Funny you should say that, I was just thinking the other day as I started another new character in Fallout 4 that I play that in first person for combat and third person for exploring and it feels natural but playing RDO or GTAO in First Person feels alien and wrong. People debate what the cause is, but it could be related to mods or creation club. Essentially your save files risk being corrupted just by playing. STNeish
There's lots to complain about (BOY is there lots), but there's equally LOTS to love. I love the setting, the wild west. I love the graphics, the game is drop dead gorgeous. I love the roles, because it more or less lets us "live" in the setting (this is something a LOT of games could really use, some sense of how our characters survive day to day when they're not caught up in quest events). I love how well the game lets us customize the look of our characters, between the actual character and the clothing, we look great. This also includes the animations. I love that the game is somewhat realistic, that getting shot a few times will put you (or your foe) down, that WHERE you're hit matters. I'm sure I could think of more. We had one of those save the lawman from the bad guys random encounters spawn inside of our camp when we returned with a trader supply run a while back. Needless to say Cripps was shooting the heck out of a bunch of guys and we were so confused as to what was happening until I saw the lawman tied up in the middle of it all. We have one guy left, I have him in my line of sight and just when I'm about to pull the trigger a bullet whizzes past me causing my character to shrug and it hits the lawman in the head and kills him. Cripps was the only one behind me as my daughter was to my left at the time. Cripps can be a ruthless dude when he wants to be.. And the camp stayed like this for the next two times we played. Lol! I've had the same thing happen several times, usually down near the grain elevator near Rhodes, by the falling down stone buildings between the main road and the coast. Now that you mention that mission, I haven't seen that one in months. It used to happen way more than any other mission, but now it's more scarce than rival collector NPCs. Commander S
...well, damn - not often I can say "f***ing called it!", but not mean it in a disparaging way. In fact, it's better than I thought originally, because it's both - they've catered to people who want to do trapper stuff, but without forcing players into doing it or missing out on anything new. I wonder if this isn't going to be a recurring theme in future, for (for example) lawman stuff - you can either be a ruthless enforcer if you want to go round shooting people, or alternatively do detective-y things as the peaceful alternative. I would be pretty keen on a Bounty Hunter companion role (pairing up like Trader/Moonshiner and Collector/Naturalist) where the two approaches let you be either Wyatt Earp or Sherlock Holmes, depending on your tastes. kcole4001

Surebrec
Now hunting is back to what it should have been, keeping Cripps stocked is no longer a chore. A 5-10 minute hunting session can completely replenish stocks, leaving more time to actually allocate to doing other things, like sedating and taking samples so I can get Harriet out of the way. I managed to get through nearly two trade runs in one day yesterday, and probably would have been three had I been able to figure out the changed times for the trade route. kcole4001 and YNNEL

Commander S
I think you can call something genuinely praise-worthy when it's a total 180 on something you previously brought up in the B&M thread: On 6/15/2019 at 2:00 AM, Commander S said: ...ooh, and that brings me to another B&M: I really, really wish that we had an Online version of the compendium - not only is it a pain to keep track of things for awards (which type of bass do I need to get for the buckle, again?), but there's some unique-to-RDO stuff that'd be really cool to log and read up about, like the striped 'gator. A year later, but we do indeed have the compendium - and they've also updated the Social Club page so you can view compendium stuff online. Oh, and you can also do the same for collectibles, right down to being able to differentiate between 'haven't ever found it' (greyed out), 'found it but don't currently have it' (white), and 'found it and have it in the bag' (white with a tick in the corner). Next step: full stats page, like for GTAO - but this is definitely several steps in the right direction, as well as the sort of thing to make me more invested in going out and getting proper invested in the game world. Rev. Gnash
Legendary Animal and Poacher missions are enjoyable. The Poachers steal the show, great dialogue and character work. I have been, looking for NPC'S with same energy as the raiders in Fallout and the Poachers, come pretty close. "I ain't tryin' to be killed, over some damn beaver." (c) Boss Poacher Hahaha. Commander S
...oh, hey - managed to get into a session, and stay in it long enough to get a bounty done, grab half a dozen collectibles, sell the weekly set, do a couple of dailies, rank up the Outlaw Pass enough to get some more gold bars, and quit the game properly so all the above saved. Frame rate is still rather choppy, particularly in denser areas, and I'm not sure if I just got lucky today - or maybe just tweaking the tunables managed to nudge things back into proper working order. Hopefully the 'constant disconnects to the point where even just entering the game is impossible' phase was the exception rather than the rule - fingers crossed... kcole4001
I have to say that the addition of a bonus for completing role dailies has been very beneficial. Now I only have to do 9 and get paid 6 gold, where before I'd have to finish at least 11 to make 6 gold, given that at least 2 of them would have to be bounties to make up the difference, and that almost never happened. It's not hard to get 9 done, and I can ignore the ones I really don't enjoy. Edited August 10, 2020 by kcole4001 spelling DentureDynamite, RonDutch and Rev.
