I really don't understand people who play a game set in americas frontier loaded with guns complaining about being griefed? Your online you get shot, hogtied, beat up isn't that part of the fun? I havn't had this much fun in ages i see someone and shoot them just for the hell of it and thats why i will play it. Its war:) If that bothered me i'd go play goat simulator or something less intense, or story mode.

Would you shoot someone while they're skinning an animal? You know, just for the hell of it? I think that's lame but at the same time I've started to enjoy the excitement.

Since the kiddies got their games on Christmas, you have to be extra careful. I just shot a 3 star buck when a cowpoke comes riding at me. He looks friendly but I'm smart enough not to start skinning until I know his exact intentions. Of course he suddenly points his rifle at me. I'm still not doing anything, for all I know he could be having trouble with the mechanics, maybe he's simply trying to wave at me? But as it turns out he was just slowly and shamelessly lining up a headshot. Luckily this little c*nt didn't know about the "never without one ability". So the only thing that happens is my hat flying off and me headshotting his ugly mug in stead. Put my hat back on stow my buck and ride off to the nearest butcher.

But I kinda want to teach this little f*cker a lesson, so I ride back and start a little battle. I end up killing him a couple of times in a row before I understand how I'm suddenly in this griefer position. With my higher level abilities, I'm so OP against this mouth breathing Christmas present noob child. So I stop killing him, ride away into the mountains and send him a message about just leaving peaceful hunters alone. His response was what you would expect. He's calling me a pussy hacker because he headshotted me, stuff about my mother, you know the drill. So in stead of me actually teaching him a lesson, I'm afraid he became more toxic than he was before. And the next time he might know about that headshot abilty and will just shotgun people in the chest in stead.

So, I can appreciate the excitement but that's only because my hunting money has no meaning as there's nothing more for me to spend it on at the moment. And I'm not looking for an unending freeroam headshot battle. There are PVP series filled with people who want to go heads up. Shooting peaceful players is just lame.

If they take that out and make a safe area pve  type thing i'd bin it.

The only thing i do agree with however is their should be consequences for unlawfullness and i think we will see rockstar implement something soon. Some good ideas in one of the posts above. A sheriff system would be good for people with a more moral gamepath and can find retribution for people like me randomly killing folks.

Eve online used to have a pretty good system years ago not sure if its still the same but worked really well. Can explain this in more detail if your not familiar.

I think this is why they need separate sessions. The game gives you a handful of structured activities in the world and encourages you to partake in them but it's also an open world shooter so there's always gonna be those people who just wanna compete with someone else whether there's an actual reason to or not.

Everyone should be able to play the game the way they want to. If you're the type of person who likes to play the game in a productive way and actually progress through it you can often find it impossible due to the people who just want a mindless shoot'em up experience.

Finding a better way to separate these two player types would be nice since for some reason the trigger happy people can't be bothered to load up a death match or whatever RDO calls them.

Yea, but seperate lobbies most likely won‘t come. And even if there‘ll be PvE lobbies, r* is gonna make sure that there‘s no way to grind money the easy way.

Maybe there‘ll be PvE lobbies without hunting, stranger missions etc. but what would be the use of that then?

Im convinced that either pve lobbies or passive mode Will end up with either no hunting no carrying weapons or no butcher. R* want us spending not saving

Exactly my opinion. But let‘s hope it won‘t be that way. However I‘m not really optimistic.

On the other hand: they won‘t let us buy $ with microtransactions and I don‘t see that happening. Maybe that could mean they indeed let us hunt in pve lobbies.

But it‘s more likely we‘ll see some kind of (abusable) passive mode imo...

we‘ll see, I guess

You know which customer spends the least amount of money?

The ones who stopped playing the game because of the lack of pve/friendly servers.

R* is welcome to make pve lobbies nothing more than empty wastelands, like playing CoD in a server with 0 players. But I guarantee a large chunk of the population would stop playing and paying, myself included.

