Will you use money glitches?

There is a ludicrous amount of grinding involved, you earn little money,  and you end up having to spend large sums of it just to keep yourself supplied with the essentials such as ammunition, gun oil, and so forth. All items from clothing to weapons are incredibly expensive. Its a two steps forward one step back kind of process and the journey requiring you to take 5000 steps forward for a single upgrade such as a weapon, that is the best I can describe it. The system is very much pay to win with the gold currency, so I hold no reservations about abusing any money exploit I become aware of. If Strauss Zelnick is willing to take it that far I hold no guilty conscious if and when I do it.

 

That is even if I bother putting any real time in, considering how they amped up the micro-transaction greed to eleven, making it even worse than Gta Online, the odds of me staying are very slim right now. Making no meaningful progress through normal gameplay defeats the whole purpose of even playing to begin with. That is the damage that micro-transactions always inflict to any game they are added to. They don't "enhance" the experience, they ruin it. I already lost most of my motivation to even turn the game back on after today.

But the freedom to play or not play either component is still yours and if you know R* well and knew online will be bad, I assume you bought the game with no intentions of worrying about online.

I bought it the single player part, it's just a bonus if online turns out to be good.. I also expected them to not have dedicated servers so the chances of lots of money glitches is also high. 

 

The real question is why do you constantly have to defend R*? What do you get out of it?

Maybe you would see what's what and start reflecting how things are if you just managed to pull your head out of their ass

No blame, but when someone “knows” R* will make a mess of things and then in the same breath expect them not to - that’s just nonsense (don’t know if you did specifically, but someone did).

 

I like online, but it’s clearly not finished. I think R* made a mess of GTAO and I did not like it. But I didn’t like the previous GTA either for online, but did like RDR1 for online.

 

I’ll see what happens. Not a fan boy of anything, but I just hope this game turns out alright and find the habbit of futile complaining silly, but maybe that’s just a part of the experience for some people.

I don't disagree overall. Time will tell. But I do feel you should reconsider how you approach some as you definitely come across like so in this regard in areas and it can cause more sh*t.

I understand how it can look like that, but I think part of it is I see too much over reaction on gaming boards. People claiming everything is broken, it will never get better, we may as well just stop playing, game is already dead etc. It sometimes feels like entering the mind of an emo teenager

 

There are issues with online, but I also expected issues and I can accept issues for now, because the game has potential. That doesn’t mean R* will succeed in making this game all or most of what it can be. It’s just a bit too early to cry wolf, a day or two after release.

Yeah, it's a f*cking mess of misinfo but also this type of game appeals to so many playstyles, like GTA, and to reach its potential, this game needs to do much to attract all.

 

I find you are pressing your preferences on folk. Others too. You might be happy with a long burn, I am. But many aren't and for this to thrive, all must be better enabled. I feel you're too quick to answer/criticise others based off your ways and less open to other opinions in areas. 

 

We each like what we like and this is for R* (and mods here of course) to sieve through. The only thing I strongly agree with you on is those with complaint here should equally be visiting R*'s page to tell them.

This is the reason most people are a little more down to earth than you are with your hopes and dreams that everything will be so fine and all players will sit around camp fires singing kumbaya.

 

Ask yourself why you think R* made a mess of GTAO and how can they make a mess of RDRO? They said in at least one newswire post that they've taken the best they've learned from the past and combined it to give people the best experience, initially that actually doesn't sound to bad but when you start to think of how successful gtao was and that's their most recent and biggest online success it's not hard to imagine how things will turn out here... 

 

I really hope things change and this beta launch lacks a lot of features and that they messed up the payouts but I think it's relatively realistic to not expect to much.

I really hope some day that you make a thread that's named something like "I told you all that everything would be dandy and fine" and that a lot of people, me included will admit that you were right ot at least on to something

In the meantime, why don't you just let people believe what they want to believe and don't use every opportunity to defend R* like a knight in shining armour?

Yeah man, I hear ya. It's bad enough that almost every developer just tries to play it safe by avoiding any original ideas. But now they seem only interested in increasing resolution, forcing you to play online, or pushing one of their divide and conquer agendas. 

 

There are so many more hobbies out there that are much more healthy for us, and that aren't trying to constantly rip us off and put their own failures on us. These companies have become serial wallet molesters. And only those with the strongest cases of Stockholm Syndrome, will return much longer for these beatings. 

 

Don't even get me started on lootboxes, lol. "They aren't gambling!" Like how the funk can they not be? You are paying for a CHANCE to win something. That word "chance", is a synonym for 'gamble'. Very simple. Trying to get folks to use a bit of critical thinking, not so simple.

They can quite easily reset everyone's progress, stats, money, clothes, items etc but leave the free outfit.

I played a couple story mode missions since I can't play online. Pretty game.. not sure it's actually any good other than being pretty. I don't have time in my life for the extreme boringness of it all. scripted.. may as well watch a movie and I can't stand doing that. Anyway hopefully tomorrow online works and glitches come.

I'm pretty sure they have said themselves they may do a reset. They'll end the beta, patch the bugs, then do a character reset to keep it fair.

You know, I was against glitching before but your post is the next logical step. 

 

The fact that Rockstar undermined their own game by allowing a cancerous business model contaminate gameplay, I think it's the right thing to do.  The sense of reward,  achievement and bragging rights from PLAYING to win is removed anyway because someone will have a money advantage because of microtransactions. So why not?
