What if my dog spills my drink or other duties in life call me from the controller.... what's to protect me while I leave for a few minutes? Passive Mode saved my life countless times in GTA:Online. I'm confused, why does no one want passive mode? Passive Mode worked just fine in GTA:Online. And if I remember correctly, it was the sweaty tryhards who didn't like passive mode because they couldn't kill random innocent players over and over again.. What's wrong with activating a temporary passive mode after you've been killed two or three times instead of the terrible Parley/Feud system. Feud is basically 1v1 Deathmatch from GTA:Online which is fine, but Parley allows you to "talk it out"(lmao what a joke) but in reality, Parley only stops the person who killed you four times from shooting you again and it stops you from shooting them, but that doesn't stop the rest of their posse or friends who will gladly gun you down since their partner can't... Passive mode can only be abused if someone kills you and then activates it, if people are so worried about that then Passive Mode should only be activated after you've been killed by a player and not activated from a menu. I also think creating a bunch of friendly/non-friendly lobbies is going to divide the players too much.

 

Red Dead Online still needs A LOT of work..

It's not really going to change anything, I only enjoy killing and could care less about kd, I just want to be a really good gunslinger. It's the hunt and epic fights for me.

In GTAO, if you were good and people saw you K/D it acted as a deterrent. 

 

But with this, if there's no K/D it won't stop anyone from attacking you. People that suck in this game are still going to get attacked just as much as they did in GTA. And even the people who are really good are still going to get attacked because no one will know to leave them alone. But R* decided to listen to the normies who sucked in GTA.

It didn't matter how you got it, it kept people from f*cking with you nonstop. I can't act like it wasn't a flawed system, because it was, but it could have been fixed. Taking it out completely helps nothing. 

 

When someone with a high KD saw someone else with a high KD, most of the times they ended up fighting each other, keeping all the chaos away from weaker players. But there won't be anything like that now.

Lol, nope. Many with high K/D prey on more passive folk too. Too ambiguous and means absolutely f*ck all. A pointless stat for pole strikers. (I'll never agree so peace out dude).

Of course they still preyed on people, and they still will now too. But now it will be even worse. 

 

That one stat could save your life, and now it's going to be chaos for everyone.

Yeah, K/D as far as I'm concerned was basically just a stat for gauging how aggressive a player is and if they're a troll or not, it has nothing to do with skill. High K/D almost always means they're a griefer who specifically targets people with low numbers (less aggressive players). A lot of players have low k/d ratios not because they're unskilled, but because they're tired of the pvp and can't be bothered with getting into a freeroam war every ten minutes, they get killed and just ignore it and go back to what they were doing before.

You're not entirely wrong, but I was significantly f*cked with less because of my KD, and I know I'm not alone with that. 

 

In RDR, everyone will be in the same boat now.

Yeah, a reasonable to negative K/D meant I give someone a chance. A silly outfit and a 9.6 or whatever, booted.

I don't have a low kd in gta (it's not crazy high either) like 2.27 I think and I get attacked like crazy even by low levels. I'll be honest when I see high kd I think jet griefer not skilled pvp player, it does give you an idea who is out fighting but I don't see it having a place here or gta honestly it takes away from epic gameplay and makes people obsess over a stupid number.

Gotta disagree with ya there mate. My GTAO K/D was around 2.8, (not great, I know). However in the entire life of the game I’d only killed around 2500 players. I also had the 500 headshots face tatt.

At no stage did I ever kill afk players, lower level players or people running business missions.

Sure I got booted from plenty of sessions purely based on that number ( which I didn’t give a rats arse about) but I also rarely got griefed by turds because that magic number was a massive deterrent.

Passive mode gets abused, that’s why I don’t want it in the game. Lately on GTAO every other player I kill activates passive mode when they realize I’m better than them, and then they start following me around waiting to pop out of passive. If they do so and manages to kill me, they instantly go back to passive. Rinse, repeat.