Last I checked RDR2 (that's SP and MP) has like 1.8k viewers on Twitch compared to 25K for GTAO. YT'ers are saying their RDRO vids get 1/10th the views of GTAO.

R* is more than welcome to kill their online game before it even leaves beta if they want. You can't monetise someone who isn't playing the game after all.

Forget passive mode, having PvE modes encourages gamers.

PvP and PvE would be a great split, people can do their stuff without others getting involved or being annoying, if they wanted to, they could evenly slightly nerf the payout in PvE lobbies to compensate. Their main money source is from gold bars and having more scenarios or a safe environment where you can show off your clothing or your gun customization (some cost gold) encourages people to spend.

Because atm, i rarely notice anyone's clothes or anything like that as folks either shoot each other or run away, it certainly doesn't help AA is toggled on at all times but splitting it is a good thing to do.

Even the Twitch stats as Pocket Fox has stated shows people getting tired already. They are getting tired of a 3-4 month old game in comparison to a 5-6 year game..... (yea i know GTA series is a massive franchise but Rockstar could have easily retained more people by having an online that's actually good or has some sort of content or even separate free modes to accommodate everyone.)

I was such a massive fan of red dead 1 online and I couldn’t wait for this one, however I have found myself playing it less and less to the point where I’ve now not been on rd2o for nearly a week, I tried gun rush when that came out but that didn’t interest me, there’s a whole lot missing in the online word, it feels empty with very little to do, very slow as well, I was hoping for some more randomness, however after a few days with my friends we found ourselves feeling like playing online was more of a chore than an actual fun activity. GTA online was phenomenal, every time I went back to it there was something new, I feel R* have really let themselves down with red dead online at the moment, it seriously needs freshening up soon.

how many months into the BETA are we and it still breaks a lot more than it works. So much time is wasted waiting for missions to start .. and there are no tricks to making it happen

Gta online has been a culmination of over 6 years of updates. Red dead online had been out for how long ? Obviously it’s not going to have the same depth as gta online at launch or 2 months into its life.

When I compare Red Dead Online to Gta Online, I am not comparing to Gta Online as it is now in 2019 but how it was when it launched back on October 1st 2013. Even on its launch day there is no debating the fact that Gta Online had much more to do at the start than Red Dead Online. Gta Online had a rougher start with several game breaking bugs, but content wise Gta Online had much more to offer. Its why this trivial Gun rush update hurts even worse than Beach Bums did for Gta Online. While the first update for Gta Online was annoying due to how small and lackluster it was, it did not hurt as bad as players still had plenty of stuff to do and things to buy. The same cannot be said for Red Dead Online, hence why the Gun Rush update was so poorly received, even more so than Beach Bums.

Its why I understand now why a trailer for Red Dead Online was never released. Due to there being so little to do, they did not even really have anything to make a proper trailer out of. In fact such a trailer would scare players away more than it would attract them. Kinda hard to make an appealing trailer when all you got is 8 story missions, hunting/fishing, and a few showdowns.

Yes! Thank you.

I've only been playing a few weeks and i'm already fed up with spending more time checking my in-game map than looking at the amazing setting and losing myself in the experience. I want to play with friends and family with my own custom character, not be one-shotted by random jerkoffs with edgy names while I'm just minding my own business or sitting and waiting for a town to become deserted before cautiously moving in and exploring while constantly looking over my shoulder. As time goes by I feel i'm going to be playing less and less simply because it's just no fun being target practice for randoms who snap you out of an otherwise immersive experience with their boring, predictable deathmatch mentality. Ironically, these people also make the multiplayer a lonely experience because I spend all of my damn time avoiding other players as a result.

I have a reasonably good disposable income these days as an older gamer but it seems that companies like T2 and R* aren't interested in catering to the likes of me. Rare did a similar thing with throwing everyone in together in Sea of Thieves, and guess what? I don't play it anymore for the same reason. Neither do any of my friends, all of which are people who can afford to - and do - spend money on games on a regular basis.

Guess if this keeps up I'll save my spare cash for something else. Your loss, R*
