Anyone notice that Cripps seems to be coming around to our camp dog?

"I think me and that dog are coming to an understanding"

"I think I don't mind that dog now"

I'm paraphrasing but pretty sure he said that

"You know, that thing is starting to grow on me".

He still calls it a thing, so there is still some way to go before he will like our dogs.

I bet he is a cat person... I should go find a cougar for him.

I wonder if this is leading upto us being able to take the Dog out of Camp. Something like Cripps saying he has been teaching the Dog commands while we have been away and it will seek and come back on command etc.

I like that this was actually a proper Outlaw DLC and not a "Forced to be good guy hur hurrr hurrr" update like the previous 3 roles!

A shame people want more "Goodie two shoe" roles and updates, this is cowboy simulator not Photography simulator!

  • 2 weeks later...

Not much to praise about the game lately but one thing that has remained constant is how breathtaking this world is.

Last night I took advantage of the heavy snow and spent a couple hours up near Colter and the glacier at the very top of the map and I have to say it was a great experience. Just sitting in Colter listening to the sounds around me, the silence of the snow, the wind whipping through the trees, the occasional howl of a wolf combined with the falling snow around me has been one of my favorite experiences in this game

If the game wasn't so fantastic at it's core it would have been abandonware by now with all the glitches.

I haven't fired up GTA in well over a month.

The atmosphere often has me recalling my first foray into Hidden & Dangerous many years ago, sneaking and sniping in the rain and snow, I actually almost felt the cold at times.

Same here... this last week was incredible, visually.

Might be a small thing, but credit where credit is due: I like the lootable $3 money bags in several places around the map--adds some realism and variety.

Would be nice if they added some more of those; even GTA Online could use some of them (but $3,000 instead of $3... lol).

Or we could get sensible amounts of cash when we loot people instead of 0.2 cents.

Tried the Navy Revolver out recently for the first time, and ...yeah, that's more like it. Most things in this game that aren't shotguns feel frustratingly weightless and ineffectual, but the Navy is probably the most satisfyingly punchy handgun I've used - bit like the heavy revolver in GTAO in that regard, where the noise is beefy, enemies go down like skittles, and there's a proper sense of weight in the animations.

Bought myself a Double Barrel with the discount voucher we got for TOP2 or Christmas and I very satisfied. Yea I miss the "CLACK CLACK" of the Pump Action but there is something far more satisfying about bursting into a room and unloading both barrels at some fools.

The game can be whatever you want it to be.

^^ Just thinking of real life roles, some come to mind:

  • Animal Trapper
  • Gambler
  • Gunslinger/Outlaw
  • Prospector

Freighthauler - imagine delivering gold shipments from Tumbleweed to Annesburg and running a gauntlet of all the gangs and bushwackers.

Stagecoach Driver - get your passengers safely to their destination for the maximum reward.

The grave robber encounters are a pretty cool idea--love it! R* just needs to fix and balance their wanted levels/AI system... and make the grave robber actually return to digging along with you (you know, because it makes sense).

I think there needs to be a "politician" line of play. Maybe not you yourself being the person running for office, but something where you are helping a slimy politician.... so making bribes, intimidation, blackmail, etc, etc. You would have to be the bagman or the muscle for all their shady backdoor dealings.

Working for the Mayor of Saint Denis or the devil himself, Leviticus Cornwall.

Not praising the game, I'm giving props to the random who rode into my camp and dropped off a 3* deer.

Dang! An amazing player--especially taking the chance that (knowing this game) they might have been backstabbed.

Thankfully, he delivered it to another respectable player who's had a bad week in RDO. :)

The gift that keeps on giving - the bounty description.

You get the tracking mini game and when you finally find her it leads you to a narrow passage between some cliffs but the clues end only for her to piss on your character from the top of the cliffs. You then have to chase her.

Her legendary bounty intro:

"Ahhhhhh! Mrs. Ida Bunch, this dirty bird, is wanted for trespassing, public lewdness and having absolutely, no home training. Authorities in Saint Denis, want her in connection to a string of incidents, involving folks, rugs being micturated on. And making slanderous accusations about how some Chinamen did it."

Was nice to encounter another player on the PC recently who (in a friendly way) walked up, waved, and then walked away. :)

I happily waved back (if that was you, let me know--I didn't catch your name). :)

Always nice to meet friendly folks after the grief fest that I encountered on the PS4; had a couple on the PC so far, but it pales in comparison.

^^ Yeah, RDO's beautiful scenery and "get away from it all" aspect is probably what keeps me playing/coming back to it.

There's a nice "corner" of the map I like where I can make decent money in peace and quiet.

That, and (for some strange reason) I love using dynamite. ;)