It’s the salty tryhards best friend. Can’t accept a loss? Use passive pop! It caters to foul play, simple as that. With a few tweaks though, it maybe could work, and I’m open to that - as long as it doesn’t get abused like it is on GTAO.

 

Edit/addition to the above: These days, almost no tryhards will get these kills on me, since I’ve learned to use passive mode too, or I go ghost, or I.. (etc..). And this is what I don’t like, I don’t like it that it’s part of the strategy. And, I never use passive pop offensively, but I won’t hesitate to go passive if you do.

 

Let’s say I put down my controller to go get a drink and another player kills me (in RDO), what do i lose? An honest question. Do I lose pelts, or progress in any way? Because if not, and since there’s no K/D either, I can’t see the problem of getting killed a few times. But if we lose progress, then I absolutely understand.

Pelts seem to be hit and miss. Lost lots, but now and then they stay. More I think its just the game being inconsistent atm.

K/D might not be incorporated in Red Dead Online only for the moment while it is in Beta, there are a lot of things missing from Red Dead Online that seems like it should be there.

There's nothing wrong with having a K/D stat, taking it away OBVIOUSLY hasn't fixed anything. Players can still see the, "Players Killed" stat and as long at that is a high number that's all they will care about.

 

K/D is just a number anyways, and any tryhard will just simply replace that number with another number.

Yeah but one person or even a hundred people is not enough though, because obviously way more people are complaining about griefing then people are complaining about a K/D number not existing, but whatever makes you happy bro lol

You ain't read around. Often K/D is associated with terrible players, not gamers. Been rife for years with GTA, this is only the beginning here. ;)

 

Time will tell. Of course, if R* keep pandering to the lowest denominator like this, it'll grow. But if they grow up a bit, gamers thrive.

If you're a good or bad sport while playing video games, you're always going to be a good/bad sport no matter what number is showing.

 

Look at RD:Online, they took K/D away.. and big surprise, nothing has changed. Still massive amounts of griefing, not nearly as much as GTA:Online(because GTA has Jets/Tanks/Oppressors) but wait until the Armored Horses/Wagons with Maxim Guns comes out... Then griefing will be exactly like GTA:Online with or without a K/D.

 

There are two HUGE complaints with Red Dead Online, two that stand out among EVERYTHING ELSE.. The ugly ass character creation, and **drum roll please**.........the griefing.

Na, PvE lobbies is easily the leader. Once they come, grief is voluntary and if you allow it, more fool them.

 

You can offer your opinion on the causes. I do mine. No worries dude. But some clearly need this pettiness. Enjoy not knowing. I agree though, folk choose what they do, but if the game does less to validate it, good good.

I highly doubt there will be separate lobbies besides a Private or Public lobby similar to GTA:Online... That's because R* is forcing players both bad and good to play together. That's what the Wild West was... Order and Balance clashing with Freedom and Chaos.

KDR is a toxic addition to any game, because of players of course. All it does is make people alter their playstyle to boost the stat. The most effective way to boost the stat is to use any means to kill people and also kill a lot of people. In a lot of games with a KDR, you will see people camping for kills rather than playing the objective. KDR is ebola for gameplay.

 

I am amazed at how such a number can influence the way people play. Like mindless drones watching the number with dull eyes, getting the illusion of joy with every little fractional increase. Seems odd that human beings can be controlled so easily with a few numbers, but such is reality. Even more strange is the gut wrenching obsession of the addiction, for KDR in all games.

 

Cold turkey, is my advice.

I'm begging for a passive mode. All I want to do when I'm on my own is hunt some animals and make some money peacefully without an entire posee lasooing me, killing me or killing my horse. 

 

I should've guessed this game'd online would be just as toxic as GTA online. Not to mention the microtransactions. I wonder how much the gold bars will cost? Probably 79.99 for 50 or some sh*t like that. 

 

f*ck Rockstar the greedy c*nts.

Passive mode is the worst thing added to GTA 5, too many jet abusing passive popping puszies abuse it. Please give the PvE type their own lobby P L E A S E just no passive mode.
