flying overhead, that's the secret sauce. You'll see flocks of 3-4 heron's and pelicans which is basically $15-$20 if you knock 3-4 of them down, you'll also see occasional spoonbills, vultures and owls so get those too. In my experience the bird spawns are better during the day, so keep that in mind. Bare in mind that it's a spot that's getting more competitive by the hour, posses rolling up and pushing people away happens now and then, so take advantage when that area is quiet when you can. Private lobbies would probably make this place $300-400 an hour with how the spawns seem to work lol. It's worth watching out for birds as you roam as well, cause again, a pack of 3-4 valuable birds is an easy $15-$20 which is a nice little side earner when you're just free roaming or travelling to somewhere. New Austin also has condors, which are super easy to spot as they're massive and fly solo. Those are well worth skinning too. Stormingz
I’ve also noticed the Saint-Denis spot getting busy, hence why I gave fishing a go, my experience so far with other fellow hunters has been friendly, I’ve kept out of other players way, and vice versa, even got a friendly howdy here and there, but I realise not everyone is as lucky as me. I really wish the value of all the fish depended on their weight, would of made fishing so much more interesting, but then again would we make as much money per hour if they did? durkahdurkah
I can't confirm this 100%, but: go into the online options menu, decide which state you want to hunt in, and select a DIFFERENT select in the free roam menu. E.g. If I'm hunting in lemoyne, I select to free roam in west Elizabeth. Why? Every time I've done this so far, I'm put in a server where most players are in the same state or one state over. I simply ride over to lemoyne and it's a ghost state with no players. last night I played two hours and only one other person appeared in lemoyne the entire time. Im pretty sure this is a useable tactic, been using it without fail. Good luck hunting and avoiding griefers. Van_Hellsing
I came across Egrets north of Saint Denis during daytime. Move west towards the gang hide out. Rolling block rifle is a good investment. You can take your pick from far away and look through the scope for a perfect three star animal. If the bayu gang hideout is active, wait at the entrance at a distance. All enemies will line up to take a shot at you. You can headshot most of the gangsters. Is it wiser to invest in the Bolt Action or the Rolling Block when the dollars come? Hunting in Online works similar to Single Player, if you want a perfect/pristine pelt you'll have to use specific weapons for certain animals and try to shoot them the least amount of times as possible. You need to use a Varmint Rifle for the small game like Raccoons or Rabbits. You'll have to use a Bow with Small game arrows for animals that are very small like Squirrels, Birds, Snakes and such, and a Bow with normal arrows/poison arrows on Medium to Large animals. Big Alligators, Bison, Moose, Bears and other Very Large animals require a Rifle. But if you're only worried about getting good/poor pelts etc all the time then just use a Varmint Rifle or Bow or really whatever weapon you want. Be careful though as some powerful weapons can obliterate small animals, and some weaker weapons will just ruin the pelts of bigger animals. Bakkerbaard
I forgot to ask, previous post. Does the deterioration of a carcass apply in Online? Suppose you shoot a perfect deer on yur first go and you wanna hang around to fill up your slots for the best haul possible, that could mount up to several in game days, which in Story would mean your carcass would be falling apart by now. DentureDynamite
As of last night anyway, pelts are unaffected by dragging, so you can lasso and drag back behind your horse to a butcher any unskinned large animal. Benefit of course is obvious--one extra large animal to sell. No. There's no rotting or deterioration that I've seen. You still don't want to wait too long to sell them lest you get disconnected though.
